Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on the academic achievement of public high school students through a systematic literature review approach. Emotional intelligence is defined as an individual's ability to recognize, understand, manage, and express emotions adaptively, which includes five main dimensions: self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills. This study uses a systematic literature review method guided by PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). A literature search was conducted through the Google Scholar, Sinta, and DOAJ databases using the keywords "emotional intelligence", "learning achievement", "emotional intelligence", and "academic achievement" with a publication period of 2014–2024. Of the total 87 articles identified, screening based on title and abstract resulted in 43 articles, then selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 18 articles that met the requirements for in-depth analysis. The inclusion criteria included articles discussing the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement, written in Indonesian or English, having gone through a peer-reviewed process, and published in accredited journals. The synthesis results show that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant influence on the academic achievement of public high school students, with contributions ranging from 21% to 34% (R² = 0.21–0.34; p < 0.05). The dimensions of self-regulation and self-motivation were shown to be the most dominant components in influencing student academic achievement. In addition, this relationship was moderated by factors of self-confidence, parental support, and a conducive school climate. The conclusion of this study confirms that the development of emotional intelligence needs to be systematically integrated into educational programs in schools to produce students who excel academically as well as emotionally and socially mature.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the ability of PAUD RA Darul Fikri Bringin teachers in responding to the dynamics of social and cultural change, covering four dimensions: pedagogical competence and digital literacy, internalization of religious values, collaboration with families and communities, and the use of institutional supervision as a means of professional development. The research uses a qualitative approach with a field study design. Data were collected through structured participatory observation (12 sessions, 60–90 minutes per session), semi-structured in-depth interviews (45–60 minutes per informant) with 6 teachers, 1 principal, and 4 guardians, and documentation studies. Data analysis model which includes data condensation, data presentation, conclusion drawn, and verification, with data validity guaranteed through triangulation of sources and methods as well as member checks. The results show that teachers have adequate basic pedagogical competencies and a strong commitment to inculcate Islamic values through daily habits, but the digital literacy gap between teachers is quite significant—only 2 out of 6 teachers actively use digital media in learning. Collaboration with families is going quite well through parenting programs and liaison books, although some parents are still passive. Institutional supervision is still administrative and has not encouraged substantive pedagogical reflection. The research concludes that RA Darul Fikri Bringin teachers have the potential to be a bridge between tradition and modernity, but require strengthening through the development of digital-local training modules, coaching-based supervision, and integrative curriculum guidelines based on local cultural wisdom.

Abstract

This research aims to reconstruct the value of Ukhuwah Islamiyah as a cultural system in Islamic organizations, grounded in the local values of Islamic boarding schools through the Panca Jiwa Pondok framework. Islamic organizations, especially pesantren, face challenges in aligning traditional values with contemporary organizational practices. A systematic review using the PICOS approach was conducted, analyzing 23 quantitative studies retrieved from Scopus and Google Scholar. The findings reveal four key dimensions of Ukhuwah Islamiyah in organizational settings: spiritual bonding, collective empathy, relational leadership, and deliberation. These dimensions significantly enhance organizational commitment, job satisfaction, loyalty, and Islamic performance across pesantren, madrasah, and Islamic higher education institutions. The study contributes by offering a novel conceptual model of Organizational Ukhuwah that integrates Panca Jiwa Pondok’s traditional values with contemporary organizational psychology. This model provides practical guidance for pesantren leaders and policymakers to foster inclusive decision-making, strengthen leadership training, and build a supportive climate based on spiritual and collective values. The research suggests further exploration of the practical implementation of this model in diverse Islamic institutions.

Abstract

Sleep deprivation is one of the crucial factors that contribute to the decline in adolescent academic achievement, but objective measurements of this condition are still limited. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physiological insomnia symptoms, executive function (working memory and inhibitory control), and student academic achievement. The method used is a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 200 students of Vocational High Schools (SMK) in North Kalimantan. Physiological insomnia symptoms were objectively measured using Computer-Based Facial Analysis via the Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR) and Mouth Aspect Ratio (MAR) indicators, while executive function was measured using the N-Back and Stroop tasks. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with 5,000 bootstrapping resamples. The results showed that physiological insomnia symptoms had a negative, significant effect on executive function (β = -0.45; p < 0.001), while executive function had a positive, significant effect on academic achievement (β = 0.56; p < 0.001). Mediation analysis showed that working memory and inhibitory control partially mediated the relationship between insomnia and academic achievement (indirect effect = -0.254). The conclusion of this study confirms that insomnia contributes to decreased academic achievement by degrading cognitive function. From the perspective of Islamic educational psychology, these findings reinforce the importance of maintaining sleep quality as part of efforts to maintain reason (hifz al-'aql), as well as encouraging the integration of sleep hygiene education in the school environment to improve students' cognitive readiness.
