The imbalance in the orientation of educational goals in Indonesia is considered as the cause of the failure of character formation. The learning process in class is only concerned with academic achievement and ignores the practice of good behavior. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of developing the character and academic achievements of students through Project Based Learning (PjBL) in plant physiology courses. The study was designed as a pre-experiment using Single-Group Pretest and Posttest Design. Students are given a pretest before being given a learning treatment by applying PjBL and thereafter given a posttest. The random sampling technique was used to select one of three classes of participants in plant physiology courses with a total of 36 students. Student character observation sheets and learning achievement tests are used as instruments. Descriptive analysis, t-test, and N-Gain are used in data analysis. The results revealed that the application of PjBL in plant physiology courses can develop the character of discipline and responsibility and student learning outcomes. This study recommends that lecturers in higher education institutions apply the PjBL model among learner-centered learning models for the purpose of character development and academic achievement

Initial studies on the use of high school student’s worksheets based on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in learning biology showed that HOTS content in the worksheet used by teachers is still low. Based on this, HOTS-based worksheet on evolution material has been developed. The type of research is a development research by using ADDIE model. The practicality test of HOTS-based worksheet was carried out at SMA Negeri 4 Wajo, South Sulawesi in March 2022, with 2 biology teachers and 30 students of grade 12th. The data collected through some instruments such as the observation sheet for the implementation of the worksheet and the questionnaire for students and teacher’s response. The criteria for HOTS-based worksheet are declared practical if the minimum value of the percentage of product implementation obtained is 71.00%, and the average percentage of respondents through questionnaires is ≥70.00%. Generally, product implementation through the observation sheet was 84.46% (very well implemented category); teacher responses to the practicality of the worksheet was 85.83% (very positive response category); and student responses was 85.94% (very positive response category). Refer to the research results, it can be concluded that the worksheet has met the practical criteria.

This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers and students for biology teaching materials, especially in Kingdom Plantae material in high school. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out by survey method, with research instruments in the form of teacher and student questionnaires. The data analysis used is by reducing the survey data into more specific data to be presented descriptively. The results showed that teachers and students need the development of teaching materials with more attractive designs and can be used at any time (flexible in their use), so that they can support learning activities anytime and anywhere. Based on this, it was concluded that it is necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of e-books based on mind mapping on Plantae materials so that they can support the learning process in schools.

Practical activities are activities that play a big role in the implementation of biology learning, because this activity will really help students improve their skills in working with nature and the environment. This research aims to find out the implementation of class XI biology practicum at SMAN in terms of conformity with the basic competencies in the 2013 curriculum. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Sampling for research subjects was carried out using cluster sampling with 10 schools as selected research subjects. The research results show that the implementation of biology practicum for class The practicum with the lowest implementation was KD 4.4 Presenting data from observations of tissue and organ structures in animals with a percentage of 37.5%, and the highest was KD 4.3 Presenting data from observations of tissue and organ structures in plants with a percentage of 85%. For the practicum implementation aspect, 30% of schools are in the very good category, 20% are in the good and sufficient category and 30% are in the very poor category..

Sabun padat adalah sabun yang dibuat dari reaksi saponifikasi dari lemak padat dengan NaOH yang digunakan untuk membersihkan badan. Bahan baku utama dalam pembuatan sabun adalah minyak atau lemak yang diperoleh dari bahan-bahan nabati dan hewani. Salah satu minyak nabati yang dapat digunakan adalah minyak Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) yang memiliki khasiat terhadap kesehatan kulit. Minyak zaitun juga dapat ditambahkan sebagai salah satu bahan baku dalam pembuatan sabun. Minyak zaitun memiliki manfaat sangat baik bagi kesehatan tubuh, kecantikan wajah, rambut, kulit dan untuk mengatasi berbagai masalah gangguan penyakit. Kandungan asam oleat yang tinggi pada minyak zaitun sangat bermanfaat bagi kulit. Minyak zaitun yang sudah diolah menjadi sabun dianggap sebagai obat terbaik untuk kulit kering karena membantu mengangkat sel kulit mati dan melembabkan kulit bersisik. Selain itu, minyak zaitun juga mampu mengurangi bekas luka dan mengencangkan kulit keriput. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2022 di Desa Cikoang, Kabupaten Takalar. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dibagi dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan, sosialisasi dan pelatihan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pengabdian ini yaitu respon peserta cukup tinggi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari kehadiran dan antusias mereka dalam mengikuti pelatihan. Masyarakat memiliki keterampilan tambahan dalam memanfaatkan Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) dan minyak zaitun menjadi sabun padat.

