Abstract

Education plays an important role in shaping character, developing potential, and preparing students to face future challenges. Lack of appreciation for student learning outcomes is a significant issue that can negatively impact student learning motivation. This study aims to determine the application of gamification to the Permutation and Combination material implemented at SMK PGRI 3 Blitar. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) by adopting the Arikunto cycle which refers to the basic model of Kurt Lewin. The research subjects were 22 students from grade XII consisting of 7 boys and 15 girls. The research sample was taken from students in one class recommended by the mathematics subject teacher based on the consideration that the class was considered representative of the characteristics and in accordance with the research needs. The application of the gamification approach was carried out according to the procedures of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. Data collection instruments and techniques were carried out through tests and observations. Tests were used to measure the level of students' conceptual understanding of the permutation and combination material, while observations were carried out to monitor learning activities, student engagement, and their responses during the learning process. The results of the study showed that the final cycle test had achieved classical completeness with a completeness percentage of 81.81% and the results of observations of teacher and student activities at each meeting were in the very good criteria.

Abstract

Mathematical errors refer to students’ inaccuracies in understanding, applying, or communicating mathematical concepts and procedures, which lead to answers that deviate from the expected results. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the types of errors made by Grade X students at SMK PGRI 4 Blitar in solving trigonometry problems, specifically on the topics of special angles, the sine rule, the cosine rule, and the area of a triangle. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method involving three students selected based on their levels of mathematical ability: high, medium, and low. Data were collected through written tests and interviews, and were analyzed using three categories of errors: conceptual, procedural, and communicative. The findings indicate that students made various types of errors—including conceptual, procedural, and communicative—committed by participants SP1, SP2, and SP3. These errors stemmed from a lack of understanding of basic concepts, incorrect problem-solving procedures, and difficulties in communicating mathematical ideas, including the representation and notation of mathematical symbols during the learning process. This study provides a clear picture of the challenges students face in understanding trigonometry and offers valuable insights for evaluating and improving mathematics teaching strategies at the vocational high school level.

Abstract

Graphical Abstract   Highlight Research The Linf CL value in male karumba was 44.21 mm and female was 42.8 mm, with negative allometric growth. The theoretical maximum lifespan (Tmax) of individual karumba, estimated using the VBGF, was 4 to 6 years. The growth coefficient (K) K. karumba is considered quite slow between 0.5-0.9 per year. The exploitation value of karumba is considered vulnerable at this time so that there is a need for management in terms of capture. The results show that recruitment occurs almost every month. Estimated peak recruitment of karumba is around November and January.     Abstract This study provides the first information on the population parameters of Karumballichirus karumba. A total of 902 K. karumba samples were collected, consisted of 412 males and 490 females. The von Bertalanffy parameters were estimated to have asymptotic length L∞ (mm): male = 44.21, female = 42.8, and pooled = 44, negative allometric condition factor, growth rate K (/years): male = 0.58, female = 0.67, and pooled = 0.9. Growth performance index (ϕ') : male = 3.05, female = 3.08, and pooled = 3.24. The natural mortality rate M (/years): male =0.7, female = 0.8, and pooled = 1, and shrimp mortality rate F (/years): male = 1.57, female = 2.89, and pooled = 3.12. The current exploitation rate is slightly higher than optimal exploitation rate = 0.5, indicating that there is a need to regulate fishing so that it is sustainable. The size of the first time caught is still below (1/2 Linf); thus, the reproductive opportunities of K. karumba are guaranteed, and in terms of utilization, fall into the category of sustainable fishing. The estimated life span of K. karumba is 4 to 6 years. Reproduction occurs continuously every month, indicated by the discovery of ovigerous females. The highest recruitment occurs in January and November. YPR (yield-per-recruitment) shows that the value of Fcur = 3.12 years⁻¹ in the estimated population is lower than Fmax = 5 years⁻¹ and above F05 = 1.99 years⁻¹ and F01 = 1.8 years⁻¹.

