Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze and test the effect of customer loyalty on consumer credit profitability. Loyalty Index Score was developed to determine the level of customers’ loyalty level through 4 main variables; Longevity, Depth, Breadth and Referrals. The effect of Loyalty Index Score on profitability was further tested by path analysis to find out the significance direct relationship between loyalty and profitablity and the indirect relationship between the two variable through bucket. The result showed that loyalty has a significant effect on profitability either directly or indirectly. It was concluded that direct loyalty effect on profitability is lower than that of the indirect effect through bucket. The conclusion could be made by analyzing the available data from personal loan customers in one of the biggest multinational bank in indonesia during October 2010 until March 2011.

Abstract

An unexpected growth of slum settlement has been happening in most of Indonesian cities. “Kampung Braga” is one of the slum areas located in one of strategic areas in the centre of Bandung city. It is an enclave that lies along the side of Cikapundung river and surrounded by the tourism area. This research analyzed characteristics and untidiness level of “Kampung Braga”. The untidiness level assessment was based on dimensions (aspects) stated by Minister of Public Works and Housing’s Regulation no. 02/PRT/M/2016 regarding housing and slum area quality development: (1) building; (2) surrounding road; (3) water; (4) drainage; (5) waste management; (6) trash management; and (7) fire security. This research also formulated composite index that can be used in area quality assessment. The index consists of the following aspects or indicators: (1) The buildings’ density; (2) people’s density per lot; (3) availability of infrastructures and utilities; (4) availability of open public space; (5) inexpediency to area’s spatial planning; and (6) lot’s ownership. The index was determined or calculated based on weighted average of those indicators. The results show that(1) most of the residents are small (low scale) entrepreneurs in trading, with low level of education and income; (2)most of the buildings are under 45 m2, occupied by 8 people (mostly consists of 2 households), lie on high density location, and in improper condition; (3) Low level infrastructures (road, water, waste treatment facility, drainage, and green area); and (4)spatially, the buildings lie irrelarly, and some of those are also located at the bank of Cikapundung river. The overall condition is also reflected in the result of the quantitative assessment that the quality of “Kampung Braga” is categorized as “Very Low” which score of 0.25 (0.00 – 1.00 scale), and “Very High Slum” (score 88).  Therefore, “Kampung Braga” needs to be transformed in order to enhance quality of the area, as well as people’s quality of life.

Abstract

Market share on Islamic Insurance is still very small compared to conventional insurance. Islamic insurance companies must be able to compete with conventional insurance in order to increase their market share. Efficiency and Productivity are factors that must be improved so that Islamic insurance can compete with conventional insurance. This study aims to analyze the level of efficiency and productivity of Islamic insurance during the 2016-2018 period. The study was conducted on 48 Islamic insurance companies consisting of 26 Islamic life insurance companies and 22 Islamic general insurance companies. Efficiency analysis use the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach and productivity analysis use the Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI). The novelty of this study, among others, involves Islamic general insurance in the productivity analysis which has not been studied so far. The results of the analysis shows that the majority of Islamic life insurance and Islamic general insurance are inefficient during the 2016-2018 period. The size of the company which represents the total assets is the factor that have a positive and significant effect on the efficiency value. The results of the productivity analysis shows that the productivity level of both sharia life insurance and general sharia insurance during the 2016-2018 period is influenced by technological change factors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of guarantee products and optimize guarantee portfolio at PT Penjaminan ABC. The method used in forming the optimal guarantee portfolio is the Markowitz method and the single index model. The results of the formation of optimal portfolios based on the Markowitz method show that there are five eligible guarantee products included in the optimal guarantee portfolio, namely construction financing, counter bank, general financing, micro financing, and multi-use financing. While custom bond, surety bonds, and other guarantees are not included in the optimal portfolio. In contrast to the Markowitz method, based on the single index model, all guarantee products are not eligible to be included in the optimal guarantee portfolio. Managerial implications of the optimal guarantee product portfolio is an increase in guarantee returns which will further increase company profits and increase company equity. An increase in company equity will reduce the gearing ratio in order to comply with regulations, because the gearing ratio is calculated by dividing the outstanding guarantee volume by the total equity.

