Abstract

Tanaman gedi (Abelmoschus manihot) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai sumber antioksidan. Selama ini, ekstraksi daun gedi dilakukan dengan teknik maserasi sederhana sehingga kondisi proses optimum untuk pengembangan skala industri belum diketahui. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendapatkan kondisi optimum proses ekstraksi dengan menggunakan teknik maserasi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Agro Kimia, Jurusan Teknologi Industri Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, sejak Januari 2014 sampai Desember 2014. Rancangan percobaan menggunakan Central Composite Design (CCD), terdiri atas 20 run percobaan dengan 6 ulangan pada titik pusat (centre point). Analisis regresi dan keragaman dilakukan dengan menggunakan Software Design Expert Ver. 9.0. Trial. Setiap respon dari proses ekstraksi digunakan untuk mengembangkan sebuah model matematis yang berkorelasi dengan flavonoid total menurut persamaan polinomial. Selanjutnya ditentukan flavonoid total ekstrak daun gedi dan diuji aktivitas antioksidannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kondisi proses optimum dengan menggunakan metode CCD diperoleh pada lama waktu ekstraksi 4,83 jam, suhu ekstraksi 34,33 oC dan kecepatan pengadukan 322 rpm dengan total flavonoid yang dihasilkan sebesar 55,41 mg g-1 serta aktivitas antioksidan dalam IC50 sebesar 383,49 ppm. Faktor paling berpengaruh pada proses ekstraksi daun gedi adalah waktu ekstraksi > kecepatan pengadukan > suhu ekstraksi.

Abstract

There are some approaches that can be done to quantify the risk for investors in order to produce maximum yields and one of the models used is the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT). APT is considered more flexible than the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) because the model can use a variety of various macroeconomic factors in calculating the risk premium of an asset or to establish a model of asset valuation. Macroeconomic factors of an established model can change over time so does the risk premium contained. The purpose of this study is to do analysis using APT whether macroeconomic variables (oil prices, the exchange rate of IDR against the USD, and the rate of inflation) are factors that affected stock returns in sectoral index in Indonesia. This study uses the time span from January 2007 to December 2012 with the object of study is 9 different sectors in sectoral stocks indice, whereas the method used is multiple linear regression. This study concludes that among the three macroeconomic factor that are used as research material (crude oil prices, the exchange rate of the rupiah against the U.S. dollar, and inflation), the dollar exchange rate is the most significant factors in measuring the sensitivity of return of sectoral stocks indice.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of changes in status, employee engagement, and the utilization of information technology on the quality of financial reporting. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine changes in the status of Bogor Agricultural University. Moreover we employ a multiple regression analysis to examine the effect of employee engagement and information technology in performance financial of report.  In addition, Ultrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) was used to examine the financial human resource mapping. The results of ANOVA test showed that there was no significant difference of the financial management of Bogor Agricultural University before and after the implementation of Public Service Board (BLU). Furthermore, multiple linear regression test results showed that the factors that affect the performance of financial reports are employee engagement and use of information technology. However, it is found that the factor that really affects the performace of financial reports is the use of information technology. Finally, the test results of the mapping showed that employee engagement of human resources staff of Bogor Agricultural University are in medium position indicating that it needs to be maintained and improved