Abstract

This research explores the yellow rice sprinkling tradition practiced by the Malay community in Kelurahan Baru, Arut Selatan, Kotawaringin Barat Regency. Originating from the pre-Islamic era, this ritual has been transformed over time through Islamic adaptation. While often mistaken as a Dayak custom, it is actually rooted in Malay traditions, shaped by local cultural interactions including elements of Dayak culture and enriched by Islamic teachings.Today, the ritual is typically performed during significant events such as weddings, religious ceremonies, and welcoming guests. Though its outward form has evolved, it retains deep symbolic meaning, representing prayers for protection, well-being, and gratitude. The practice now often includes Islamic elements like sholawat (praises for the Prophet) and intentions directed to Allah SWT, highlighting its religious integration. This qualitative study investigates how the ritual is conducted and its meanings within the community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with community elders, religious leaders, and local residents. The findings show that the ritual is still carried out with a sense of sacredness, usually by respected cultural figures, and is often combined with the tampung tawar ceremony. Ultimately, this tradition reflects a harmonious blend of ancestral heritage and Islamic values within Malay cultural identity. REFERENCE Afriansyah, R. (2021). Abstract

The Silek Rantak Kudo Dance, a rich expression of Indonesian folklore and cultural identity—particularly in West Sumatra—requires preservation. To support this effort, a photographic experiment was conducted to explore visual representations capable of conveying the folkloric elements embedded in the dance. Notably, there is a lack of scholarly literature on dance photography in Indonesia, making this study a pioneering contribution to the field. The experiment produced 66 photographs of the Silek Rantak Kudo Dance, with 10% selected for inclusion in a questionnaire aimed at evaluating whether respondents could effectively perceive the folkloric content. This research employed Visual Arts-Based Research Practices, with data collected through a literature review and questionnaires completed by 396 participants. Findings indicate that dance photography of Silek Rantak Kudo should emphasize traditional elements in both movement and visual representation to ensure its recognition as a traditional West Sumatran art form. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that photographic techniques—such as motion photography and posed imagery—can serve as effective tools for promoting and preserving the dance on social media among the Indonesian public.

Abstract

In this study, a descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collection tools consisting of tests, interviews, and document analysis. The subjects involved were three seventh-grade students from class VII E at SMPN 1 Sanankulon, selected based on test results and recommendations from their mathematics teacher, representing three levels of cognitive ability: high, moderate, and low. After analyzing the collected data, it was found that each student demonstrated potential for critical thinking, with varying levels of achievement influenced by their conceptual understanding and ability to process information. The assessment of critical thinking skills was based on Facione’s four indicators: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. The findings showed that: (1) Students with high ability were able to solve each problem while clearly addressing all four of Facione’s indicators and applying accurate strategies and calculations. (2) Students with moderate ability did not fully demonstrate all four indicators but showed sufficient computational skills and arrived at correct answers, although they were not thorough in documenting their solution processes. (3) Students with low ability failed to meet all four indicators comprehensively, were less meticulous in presenting their solutions, and made frequent errors in their calculations.

Abstract

Abstract

Science learning, particularly on the topic of the solar system, involves a variety of conceptual understandings. The solar system material can be categorized into four types of concepts: abstract concepts (43%), concrete concepts (14%), abstract concepts with concrete examples (29%), and descriptive concepts (14%). Given the dominance of abstract consept, the role of interactive multimedia is essential in helping students develop a solid understanding of the subject matter. Interactive media-based learning is considered an essential innovation in science education, offering new ways to engage students and support conceptual comprehension through visual and interactive elements. This study aims to analyze the initial needs for interactive media in teaching the solar system as part of promoting innovative science learning. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing both literature reviews and field observation as its primary data collection techniques. Data were gathered through teacher interviews, student questionnaires, and a review of relevant references. The findings revealed that students tend to prefer using interactive media in learning, and teachers also favor digital media in the classroom. However, the current use of digital media is still limited, mostly relying on PowerPoint presentations and online videos that are not specifically designed for the learning objectives.

Abstract

The consistently low numeracy performance of primary school students, as evidenced in national and international assessments, highlights the pressing need for pedagogical reform that prioritizes meaningful and contextualized learning. This study aims to develop a conceptual framework for mathematics instruction grounded in deep learning to enhance students’ critical numeracy skills in accordance with Indonesia’s national development goals, Asta Cita. Using a systematic literature review combined with thematic analysis, the study reviewed 35 peer-reviewed international journal articles. The selected articles focused on primary students aged 7–12 and were analyzed using document analysis techniques. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis was applied to uncover key pedagogical approaches. Findings indicate that deep learning strategies such as real-world problem solving, project-based learning, reflective inquiry, and differentiated instruction, effectively promote higher-order thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and lifelong learning habits. These strategies also align with efforts to ensure inclusive, culturally relevant education and national autonomy. The study concludes that embedding deep learning within primary mathematics instruction not only strengthens numeracy achievement but also contributes to realizing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045.
