Abstract

Religious education plays a critical role in shaping both personal faith and interreligious harmony among students. This study investigates the levels of religiosity and religious tolerance among students attending Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and general junior secondary schools (SMP) in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive-quantitative research design, data were collected from 400 students—200 from MTs and 200 from SMP in West Java—using two validated questionnaires measuring religiosity and religious tolerance, each comprising 24 items. The findings reveal no significant difference in religiosity between MTs and SMP students, with the majority in both groups scoring high in religiosity (71% and 69%, respectively). However, a significant difference was observed in religious tolerance, with SMP students demonstrating higher tolerance levels (60.5%) compared to MTs students, who mostly showed lower tolerance (67.5%) (t = 7.649, p < .01). Additionally, while no significant correlation was found between religiosity and religious tolerance among MTs students (r = .055, p > .05), a moderate positive correlation was found among SMP students (r = .589, p < .01). These findings suggest that school type influences the development of religious attitudes, with general schools being more effective in fostering both religiosity and tolerance. The study underscores the need for further investigation into the pedagogical approaches used in SMP that successfully promote religious tolerance. It also calls for the development of religious education models in MTs that integrate tolerance-building strategies without compromising religious commitment.

Abstract

This article analyzes the interaction between teachers and students through the story of Prophet Moses and Khidr in QS. Al-Kahf verses 60–82. Using a qualitative approach and literature study method, it draws insights from the interpretations of Jalalain and Ibn Kathir to highlight the educational values of wisdom and patience. The study organizes its findings into three areas: character development (patience, refraining from quick judgment, recognizing limitations), pedagogical approaches (dialogue, application of wisdom, experiential learning), and the creation of an inclusive learning environment. The examination of key events such as the perforated boat, the killing of the young man, and the repair of the wall demonstrates the importance of patience in facing situations that seem illogical. These lessons offer practical implications for Islamic Religious Education (PAI), supporting teachers in making mature decisions and guiding students towards emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth. Integrating these values into education fosters a reflective, supportive, and thoughtful learning atmosphere, enriching both the intellect and character in accordance with Islamic teachings

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of instructional media, including visual, audio, and This article discusses the concept of thinking and dhikr contained in Q.S. Al-Imran verses 190-191, and its implications for students' spiritual intelligence. This verse emphasizes the importance of contemplating the creation of the heavens and the earth as a sign of Allah's greatness, as well as combining the activity of rational thinking with dhikr or remembrance of Allah. In the context of education, this combination is relevant to developing students' spiritual intelligence, which is the ability to understand the meaning of life, maintain a relationship with the Creator, and have wisdom in dealing with life. Through a thematic tafsir approach (tafsir maudhu'i), this article outlines how an understanding of the concepts of thinking and dhikr can strengthen students' spiritual awareness. The practical implications of this research suggest that teaching these verses in schools can help students achieve a balance between intellect and spirituality, so that they are able to think critically while having a deep sense of faith.

Abstract

Facts show memorizing the Qur’an is difficult, especially considering contemporary man’s busyness. The memorizers of the Qur’an admit that they have difficulty finding time to repeat (murâja’ah) the memorizations they have consistently. This study tries to reveal the contribution of the T.E.S. method, a method of memorizing the Qur’an discovered by Ustadz Jemmi Gumilar ST., in improving the memorization of the Qur’an. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, this study shows that the T.E.S. method has positively contributed to improving the quality and quantity of memorization of the Qur’an of the tahfîzh participants. Many beneficiaries and recognition of the training participants for the effectiveness of the T.E.S. method prove this. Theoretically, the success of the T.E.S. method lies in time management and discipline or consistency in reading the Qur’an, memorizing, and repeating memorization.

Abstract

The current digital era raises global issues on personal data protection, with many personal data leaks and weak legal frameworks. This research aims to explore the application of Islamic law to personal data protection by identifying challenges and opportunities. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research to find out how Islamic values can be integrated in the legal framework of personal data protection. By collecting data through literature review and interviews, this study shows that the principles of Islamic law (maqasid al- sharia), emphasizing individual and public good provide a strong ethical and legal basis for the protection of personal data. However, integration with modern legal systems faces challenges, including low public awareness and technological gaps. Islamic legal principles such as hifzh al-'irdh and sadd dzari'ah have the potential to improve data protection policies, ensure fairness, and prevent harm in the digital age. The application of these principles offers a unique approach to creating a safer and more ethical digital culture. Islamic law provides an important contribution to the development of adaptive, ethical and comprehensive data protection policies, by encouraging collaboration between governments, communities and individuals.

Abstract

Compassion plays a crucial role in human life, particularly in education, where it helps shape positive character traits in children and enhances their altruistic behavior. This study aims to analyze Karen Armstrong's perspective on compassion as a core competency for educators in Islamic education. A qualitative research method with a descriptive-analytical approach was employed. The data sources include the primary source, Karen Armstrong's book Compassion: 12 Steps to a More Compassionate Life, and secondary sources such as relevant documents, scholarly articles, and other data. The research procedure was carried out in three steps: reviewing relevant references, collecting necessary references, and analyzing them according to the research objectives. The findings reveal that compassion, according to Armstrong, is the ability to place oneself in another person's position, to feel their suffering as if it were one's own, and to voluntarily engage in alleviating that suffering. In the context of Islamic education, compassion is a competency that every educator should possess. Educators who embody and implement compassion in their teaching activities can create a positive educational environment and foster constructive communication, thereby supporting the optimal development of children's character.

Abstract

Abstract

Academic pressure, future uncertainty, and social challenges often trigger prolonged stress among students. This study examines the role of spiritual coping, grounded in Islamic educational values, in managing both academic and personal stress. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected from twelve students selected through purposive sampling. These students were experiencing stress but actively practiced spiritual coping strategies, such as prayer, reflection on Islamic teachings, and participation in religious communities. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that spiritual practices such as the remembrance of God, Quranic recitation, patience, gratitude, and sincerity contribute significantly to emotional stability and stress reduction. These coping mechanisms enhance inner peace and resilience, while involvement in campus religious environments fosters a sense of spiritual and social belonging. The study concludes that spiritual coping in the context of Islamic education is not merely an emotional response but a transformative strategy that reinforces psychological resilience. The findings suggest practical implications for student support services, curriculum development, and the role of educators in nurturing students’ emotional and spiritual well-being.

Abstract

Abstract

Students from an Islamic education perspective are individuals who are growing and developing, both physically, mentally, socially and spiritually in navigating life in this world. Islamic education seeks to instill faith values that not only lead to mastery of knowledge, but also to the formation of noble morals and the practice of religion in everyday life. However, many students are not yet fully able to apply religious values in their lives, especially in facing various challenges in an increasingly complex and digitally connected world. Therefore, students are expected not only to master knowledge academically, but also to be able to practice this knowledge with a strong moral foundation and faith values. This research aims to analyze the content of the holy verses of the Koran related to the application of educational values that can improve students' morals, as well as indicators that must be considered in the learning process according to Islamic teachings. This research uses a literature study method (library research) to examine students' concepts from the perspective of the Al-Qur'an, especially the interpretation of Surah Al-Mujadilah verse 11. The results of this research are expected to provide a comprehensive picture of how students are positioned in Islamic education, as well as providing an in-depth view of their roles and responsibilities in the educational process according to the perspective of the Koran and tarbawi interpretation. This research will also explore ways that can increase the practice of religious values among students, to create a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also superior in character and morality
