Abstract

General background: Improving science learning in elementary schools requires instructional models that activate students and support conceptual understanding. Specific background: Students at SDN Kraton showed low mastery of the life cycle topic due to passive learning and limited engagement. Knowledge gap: Few studies have examined the use of the RADEC model specifically for third-grade science learning on life cycle material using a pre–post experimental design. Aims: This study analyzes the application of the RADEC learning model to improve science learning outcomes in grade three. Results: The research employed a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 28 students. Pretest results showed only 39 percent achieving mastery, while posttest results increased to 71 percent. Statistical analysis using a paired t-test demonstrated significant differences between pretest and posttest scores, indicating that RADEC supports active participation and conceptual understanding of life cycle stages. Novelty: This study provides evidence of RADEC’s effectiveness in lower-grade science learning, particularly on a topic that often presents conceptual difficulties for young learners. Implications: RADEC can serve as an alternative model for elementary science instruction, emphasizing structured reading, discussion, explanation, and creative representation activities. Highlights• RADEC applied to life cycle learning• Improvements in elementary science outcomes• Structured active learning process Keywords: RADEC Model, Science Learning, Elementary Students, Life Cycle, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Background: Cognitive learning outcomes in science remain low due to limited student engagement and the dominance of teacher-centered instruction. Specific Background: The human respiratory system is one of the IPA topics where students often struggle to master conceptual understanding. Gap: Previous studies widely examined PBL, but few focused specifically on its role in improving cognitive performance in this topic at the junior high school level. Aim: This study investigates how the PBL model enhances students’ cognitive learning outcomes. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group was conducted involving 50 eighth-grade students. Cognitive tests (20 items, C1–C5) were administered, and data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and independent sample t-tests. Results: The experimental class showed a higher improvement (44.4 to 72.6) compared to the control class (39 to 58.2), with a significance value of 0.04. Novelty: This study provides focused evidence of PBL effectiveness on respiratory system material. Implications: PBL can be applied to promote deeper conceptual understanding and student engagement in science learning. Highlights:• PBL strengthens cognitive mastery in science• Significant score improvement compared to conventional learning• Supports active inquiry and problem-solving practices Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Cognitive Outcomes, Science Learning, Respiratory System, Junior High School

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping the character, morality, and intellectual development of the Indonesian nation while serving as an integral component of the national education system. However, the effectiveness of Islamic education implementation largely depends on the synergy between leadership and educational policies applied across institutional levels. This study aims to analyze leadership and Islamic education policies in Indonesia. The main issues examined include the analysis of Islamic education policies, the role of leaders in policy formulation, and the impact of these policies on the practice and management of Islamic education. This research employs a library research design with a descriptive qualitative approach, examining various academic literatures and recent studies from national sources. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, thematic classification, theoretical interpretation, and deductive conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Islamic education policies in Indonesia focus on improving institutional quality through curriculum enhancement, teacher professionalism, modern governance, and leadership grounded in Islamic values. The integration of religious and general sciences is realized through policies such as the Merdeka Curriculum and Madrasah Reform Policy, which emphasize Islamic character formation. Furthermore, digitalization initiatives—such as EMIS, SIMPATIKA, and the Digital Madrasah program—have enhanced the efficiency and innovation of learning processes. Nevertheless, challenges remain, including managerial disparities and low levels of digital literacy. Therefore, future policies should strengthen transformational leadership, adaptive decentralization, and the integration of Islamic ethics within all educational institutions.

Abstract

This study discusses the role of soft power of school principals through emotional intelligence in resolving internal school conflicts. This issue is important to examine because interpersonal conflicts in schools often disrupt the work and learning climate, while authoritarian approaches are no longer relevant in the era of humanistic leadership. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of emotional strategies of school principals and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of soft power effectiveness. This study employs a qualitative approach using case study methodology, with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, analyzed through the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results indicate that the primary strategies employed by school principals include empathy, dialogic communication, moral exemplary behavior, collective participation, and emotional recognition. Supporting factors include integrity, experience, collective support, and an inclusive organizational culture, while barriers include rigid bureaucracy, lack of emotional training, and low self-reflection. The conclusion of this study indicates that soft power based on emotional intelligence is an effective and strategic approach in building harmony and resolving conflicts in the school environment. These findings contribute to enriching transformative and humanistic leadership practices in the field of education.

Abstract

Indications of money politics, violations of civil servant neutrality, and intimidation of voters were found in various regions. This shows that participatory oversight is not yet fully optimal. Based on findings in the field, money politics is still rampant ahead of election day san. The methods are increasingly varied, such as the distribution of basic foodstuffs, digital transfers, and program promises. Many citizens still consider this to be "normal" in electoral political culture. This research was conducted in Lampung Province, which is a strategic location for studying participatory oversight practices in the implementation of elections. Lampung Province was chosen because it has a high level of political dynamics and a track record of innovation in community-based election oversight. The Lampung Province Bawaslu actively initiated various programs that directly involved the community in oversight activities, making it an interesting case study in the context of strengthening participatory democracy at the local level. Participatory Oversight in Preventing Violations through Oversight Villages, Socialization, and Complaint Centers First, Oversight Villages The implementation of participatory oversight in the Bawaslu's Oversight Village program in Lampung Province aims to build an election awareness culture at the level closest to the community, namely the village or sub-district. Second, Socialization The implementation of participatory oversight through socialization carried out by Bawaslu Lampung Province and regencies/cities focuses on efforts to build public awareness and encourage the community to play an active role in maintaining election integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of Management Information Systems (MIS) in improving the quality of educational services and job satisfaction at Madrasah. The research employs a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design, beginning with qualitative methods through observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by quantitative analysis using questionnaires distributed to 285 respondents. Qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while quantitative data were examined through simple and multiple linear regression with SPSS. The qualitative findings indicate that MIS supports administrative efficiency, provides accurate data, and enhances service quality and job satisfaction across five key aspects: responsiveness, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and reliability. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure and user adaptability remain. Quantitatively, statistical tests show that MIS has a significant impact on both service quality and job satisfaction, as indicated by the F-value (2.679) exceeding the F-table value (2.410) with a significance level of 0.00 < 0.05. This study emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive and sustainable MIS implementation strategy to support the educational vision at Madrasah.
