Abstract

Understanding light diffraction requires higher-order thinking and the ability to apply science process skills. Therefore, this study aims to develop a guided inquiry-based e-worksheet that is valid, practical, and effective to stimulate science process skills in Light Diffraction materials. The study uses the Design and Development Research (DDR) approach, which consists of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The data analysis uses a validity test assessed by three experts, a practicality test conducted by students and teachers, and an effectiveness test as measured by the N-Gain test. The validity test results obtained an average value of 3.54, which is "very valid" category. The e-worksheet’s design and content correspond to the science process skill: formulating problems, formulating hypotheses, conducting experiments, drawing conclusions, and discussing. The practicality test produced an average student response result of 86% and an average teacher perception result of 88%, both of which are classified as "very practical." The effectiveness test produced an N-Gain value of 0.71 in the experimental class, which is classified as high and increased compared to the control class's value of 0.49, which is classified as moderate. Abstract

Background of study: Biobatteries are an innovative form of renewable energy technology that utilize organic materials to produce electricity through electrochemical reactions. Organic waste such as banana and pineapple peels contains natural electrolytes, making them potential sustainable and eco-friendly energy sources.Aims and scope of paper: This study aims to evaluate the performance of simple biobatteries using banana and pineapple peels as electrolyte materials. The research focuses on measuring voltage and current generation over seven days and assessing the stability and durability of each type of organic waste. Methods: Biobatteries were assembled using zinc (Zn) electrodes as the anode and carbon rods as the cathode. The peels were ground into a paste and used as the electrolyte. Daily measurements of voltage and current were taken for seven consecutive days to analyze performance trends.Result: Test results showed that both types of biobatteries were capable of producing sufficient voltage and current to power simple electronic devices such as small LEDs, wall clocks, and basic household appliances. However, biobattery performance decreased over time due to water evaporation, degradation of active compounds, and environmental influences such as temperature and humidity. Overall, banana peels performed more consistently than pineapple peels. Conclusion: This research demonstrates that organic waste can serve as a viable material for renewable energy generation. Biobatteries made from fruit peels not only help reduce waste but also have potential for educational use and community energy initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate a Project-Based Learning integrated with STEM (PjBL-STEM) learning program oriented toward deep learning principles—encompassing mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning—within the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) subject for tenth-grade vocational high school students. Motivated by the persistent gap between conventional instructional practice and the competency demands of Industry 4.0, the study developed a structured instructional package consisting of a Deep Learning Lesson Plan (Perencanaan Pembelajaran Mendalam/PPM), student worksheets (LKPD), and supporting handouts, all anchored in the PjBL-STEM framework applied to electromagnetic induction as a sustainable energy technology context. The research employed a mixed-method approach guided by the four-stage 4D instructional development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The study involved two classes of tenth-grade students enrolled in the Electrical Power Installation Engineering program (X TITL-1 as experimental group; X TITL-2 as control group) at a public vocational high school in Bandar Lampung during the 2025/2026 academic year. Expert validation by three specialists yielded an overall validity score of 91.9% for the lesson plan and 91.5% for the student worksheets and handouts, both classified as highly valid. Teacher practicality evaluation indicated an overall score of 90.7%, categorized as excellent. Effectiveness analysis using the normalized gain (N-Gain) index revealed that the experimental group achieved a mean N-Gain of 0.90 (high category) for performance skills and 1.00 (high category) for creativity, compared with 0.30 and 0.45, respectively, for the control group receiving conventional instruction. These findings establish that integrating PjBL-STEM with deep learning principles produces a valid, practical, and effective instructional framework capable of significantly enhancing vocational students' creativity and practical performance competencies relevant to contemporary technological challenges.