Abstract

The bioactive components of malacca (Emblica officinalis), which consist of phenolic, alkaloids, phytosterols, organic acids, and vitamins, are valuable for human health. The yield and quality of the bioactive components in the extract highly depend on the extraction technique, so it is essential to know the development of research on extraction techniques of the bioactive components of malacca fruit. In addition, the bioactive components in the extract have limitations in their application due to their stability, solubility, absorption, and bioavailability properties. Currently, nanoencapsulation technology has been applied to extracts of bioactive components to improve their properties. This review aims to provide comprehensive information about extraction techniques to obtain bioactive components of malacca fruit and presents the technique and purpose of the nanoencapsulation of malacca fruit extract. In addition to conventional techniques, several modern extraction techniques such as microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasound (UAE), pulsed electric field (PEF), and supercritical fluid (SFE) have been used to extract bioactive components of malacca fruit. Modern extraction techniques can produce extracts of bioactive components with higher yields than conventional techniques. The application of nanoencapsulation technology to malacca fruit extract consists of nanoliposomes and nanoparticles can increase permeability, antioxidant activity, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory properties of malacca fruit extract.

Abstract

All ASEAN countries have achieved extraordinarily high growth rates in their history of economic development. They relied on new energy efficiency technologies to reduce their energy intensity while avoiding the rebound effect. Academics debate told that the rebound effect happened due to the false policies. Hence, the other strategy to stimulate increased energy efficiency in the economic sector is essential for government policy in overcoming resource constraints. This study used the logarithmic-mean Divisia index (LMDI) decomposition and KAYA identity to recognize the determinant factors of carbon emissions and rebound effect changes in ASEAN countries. This study also analyzed the factors behind the shift in ASEAN's carbon emissions and identified the differences between ASEAN member countries. The carbon emissions are decomposed into the population, GDP growth, energy intensity, and carbon intensity. One of the purposes of this paper advocated enhancing efficiency, notably in the energy efficiency sector's plan to encourage government measures. According to the research findings, substantial energy rebounds in Indonesia have revealed that energy efficiency gains in Indonesia may be related to the rebound effect. Indonesia sought to go in this direction, with the national energy policy aiming to lower energy efficiency by 1% each year to stimulate energy savings in all sectors. Abstract

The combined assurance model plays a pivotal role in integrating a company’s governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) processes. More than a decade after the South African financial market initiated the model through King III Report in 2009, the Indonesian financial market strived to adopt it in 2013. However, very few companies in Indonesia have reported its implementation. We hypothesized that institutional theory could explain the phenomenon. This comparative study thus used qualitative and quantitative approaches to analyze the adoption of the combined assurance model in South African and Indonesian markets. Qualitative content analysis was employed to interrogate the annual reports of 130 companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the Indonesia Stock Exchange to identify professions and their activities in implementing the model. Afterwards, an estimation model was built using binary logistic regression based on the identified variables. It was found that regulative and normative pillars were the most determining factors in implementing a combined assurance model. In addition, it was found that the integrated report approach and market capitalization were associated with model implementation. These findings can be the basis for state and professions (i.e., authorities, regulators, and standard-setting bodies), especially in Indonesia, to enhance the companies’ integrated GRC. Abstract

Arabica coffee’s grounds are the wastes from the production of coffee beverages and are known to contain several active compounds that can be used as an antioxidant. This research is therefore a follow-up work on the use of these coffee grounds nanoparticles as an active compound in gel production. This study focuses on the antioxidant effects of the gel product, using Box-Behnken Design with 3 factors(x) (carbopol 940, TEA, and coffee grounds nanoparticles) at 3 levels. Based on the results of this study, it is found that the high antioxidant effect with an average inhibition value was 43.485%.Furthermore, data analysis on the other hand showed a significant effect of linear Box-Behnken Design model on percentage inhibition with a p-value greater than 0.0001 and insignificant lack of fit validated by an F-value of 0.60, in addition to a p-value of 0.7621. The optimal solution of about 0.50% carbopol, 940 formulation, 0.40% TAE, and 2,313% nanoparticles produced 45,636% inhibition value with 0.812 desirability. Moreover, this arabica coffee grounds can be claimed as a new invention that has great potential in the health sector as an active compound for pharmaceutical preparations. Keywords: Inhibition, Nanogel, Coffee Grounds, Box-behnken
