Abstract

The projection for the year 2030 estimates that 75% of the workforce will be comprised of millennials, raising questions about their ability to lead in the future. The digital transformation era and Industry 4.0 provide ample opportunities for this generation to thrive with their rapid technological adaptation and openness to new ideas. This research examines the millennial leadership behavioral development to enable them to effectively become change agents in digital organizations, using the case study of William Tanuwijaya at Tokopedia. Through a review of literature from international sources during 2020-2023, this study discusses millennial leadership theories and change management, highlighting the importance of adaptive leadership capable of managing change in the face of digital organizational challenges. The research findings indicate that millennial leadership styles vary according to organizational contexts. Millennials are confronted with change management, where organizational readiness to adapt is critical to success. Through William Tanuwijaya's leadership at Tokopedia, millennial leadership characteristics prioritizing social and environmental issues, sustainability, and the implementation of sustainable values are evident, alongside collaboration with the government to create an inclusive environment and focus on innovation and digital transformation in the economy. Leaders like William Tanuwijaya start by building teams consisting of celebrities or public figures in Indonesia to promote Tokopedia and strengthen the company's image while formulating the company's vision and initiatives, motivating employees, overcoming obstacles such as improving work efficiency, implementing successful minor changes, ensuring smooth change integration, and making change an integral part of the organizational culture and system.

Background: Food hygiene and sanitation in catering services are affected by food handlers because they are the first to come in contact with food ingredients. This matter is essential to prevent food contamination. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between food handlers’ knowledge and practices and appropriate sanitation hygiene scores in catering services in Malang City, East Java, Indonesia.Materials and Methods: Two hundred four food handlers and 24 catering services participated in this cross-sectional study. Knowledge data were collected through validated questionnaires filled out by subjects, and food handlers’ practices were obtained through observation with a checklist. Subjects who scored >70 were considered to have sufficient knowledge and practice. Good sanitation hygiene was collected through interviews and face-to-face observations and given a score to determine appropriate sanitation hygiene scores. c2 and Pearson correlation analyses were performed. Results: Subjects generally had sufficient knowledge (82.8%) but poor food handling practices (57.8%) because of less frequent and comprehensive training, and food handlers did not apply their knowledge in food processing. Only a quarter of catering services (6 of 24) were rated as having good sanitary hygiene. There was no relationship between food handlers’ knowledge and practices and appropriate sanitation hygiene scores in catering services (p = 0.925 and 0.2363, respectively). Conclusion: Food handlers generally have sufficient food safety knowledge but have poor practice categories, and sanitation hygiene scores are in the inappropriate category. There is no relationship between food handlers’ knowledge and practices and sanitation hygiene scores in catering services. Keywords: Knowledge; practice; food handlers; hygiene sanitation; catering services.

Abstract

The phenomenon of job hopping is a challenge for organizations today, especially within the Generation Z workforce in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the effects of grit and perceived organizational support on job-hopping intentions, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. A quantitative method was used to collect data through questionnaires distributed to 200 Generation Z employees working in Indonesian companies for less than two years. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS 26 software. The results indicate that grit has a significant positive relationship with job hopping intentions, while perceived organizational support shows a significant negative relationship with job hopping intentions. Additionally, job satisfaction mediates the relationship between grit, perceived organizational support, and job hopping intentions. These findings provide insights for organizations on how to increase job satisfaction and organizational support to reduce the intention of Generation Z employees in Indonesia to change jobs.