Abstract. This study aims to determine the comparison of learning outcomes between students who are taught by applying the Question Student Have (QSH) learning method with the Learning Start With A Question (LSQ) learning method on the movement system material for class XI SMA Negeri 3 Bone. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 3 Bone in the 2020/2021 academic year, which consisted of seven study groups (rombel). The sample of this study was class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 3 Bone which were selected according to the purpose of this study (purposive sampling). The design of this study was a pretest-posttest comparison group design. Measuring learning outcomes by providing learning outcomes tests. The average learning outcome of students taught by the QSH method is 23.11, while the average learning outcome of students taught by the LSQ method is 31.89. The results of statistical tests using the Mann Whitney Test analysis method were obtained by Asymp.sig. (2-tailed) = 0.04 < 0.05, so it is said that there are differences in biology learning outcomes between students using the Problem Learning method and the Learning Beginning with Problem method on the motion system material, where LSQ is better applied than QSH.Keywords: student have question, learning starts with a question, learning outcome

The booklet on the diversity of species of magnoliopsida (dicotyledoneae) class of angiosperm plants is one of the learning resources that can be used to help students in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to develop a booklet as a valid learning resource for class X high school plantae material. This research was conducted at the Department of Biology FMIPA UNM. This development research uses the ADDIE development model which has five stages namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Product development begins with designing a booklet on the Canva application and then printing it for further evaluation by expert validators. The results showed that the developed booklet had a validity level of 4.67. So it can be concluded that the magnoliopsida (dicotyledoneae) class diversity booklet of angiosperm plant species as a source of biology learning material for class X high school plantae is very valid.

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu (quasy eksperiment) yang bertujuan (i) mendeskripsikan pemahaman konsep melalui pendekatan saintifik pada topik rekayasa genetika; (ii) mendskripsikan pemahaman konsep melalui STEM pada topik rekayasa genetika; (iii) menganalisis perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui pendekatan saintifik dan STEM pada topik rekayasa genetika;. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas XII MIPA yang terdiri atas 7 rombongan belajar dan sampel yaitu kelas XII MIPA 1 dan kelas XII MIPA 4, pemilihan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui tes pilihan ganda untuk pemahaman konsep. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) Pemahaman Konsep melalui Pendekatan Saintifik berada pada kategori sedan; (ii) Pemahaman Konsep melalui Pendekatan STEM berada pada kategori sedang; (iii) tidak terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui pendekatan saintifik dan STEM.

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian ex- post facto yang bertujuan untuk (i) mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar, lingkungan belajar dan hasil belajar peserta didik mata pelajaran biologi kelas XII MAN 1 Mamuju; (ii) menganalisis hubungan antara motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik mata pelajaran biologi kelas XII MAN 1 Mamuju; (iii) menganalisis hubungan antara lingkungan belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik mata pelajaran biologi kelas XII MAN 1 Mamuju; (iv) menganalisis hubungan antara motivasi belajar, lingkungan belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik mata pelajaran biologi kelas XII MAN 1 Mamuju. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik MAN 1 Mamuju dan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XII yang berjumlah 132 peserta didik dengan menggunakan sampel jenuh. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui angket motivasi belajar dan angket lingkungan belajar. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial berupa uji normalitas, uji linearitas dan uji hipotesis berupa regresi sederhana dan regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) deskriptif motivasi belajar, lingkungan belajar dan hasil belajar peserta didik berada dikategori sedang; (ii) terdapat hubungan antara motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 27%; (iii) terdapat hubungan antara lingkungan belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 31%; (iv) terdapat hubungan antara motivasi belajar, lingkungan belajar dengan hasil belajar peserta didik dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 32,7%.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kemandirian belajar, dan motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar IPA peserta didik pada materi sistem organisasi kehidupan secara parsial dan simultan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah ex post facto. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Pitumpanua Kabupaten Wajo dengan jumlah 47 peserta didik. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu purposive sampling sehingga diperoleh 47 sampel. Variabel bebas pada penelitian ini adalah variabel kemandirian belajar dan motivasi belajar sedangkan variabel terikat yaitu variabel hasil belajar. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa angket dan soal hasil belajar. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan analisis deskriptif dan inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (i) kemandirian belajar berada pada kategori sedang, (ii) motivasi belajar, pada kategori sedang. (iii) hasil belajar IPA peserta didik berada pada kategori sedang, (iv) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar dengan hasil belajar, (v) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar, (vi) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemandirian belajar, dan motivasi belajar dengan hasil belajar IPA peserta didik pada materi sistem organisasi kehidupan.
