Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic financial literacy (IFL) in mediating the relationship between conditional cash transfers and human capital development among beneficiaries of Indonesia’s Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH). Using a quantitative cross-sectional design and data from 420 households across three provinces, the study applies Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed model. The findings reveal that while cash transfers have a positive but limited direct effect on human capital development, Islamic financial literacy exerts a stronger and more significant influence. Importantly, IFL mediates more than half of the total effect of cash transfers, transforming financial assistance into productive investments in education, healthcare, and economic resilience. Furthermore, IFL facilitates the conversion of financial resources into amal shalih, reflected in ethical financial behavior such as zakat participation, avoidance of riba-based debt, and socially oriented economic practices. This study contributes to the literature by integrating Islamic ethical dimensions into human capital theory and operationalizing amal shalih as a measurable economic outcome. The findings suggest that poverty alleviation programs should incorporate value-based financial education to enhance both economic and moral development outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in instilling honesty values in students and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design conducted at SD IT Bumi Sholawat Wates. The research subjects include PAI teachers, the principal, and fifth-grade students, selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques consist of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation used to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that the efforts of PAI teachers in instilling honesty values are implemented through integrated strategies, including role modeling, habituation, providing advice, supervision, and the application of sanctions. Role modeling emerges as the most dominant strategy as it provides concrete examples that are easily imitated by students, while habituation strengthens the internalization of values through daily practices. The success of instilling honesty values is supported by a religious school environment and institutional support; however, it is still challenged by external environmental influences and low personal awareness among students. This study emphasizes the importance of the teacher’s role as a role model and highlights the need for synergy between schools, families, and communities in fostering students’ honesty character in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the principal's interpersonal communication through the dimensions of openness, empathy, and support and how these three dimensions significantly contribute to improving teacher performance at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung. The urgency of this research is motivated by the limited number of qualitative studies that deeply explore the practice of interpersonal communication of principals in the context of religious-based private vocational high schools in Indonesia. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the principal's interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in building a healthy, open, and mutually supportive working relationship between the principal and teachers. The openness dimension is realized through regular discussion forums and teacher involvement in decision-making. The empathy dimension is reflected in the principal's attitude of actively listening and understanding the teacher's condition. Meanwhile, the support dimension is present in the form of motivation, supervision, and encouragement of professional development. The findings of this study provide a conceptual contribution to the development of educational management studies while offering a practical perspective for principals in optimizing interpersonal communication as an effective leadership strategy.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: School principals often face conflicts that undermine school climate and educational effectiveness, particularly in Indonesian educational settings where diverse stakeholders have competing interests. This study aims to examine the contribution of emotional intelligence and leadership style to the conflict management skills of school principals, particularly within the context of educational leadership in Muhammadiyah secondary schools. Methodology: The study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the direct relationships among variables. The measurement instruments included an emotional intelligence scale based on Goleman's model, a leadership style scale grounded in situational leadership theory, and a conflict management skills scale adapted from the Thomas–Kilmann model. Main Findings: The results indicated that emotional intelligence (β = 0.531, p < 0.001) and leadership style (β = 0.309, p = 0.013) significantly contributed to conflict management skills, with emotional intelligence emerging as the stronger predictor. The research model demonstrated good fit (CFI = 0.95; RMSEA = 0.05) and accounted for 44.4% of the variance in conflict management skills. These findings highlight the importance of developing emotional intelligence–based leadership integrated with adaptive leadership styles to enhance conflict management effectiveness. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study integrates the emotional intelligence model and situational leadership theory into a single conceptual framework, empirically tested within the Indonesian educational context, particularly in Muhammadiyah schools.