Abstract

The demand for stevia extract consumption as an alternative sweetener that contains stevioside with zero-calorie is increasing. However, dark color and high tannin content from stevia leaf extract causes a disturbing aftertaste and reduces interest in consumption. Therefore, the purification process is a mandatory step to be done. Several studies on purification methods show the best approach by adsorption using bentonite. However, natural bentonite has limited adsorption capacity and low selectivity. An activation with acid and high temperature is expected to increase the adsorption capacity of color and its selectivity on maintaining the stevioside at the extract. This study aimed to obtain the optimum acid concentration and temperature for the activation using the Response Surface Method (RSM) experimental design and its application to the purification of stevia leaf extract. Based on the parameter of methylene blue number, the most optimum concentration of H2SO4 used for activation was 0.17 N for both natural bentonite. The heating temperature was 358°C for Na-bentonite and 481°C for Ca bentonite. The maximum adsorption capacities of activated Na and Ca-bentonite were increased from 15.65 and 38.23 mg g-1 to 197.72 and 169.52 mg g-1, respectively. The best adsorbent used for purification is Ca-activated, which increased extract clarification up to 81.37% at 655 nm and 86.64% at 410 nm compared to natural Ca bentonite. It also reduced tannin up to 97.46% and was more selective to recover 50.64% stevia content in the solution, which was higher than other previously reported studies.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the structural and electrical properties of silica from rice husks recovered by the process of ashing on a medium-scale furnace with a capacity of 15 kg. Rice husks were burned at a heating rate of 1.5°C/min to a temperature of 900°C, where the temperature was retained for 1 hour each at 400°C and 900°C. The methodology of this research was conducted through the process of ashing, extraction of silica, and characterization of its structural electrical properties. The silica extracted from rice husk ash had a relatively low water content by the low absorption intensity of the group –OH at 3610 cm-1. The silica was dominated more by the siloxane group (Si-O-Si) compared with the silanol group (Si-OH). Based on XRD analysis, the silica structure was confirmed as tetragonal. The silica also had a decreased resistance, impedance, and inductance as the frequency increased. These results indicate that the obstacles contained in silica content decrease with an increase in frequency. The decreasing of dielectric constants was caused by the frequency affecting the capacitance; i.e., increased frequency caused more waves to be transmitted each second. The electric current was turned before the capacitor plate was fully charged, which caused quick charge drainage in the capacitor plate and therefore reduced the ability of a material to store the electric charge.

Abstract

Strategi ideal dalam manajemen rantai pasok adalah menekankan adanya efisiensi dan mengelola kemampuan dalam ketepatan merespon permintaan konsumen yangdiwujudkan dengan aplikasi kebijakan perusahaan dalam mengoptimalkan enam faktor pendorong kinerja rantai pasokan yaitu fasilitas, persediaan, transportasi, informasi, sumber daya dan harga secara menyeluruh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merumuskan struktur rantai pasok beras dan penggunaan gudang yang optimal di Perum BULOG Divre DKI Jakarta dengan (i) menganalisis optimasi struktur rantai pasok beras dan penggunaan gudang yang optimal menggunakan model goal programming dan (ii) menganalisis biaya transportasi distribusi beras Raskin dengan membandingkan biaya yang menggunakan tarif transportasi tetap dengan tarif transportasi yang berbeda untuk setiap wilayah titik distribusi. Dalam kondisi optimal maka pasokan beras dari wilayah Jawa Barat seluruhnya dilakukan melalui pengadaan regional untuk wilayah Jakarta dan Serang sedangkan pasokan beras dari wilayah Sulawesi Selatan dilakukan melalui pengadaan regional ke Jakarta dan Lebak, movenas langsung untuk Tangerang, Serang dan Lebak serta dengan transit di gudang Jakarta untuk Serang dan Lebak. Penggunaan gudang yang dapat disewakan untuk keperluan tugas komersial hanya terdapat di Jakarta dan di Cikande Tangerang Biaya transportasi distribusi Raskin yang dihitung dengan tarif berbeda untuk setiap wilayah lebih kecil jika dibandingkan biaya transportasi distribusi Raskin yang dihitung dengan tarif tetap untuk setiap wilayah.Ideal strategy in supply chain management is to emphasize the efficiency and to manage capability for responding consumer demand appropriately which is realized with application of company policy by simultaneously optimizing six supply chain performance drivers: facilities, inventory, transportation, information, resources and price. The purpose of this study is to formulate the optimal rice supply chain structure and use of the warehouse in Perum BULOG Divre DKI Jakarta by (i) analyzing the optimization of the rice supply chain structure and the use of warehouse using goal programming approach and (ii) analyzing transportation cost of rice distribution by comparing the cost of transport with fixed rates and with different rates for each area of distribution points. In optimal conditions, the supply of rice from West Java province is entirely done by regional procurement to Jakarta and Serang region while the supply of rice from South Sulawesi province is done by regional procurement to Jakarta and Lebak region, movenas directly to Tangerang, Lebak and Serang region and movenas by transit in Jakarta warehouses to Serang and Lebak region. The use of warehouses that can be rented for commercial assignment is in Jakarta region and Cikande Tangerang region. Transportation costs of rice distribution calculated by different rates for each region is smaller than transportation costs of rice distribution calculated by fixed rates for each region.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and analyze the food system risk management of the Baduy Tribe and its managerial implications for food security. The scope of this study was limited to the huma rice food system. The research method utilized was the ethnographic study to obtain primary data. The data were analyzed using the ISO 31000 risk management process approach. Based on this study’s results, the creative and innovative determination in Baduy Tribe did not lead to the modernization of technology but referred to a facilitated way of life in achieving goals. The risks associated with the development of science and technology, as well as its dependence on nature, were in the high category for the Baduy’s indigenous ban (pikukuh) did not accept the use of technology and formal education. The risks associated with food availability and post-harvest food access were in the low category due to the risk management process implemented by the Baduy Tribe hereditarily through the leuit storage system. The findings on an innovative food system risk management of the Baduy Tribe is expected to provide a managerial perspective on the food system to achieve national food security. Abstract

