Abstract

With the projection of the world population reaching 9.6 billion by 2050, the challenge of increasing foodproductionbecomes crucial. The lack of agricultural production growth can pose a threat of food crisis with wide-rangingimpactsoneconomic and social stability. The Indonesian government has responded by enacting Food Law Draft No. 18 of 2012, withthree main paradigms: Food Sovereignty, Food Self-Sufficiency, and Food Security. However, other challenges arise, suchas workforce regeneration in agriculture and reduction of agricultural land. Zero Waste Integrated FarmingSystem(ZWIFS), which integrates agriculture, fisheries, and livestock farming, offers a solution that can address all of thesechallenges. This system focuses on the harmony between natural resources, human resources, and the environment, withazero waste system approach. In the ZWIFS, elements such as aquaponic vegetable plants, chicken coops, maggotcultivation, and fish ponds interact synergistically. However, the management and maintenance of these various elementsrequire efficient monitoring and automation systems. This research aims to design and develop monitoring andautomationsystems in ZWIFS. This system includes real-time monitoring of air temperature, air humidity, water temperature, waterlevel, water pH, and water TDS. In addition, the automation system includes scheduled feeding, pumpandaeratorregulation, and automatic water sampling. The integration of this technology is expected to create an efficient, sustainable, and waste-free ZWIFS, providing positive impacts both economically and environmentally. Abstract

The availability of safe, clean water is a global priority, especially with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.However, data indicates that Indonesia still faces obstacles in meeting these goals, with most households experiencing limitedaccess to quality drinking water. This is an urgency because poor water quality can cause serious illnesses such as diarrhea which contributes to a high number of deaths each year, so assessing water quality is crucial, considering criteria such as pH, TDS, bacteria, and other physical factors. Therefore, monitoring and managing the Home Reverse Osmosis Dispenser system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) is an effective solution in monitoring water quality in real-time. The system monitors pH, TDS, temperature, and water level, with automatic controls to ensure water safety. Integration with UV water sterilizers aims to improve water quality by killing pathogenic microorganisms. Test results show the effectiveness of the system in generating accurate data, with low measurement differences between sensor readings and digital standardized comparison tools. The measurement accuracy rate for the pH sensor is 97.81%, for the TDS sensor is 96.76%, the temperature sensor is 98.9%, and the water level sensor 98.9%. The performance of each sensor produces the measurement value of each parameter very well. The addition of the water flow speed measurement feature and the calculation of the amount of water usage using the flow sensor also showed a high level of accuracy, namely 98.83% for measuring the speed of water flow and 97.69% for calculating the amount of water usage. Therefore, this system is expected to be an appropriate solution in increasing the availability of safe drinking water in urban areas in Indonesia in accordance with the SDGs. Abstract

Cold storage plays a crucial role in maintaining the freshness and quality of post-harvest products during distribution, which is key to reducing food loss and food waste. In Indonesia, food loss and food waste account for a total of 31% of food production, with economic losses amounting to approximately 550 trillion rupiah per year. One of the main challenges in cold storage is the optimal regulation of temperature and humidity, which can now be addressed with the use of environmentally friendlyhydrocarbon refrigerants. However, the potential hazards of hydrocarbon leakage, such as food contamination by carcinogeniccompounds like benzene, necessitate advanced safety systems. This study proposes the design of a comprehensive simulation system for safety and control in post-harvest cold storage using Schneider Modicon TM221 PLC and Weintek HMI. The humidity control system employs PID cascade to regulate the flow control of the humidifier, with PID tuning using the first Ziegler-Nichols method. This system aims to enhance cooling efficiency while ensuring the quality and safety of stored products. Through comprehensive simulation, this study is expected to provide deep insights into the interaction between control and safety systems and their contribution to reducing food loss and maintaining the quality standards of post-harvest products. Keywords: Cold Storage, Hydrocarbon Refrigerants, PLC, HMI, PID Cascade Control, Humidity Control.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a large population and is ranked 4th in the world. However, the population in Indonesia is not evenly distributed and is mostly concentrated on the island of Java. This has a big impact on the agricultural sector, namely the reduction in agricultural land. Mitigation and adaptation ef orts are very important in dealing with this phenomenon, such as ef icient management of water resources, diversification of crops that are more drought resistant, and implementation of innovative agricultural technology. An innovative solution to overcome quality and quantity in the agricultural sector is to implement a vertical farming system. The application of vertical farming does not use soil as a planting medium and provides nutrients, but uses water flowed by a pump. Vertical Farming uses LED lights as additional light to support plant photosynthesis at night. However, using LED lights and pumps in a vertical farming system will require quite a lot of electricity. So it is necessary to addsolar panels to meet electricity needs. In this research, solar panels are connected to a battery to store electrical power. This vertical farming system prototype has been realised and is working well. Test results show that this system can be applied much better and more widely. Keywords— LED, Vertical Farming, solar panel

