Abstract

Self-awareness is an individual's ability to recognize their emotions, values, and thought patterns, as well as to understand factors that influence their actions and social interactions. Generation Z, growing up in the digital and information era, faces unique challenges due to their low awareness of mental health, leading to increased cases of anxiety, depression, and burnout resulting from social and academic pressures. Consequently, they are often trapped in self-unawareness and identity crises caused by contradictions between personal values and social expectations. This article aims to determine the extent of the use of problem-solving techniques in group guidance services over the past two years, evaluating their efficiency or inefficiency to assess whether deconstruction is needed. The method used in this article is qualitative research through a literature review. The literature review process involves: (1) gathering data from various sources, (2) processing relevant references, (3) presenting research findings, (4) abstraction, (5) interpreting results, and (6) drawing conclusions. The data sources are derived from reputable books and journals relevant to the study's topic. The findings indicate that using problem-solving techniques in group guidance services has been relatively effective and efficient in improving Generation Z's self-awareness. In conclusion, deconstructing self-awareness through problem-solving techniques in group guidance facilitates better self-awareness and unlocks the optimal potential for Generation Z's personal and social lives.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling with a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach using behavioral activation techniques in improving learning motivation of Junior High School (SMP) students. The research design used was a pretest–posttest one group design with seven eighth grade students who had low learning motivation scores as participants. The intervention was carried out in four group counseling sessions that focused on behavioral activation, such as arranging meaningful activities, scheduling learning, and recording and self-reflection. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the average learning motivation score from 75.4 to 114.8 with a significance value of p = 0.005, which means that the change was statistically significant. These findings indicate that behavioral activation techniques in CBT group counseling are effective in encouraging changes in student learning behavior from passive to productive. This study provides an empirical contribution to the practice of school guidance and counseling services, as well as enriching evidence-based intervention approaches in improving learning motivation of junior high school students.

Abstract

Facts in the field show that the empathy skills that prospective counselors have in understanding their counseling, especially in the aspect of empathy have not been comprehensively internalized. This research has three specific objectives (1) to develop a case method learning model guide based on serat wedharaga  values to increase the empathy of prospective counselors; (2) the developed model is theoretically tested through the validation of material experts, media, and potential users; (3) The model is empirically tested that  the case method learning model  is based on the value of serat wedharagas to increase the empathy of prospective counselors. The implementation of this research uses the development method with ADDIE design. The results of the development are in the form of a learning guide that includes sixteen meetings, containing materials, media, and evaluation tools. The developed learning model proved to be theoretically feasible and practically effective, demonstrated through a paired t-test with a value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, indicating a significant improvement between pretest and posttest. Thus, serat wedharaga value-based learning  is effective in increasing the empathy of prospective counselors. Suggestions for the next researcher to conduct follow-up studies related to the development of other learning models to strengthen the professional character of prospective counselors.

Abstract

The problem of intolerance is one of the three big sins that are rampant in the world of education. Guidance and counseling are one of the efforts in improving tolerance attitudes in students. The objectives in this study are 1) to identify a group guidance model with role-playing techniques; 2) to identify elements of tepa selira values as an effort to increase tolerance among students as an individual; 3) to construct a group guidance model with role-playing techniques based on tepa selira values to increase tolerance in high school students. The research method employs a systematic literature review, which involves several stages, including collecting literature and discussing the results. So that the results obtained in this study are 1) the production of group guidance models with role-playing techniques; 2) Analysis of the elements of virtue values in tepa selira local wisdom; and 3) the formation of group guidance model construction with role-playing techniques based on tepa selira values to increase student tolerance. It can be concluded that there are role-playing techniques that can be integrated with local wisdom, one of which is the value of tepa selira as a group guidance model to improve students' tolerance.

Abstract

Counselor Students, while seen as key providers of counseling and guidance services in educational settings, frequently face challenges stemming from insufficient self-care practices. The absence of these practices often leads to psychological difficulties that compromise their ability to fully embody the characteristics of effective counselors. This situation raises concerns about counselor students’ readiness to assume professional responsibilities and maintain long-term effectiveness in their roles. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the impact of self-awareness, self-efficacy, and social support on the self-care of prospective counselor students, and to develop a comprehensive theoretical framework tailored specifically to their needs. This study employed an Ex Post Facto Causal Relationship Explanatory design. A sample of 277 students (38 males and 239 females) was selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using four validated and reliable instruments—the Self-Efficacy Scale, the Self-Awareness Scale, Sarafino's Social Support Scale, and the Mindful Self-Care Scale. Data were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships between the variables. The obtained results showed that significant relationships existed between self-awareness, self-efficacy, and social support with self-care. This research underscored the significance of harmonizing the pre-service Guidance and Counseling education curriculum with the sole purpose of cultivating self-care practices among students through synchronized learning.

Abstract

Learning responsibility is essential for academic success among senior high school students, yet many struggle with self-regulation due to technological distractions and low motivation. Self-monitoring-based behavior modification offers a promising intervention to address this issue. This systematic review evaluates the effectiveness of self-monitoring interventions in enhancing learning responsibility among senior high school students. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across six databases (ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, Scopus, Garuda, and ResearchGate) for peer-reviewed articles published between 2015-2025. Studies examining self-monitoring interventions targeting learning responsibility or related constructs in senior high school settings were included. Thematic synthesis was employed to analyze findings. From 312 initially identified records, 47 studies met the inclusion criteria. Findings consistently demonstrate that self-monitoring techniques—including self-recording, checklists, and digital tracking significantly improve students' discipline, time management, and academic engagement. Grounded in Social Cognitive Theory, these interventions enhance self-efficacy and self-regulation. Effective implementation requires structured teacher guidance and supportive learning environments, while challenges include limited parental involvement and technological barriers. Self-monitoring is an effective strategy for fostering responsibility for learning in senior high school students. Future research should employ longitudinal designs to assess sustained impacts across diverse educational contexts. Keywords: behavior modification, self-monitoring, student responsibility

Abstract

Mental health has become a growing global concern, reflected in the increasing prevalence of psychological disorders worldwide. Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) has gained recognition as an effective intervention to promote psychological well-being. This article investigates the efficacy of CMT, its underlying psychological paradigms, and the limitations of its implementation through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA flow diagram. A total of 96 documents were initially retrieved from the Scopus database, with 12 articles selected following rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria related to publication year, document type, language, access, population, and context. Findings indicate that CMT significantly enhances self-compassion, reduces stress, anxiety, and burnout, and improves emotional and social functioning. CMT is primarily grounded in a psychological within-paradigm, which emphasizes the integration of internal and external emotion regulation processes. However, several limitations persist, including the absence of a standardized curriculum and difficulties in implementation across diverse cultural and institutional settings. Challenges include fragmented program design and the lack of integration strategies within educational and professional frameworks. The study recommends further research to support cultural adaptation and the development of flexible, evidence-based training models to improve contextual applicability and long-term effectiveness.