The rapid development in the fashion industry due to the increasing use of technology shifts conventional methods of selling to online methods. Glory Online Store is one of the online stores that took the opportunity by selling fashion products for women via Instagram. To compete and gain more customers, Glory changed their operation strategy from drop shipper and reseller systems into an independent production. Hence, Glory requires the right operating strategy to maximize its business performance. This study aimed to: (1) identify the business processes on Glory’s Business internal environment, (2) identify the organizational structure on Glory’s Business internal environment, (3) formulate the Glory business operation strategy based on the results of the SWOT analysis evaluation and (4) redesign business processes on Glory’s Business internal environment. The research employed BPMN and SWOT analysis. In-depth interviews were used to collect the data. This study analyzed the operations and seek for improvements to its business processes through BPMN. The mapping of internal and external factors was completed to find the operational strategy. Abstract

Penghilangan zat pencemar berupa senyawa organik, amonium, nitrit dan besi serta mangan pada proses pengolahan air dilakukan dengan proses oksidasi seperti dengan aerasi, maupun dengan bahan kimia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan kinerja terbaik untuk proses oksidasi yaitu kemampuan mereduksi bahan pencemar pada konsentrasi dan waktu reaksi optimum dari penggunaan oksidator : klorin, ozon dan peroxone (H2O2/O3). Percobaan dirancang dengan central composite design  (CCD) sementara untuk mendapatkan kondisi proses yang optimum dianalisa dengan response surface method (RSM).  Percobaan untuk memperoleh komposisi konsentrasi dan waktu reaksi masing-masing bahan kimia oksidator (klorin, ozon dan peroxone) dilakukan sebanyak 13 percobaan. Optimasi pemakaian klorin menggunakan SRM menghasilkan reduksi senyawa organik (KMnO4) sebesar 75,1% l pada konsentrasi 15,25 ppm dan waktu reaksi 17,07 menit. Optimasi pemakaian ozon menghasilkan reduksi senyawa organik (KMnO4) sebesar 26,9% pada konsentrasi ozon 4,04 ppm dan waktu reaksi 12,1 menit. Optimasi oksidator peroxone mampu mereduksi 41,5% senyawa organik (KMnO4) pada konsentrasi 4,04 ppm dan waktu reaksi 12,1 menit.
