Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a holistic approach in Islamic education management at SMPN 2 Anak Ratu Aji, Central Lampung, for the character development of students. The background of this research is driven by the need to integrate character education with Islamic values in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings of the study indicate that the implementation of the holistic approach has resulted in positive changes in students' character, including improvements in moral attitudes, ethics, discipline, and socia4l skills. Although there are challenges related to limited resources, student acceptance of the approach, and managerial and structural issues, the positive impact on students' character is evident. The main conclusion of this study is that holistic Islamic education is effective in shaping students' character, not only making them academically intelligent but also morally upright and ready to contribute to society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the critical thinking ability of eleventh-grade students in Fiqh subject and to describe the efforts of the Fiqh teacher in developing those abilities, including the supporting and inhibiting factors at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Bola, South Buton Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study, then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, and validated through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that students' critical thinking ability generally remains at a medium-to-low category, characterized by limitations in deeply analyzing Fiqh problems, constructing well-structured arguments, and independently evaluating legal opinions. The Fiqh teacher has made various developmental efforts through group discussions, HOTS-based questioning, and contextual case studies; however, the implementation has not been fully optimal due to time constraints, the dominance of lecture methods, significant heterogeneity in students' abilities, and the lack of varied learning resources. This study affirms that the gap between the efforts undertaken and the outcomes achieved requires more systematic, structured, and institutionally policy-based learning interventions. These findings contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goal 4 on inclusive and equitable quality education, particularly in promoting the equitable quality of critical thinking learning in private madrasah in remote island areas that have long been overlooked by educational research and national education policy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of artificial intelligence technology in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education students and to explore students' experiences and perceptions regarding its use in academic activities. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with 29 eighth-semester students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program as research subjects, selected through cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that students have actively and comprehensively utilized AI across various courses, both general and Islamic studies, using platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Meta AI to understand course materials, complete assignments, and compose academic works. Students perceive AI as a tool that provides convenience and learning efficiency, while also contributing to improved academic achievement. However, excessive use potentially leads to dependency and weakens critical thinking skills. This study affirms that AI should be utilized wisely as a learning support tool that aligns with the values of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors influencing human resource development (HRD) in Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, focusing on the moderating role of government governance. The analysis explores variables such as inflation, foreign direct investment (FDI), GDP, population, unemployment, international trade, and human capital, examining their impact on HRD and institutional quality. Secondary data from trusted sources including the World Bank, UNDP, Our World in Data, and WGI is utilized, covering 50 OIC countries from 2012 to 2021. The research applies Dynamic Panel GMM and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to identify relationships and moderating effects. Findings show that inflation adversely affects the Human Development Index (HDI), while FDI and economic growth positively influence HDI, highlighting the importance of foreign investment in revitalizing OIC economies. Population growth, human capital, and unemployment also play crucial roles in HRD. Furthermore, government governance emerges as a quasi-moderator, underlining its significance in the effective development of human resources. This study emphasizes the importance of addressing inflation, FDI, GDP, unemployment, human capital, and trade policies to foster sustainable HRD, with government governance playing a key supportive role.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the persuasive approach used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in addressing learning disturbances caused by excessive gadget use among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 112 Buton, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The rapid development of digital technology has led to increased gadget use among elementary school students, which often negatively affects students’ learning concentration, motivation, and classroom discipline. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were Islamic Religious Education teachers and fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 112 Buton. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that PAI teachers implemented a persuasive approach through several strategies, including providing religious and educational advice, individual communication, learning motivation, and discipline reinforcement through class agreements. These strategies contributed positively to students’ behavioral changes, particularly in reducing excessive gadget use and improving learning concentration.Furthermore, the supporting factors of this approach include good teacher-student relationships, students’ awareness of class rules, a conducive school environment, and teacher role modeling. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include excessive gadget use outside school, lack of parental supervision, students’ established habits, and peer environmental influence. In conclusion, the persuasive approach implemented by PAI teachers is considered fairly effective in addressing students’ learning disturbances, although it still requires strong support from family and social environments to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers' perceptions of TikTok as a learning medium and to analyze how those perceptions manifest in classroom practice at SDN 14 Lakudo, Buton Tengah Regency. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving two PAI teachers. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles et al., supported by source triangulation and member checking to ensure validity. The findings reveal that both teachers hold a positively critical perception of TikTok as a learning medium, recognizing its significant potential to enhance student engagement and learning motivation through short-form video content. However, this positive stance is consistently accompanied by heightened awareness of the risks posed by negative content that may undermine Islamic moral values. Consequently, teachers' perceptions directly shape their pedagogical practice through rigorous content selection, active supervision, and value reinforcement during every TikTok-integrated lesson. This study concludes that teacher perception, rather than institutional infrastructure, serves as the primary driver of effective and values-based digital media integration in Islamic religious education, contributing meaningfully to SDG 4 on quality education and SDG 16 on strong and accountable institutions.