Abstract

Digital talent is crucial in the thriving Information Technology (IT) industry. Hence, numerous countries seek digital skills to stay competitive in the current era. In Indonesia, the challenge lies not in quantity but in the readiness of digital talents to enter the professional world. To address this issue, we observed the IT career readiness of fresh graduates and senior students from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Brawijaya. The observation revealed that 82.9% of 70 respondents stated doubts about their career preparations in the IT domain. These doubts stemmed from perceived inadequacy in technical skills, lack of readiness in developing a curriculum vitae and facing job interviews. Given the need for career preparation in the IT domain, we address the development of a platform to assist aspiring IT talents. This study proposes a solution as an IT career preparation application designed using the Design Thinking method The proposed design was tested using the Usability Evaluation, yielding an effectiveness rate of 100% and an efficiency value of 0.08 goals/sec. Furthermore, a satisfaction test was conducted using the SUS questionnaire, resulting in a score of 94.75 (excellent).

Abstract

In several major cities throughout Indonesia, the air pollution represents a significant issue. The escalation of motorized vehicle usage yields increased concentrations of carbon monoxide gas, as one of the primary sources of gas pollution. This study introduced a tool designed and implemented for detecting levels of carbon monoxide gas and providing accurate indications. The tool used an MQ-7 gas sensor in combination with a dot matrix display for this purpose.  The detection apparatus was comprised of an IC 74HC595, an ATMEGA16 microcontroller, a BC557 PNP transistor, and a LED dot matrix. The ATMEGA16 microcontroller served as the primary control device of the system. It received input signals from the MQ-7 gas sensor and subsequently converted them into digital format for display on the dot matrix. The IC 74HC595 and transistor BC557 were utilized as the column controller and line controller, respectively, in the 5x8 LED dot matrix.  The gas level measurement at 0 cm exhibited the lowest error of approximately 0.6 %, measuring 300 ppm CO gas levels. On the other hand, at 10 cm, the result showed approximately an error of 6.7 % for a CO gas level of 200 ppm.

Abstract

A vehicle accident report system was designed to detect accidents accurately and send message to related person. However, after accident, some components or modules can be damaged and it may cause failure of accident detection. Therefore, Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) method was implemented in the system to mask faults within the modules and ensure the system to continue working. TMR is one of passive hardware redundancy methods. The system includes three MPU-6050 sensors functioning as vehicle tilt sensors to provide hardware redundancy, a TC9548A module serving as an I2C multiplexer, an Arduino Nano acting as a microcontroller and voter, and a NodeMCU ESP8266 responsible for transmitting message. Based on experiment results, the TMR system has a reliability value of 0.9928, a failure rate value of 0.0004/cycle, and accuracy of 3 sensor value of 85%. While, the non-redundancy system has a reliability value of 0.9286, a failure rate value of 0.0053/cycle, and accuracy of single sensor value of 57%. The results of the system process were sent to and displayed via an e-mail. It can be concluded that the TMR system has better performance than the non-redundancy one.
