Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in the global economy but often face significant challenges when adopting new technologies like Big Data. While Big Data offers opportunities for improving decision-making, operational efficiency, and gaining a competitive edge, many SMEs struggle due to financial constraints, limited technical expertise, and concerns over data security and privacy. This paper explores the challenges SMEs encounter in adopting Big Data and identifies the opportunities it provides for growth and innovation. A mixed-methods approach is employed, combining qualitative interviews with SME managers and quantitative surveys from 150 SMEs to gather comprehensive data. The findings reveal that SMEs face barriers such as high implementation costs and lack of skilled personnel, but they also recognize the potential for Big Data to enhance customer insights, improve business processes, and foster new business models. Recommendations include exploring cost-effective solutions, investing in employee training, strengthening data security, and adopting modular systems that integrate easily with existing operations. This study underscores the importance of overcoming these challenges and leveraging Big Data as a key driver of digital transformation for SMEs, ultimately helping them to compete more effectively in an increasingly data-driven marketplace.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to describe the development and implementation of the ULOS learning model as an innovation to enhance the love of culture among Physics Education students at Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar (UHKBPNP). The background of this study lies in the urgency to integrate local culture into science education, aiming to strengthen students' cultural identity, foster appreciation for traditional values, and develop positive character alongside academic competencies.Methodology – The research employed a research and development (R&D) design with a sample of 30 Physics Education students. The procedure followed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Instruments included validation sheets for experts, questionnaires for students’ responses, observation sheets for classroom implementation, and pre-test and post-test to measure changes in cultural appreciation. Data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics and N-gain scores, as well as qualitatively through reflective discussions.Findings – The results indicated that the ULOS model is valid, practical, and effective. Expert validation yielded an average score of 0.91 (very valid). The implementation significantly improved students’ love of culture, with effect size results in the medium to high category. Moreover, students demonstrated a greater awareness of integrating cultural elements into their learning and expressed stronger motivation to preserve local wisdom.Contribution – This study contributes to the enrichment of educational models by integrating ethnopedagogy into science learning. The ULOS model serves as a framework to cultivate cultural awareness and appreciation while simultaneously developing critical thinking skills. The study offers a practical guide for educators and researchers in designing culturally responsive learning models that support the sustainability of local heritage in higher education.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has accelerated the transition from manual, paper based attendance systems toward digital platforms that promote efficiency and environmental sustainability through reduced paper usage. In this context, the Hadirku online attendance platform has been increasingly adopted across educational, organizational, and eventmanagement settings. This study employs the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), extended with Service Quality, Organizational Support, and Information Security, to examine determinants of User Satisfaction and Continued Usage. A quantitative design was implemented with 200 valid respondents, and SmartPLS was used to assess construct validity and structural relationships. Reliability was strong (Cronbach’s α = 0.77–0.92), and model fit met recommended thresholds (SRMR = 0.057; NFI = 0.91). The study aims to analyze how perceived usefulness, ease of use, service quality, information security, and organizational support influence user engagement with Hadirku. Findings reveal that information security and perceived usefulness significantly predict continued usage intention, while perceived ease of use and organizational support enhance user satisfaction. Users overall reported positive experiences and strong behavioral intention to continue using the platform. This study contributes to digital transformation and Green ICT literature by providing an extended TAM framework that explains sustained engagement with online attendance systems. The results offer practical insights for platform developers and institutions seeking to optimize user trust, system reliability, and sustainable administrative practices.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a valid and reliable Science Process Skills (KPS) assessment instrument in learning Physics temperature and heat material. The research is a Research and Development study with the ADDIE model. The research was conducted at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Junior High School in Medan. The sample in the study came from 2 physics education lecturers and 3 physics teachers. The instruments in this study were a 15-item multiple choice KPS test sheet and a validation questionnaire. Data collection techniques in the form of tests and validation questionnaires. The KPS indicators studied were observing, formulating hypotheses, identifying variables, interpreting data, communicating, and applying concepts. Data analysis is quantitative and qualitative data analysis with the help of the SPSS version 21 application. The results validation value of 34%, language validation of 31% and validation of 35% with decent criteria, reliability of 0.862 high criteria. This finding explains that the KPS instrument is very valid and reliable to be used in learning physics temperature and heat material.
