Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Zero Defect concept in the management of School Operational Assistance Funds (BOS) on improving the quality of madrasah facilities and infrastructure. This research is motivated by the continued discovery of various administrative and technical problems in the management of BOS Funds that affect the optimization of educational facilities. The research approach used is a qualitative case study design. The research location was determined purposively in a madrasah within the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School environment. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving madrasah managers, pesantren caretakers, students, alumni, and guardians as informants. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Zero Defect concept increases the accuracy and discipline of managers in the planning, implementation, and reporting of BOS Funds, improves administrative order, and increases the readiness of madrasahs to face audits and monitoring. In addition, more targeted management of BOS Funds has a positive impact on the gradual improvement of the quality of madrasah facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school leaders’ digital ethos and its impact on the quality of Islamic education administrative services in the context of digital transformation. The research was conducted at MTs Al-Amiriyah as a representative case of a madrasa developing digital-based administrative services amid limited technological infrastructure. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document studies involving the head of the madrasa, administrative staff, teachers, and service users. The data were thematically analyzed using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the findings. The results indicate that the digital ethos of school leaders is a more decisive factor in improving the quality of administrative services than the mere availability of technological infrastructure. Leaders with a strong digital ethos are able to transform work culture, optimize the use of limited technology, and shift the role of administrative staff from procedural tasks to user-oriented services. Furthermore, the integration of digital ethos with Islamic leadership values such as trustworthiness (amanah), honesty, justice, deliberation (musyawarah), and sincerity produces a value-based digital transformation model that strengthens ethics, accountability, and user satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate a customer satisfaction management model that integrates a data-driven continuous improvement approach in the school environment. Using a qualitative design with a case study at Darussalam Elementary School in Blokagung, Banyuwangi, this study involved key informants such as the Principal, Vice Principal for Curriculum, teachers, and parents who were selected purposively. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, which were then systematically analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results show that the implementation of a real-time student data dashboard has shifted the school's management culture from intuition-based to evidence-based management. Teachers have transformed into active data collectors and analysts, while parents have become strategic partners in providing feedback through digital channels for decision-making. This research contribution confirms that successful customer satisfaction management depends not only on digital technology but also on the capacity of social actors to build a collaborative, transparent, and adaptive educational ecosystem through a continuous improvement cycle. Practically, this model provides guidance for educational institutions to systematically increase accountability and responsiveness to external and internal customer needs

Abstract

Previous studies have rarely examined a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework that holistically measures Islamic education quality while accommodating both modern accountability requirements and the spiritual authenticity of pesantren. This study aims to develop and analyze an adaptive pesantren value-based Balanced Scorecard model that integrates local religious values into a measurable performance management system for sustainable quality improvement. The study employed a qualitative case study design conducted at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with leaders, managers, and teachers, participant observation of institutional practices, and analysis of strategic documents and performance reports. The data were analyzed through an interactive process of data reduction, display, and verification to generate an empirically grounded model. The findings reveal that the BSC integration transformed evaluation practices from reliance on the kyai’s intuition to a systematic, data-driven mechanism characterized by standardized indicators, periodic reporting, and evidence-based decision-making. Internal processes became more professional through the establishment of a Multimedia Team responsible for measurable digital documentation and outreach. At the same time, traditional learning activities such as ngaji kitab kuning and adab education were not replaced but strengthened through structured monitoring. These dynamics produced a hybrid quality model that combines religious authenticity with managerial accountability. The novelty of this study lies in the operationalization of pesantren values into concrete Key Performance Indicators across the four BSC perspectives, moving beyond purely conceptual approaches to spirituality. The study contributes theoretically by extending performance management literature within faith-based education and practically by offering a replicable framework for religious institutions seeking sustainable and measurable quality improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate and test an Islamic hybrid model to achieve sustainable development, through an in-depth analysis of the value integration mechanism, prerequisite conditions for the effectiveness of model implementation, and the determination of success indicators that measure the independence of governance and the economic sustainability of Islamic boarding schools. This model is formulated through four main components: Islamic financial governance, strengthening economic institutions, a digital accountability system, and integrative leadership, with success indicators including Islamic compliance, financial independence, institutional sustainability, and increased public trust. The study used a single qualitative case study at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews with kiai (Islamic scholars), administrators, students, and stakeholders, participant observation, and institutional document analysis. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods, as well as prolonged engagement. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of structured tawarruq is able to maintain sharia compliance while increasing the liquidity of Islamic boarding schools, and the Waqf-Holding scheme plays a role in creating long-term financial stability. The use of digital traceability strengthens transparency and donor trust, while the Kyai-Preneur leadership pattern has proven effective in synergizing spiritual authority with managerial competence. The contribution of this study lies in the novelty of the Hybrid Islamic Model as an integrative conceptual framework for tarbiyah-good governance that is applicable in realizing the independence and sustainability of Islamic boarding schools in the modern era.

Abstract

Qualitative Path Analysis Of The Correlation Between Teacher Job Embeddedness And Holistic Student Learning Outcomes At Religious Madrasah This study aims to analyze the correlation and path of influence of teachers' Job Embeddedness on the quality of students' holistic learning outcomes in madrasas with religious values. A qualitative case study at Darussalam Tulungagung Integrated Junior High School collected data through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed interactively referring to the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models through three stages: data condensation with thematic coding, presentation of data in the form of qualitative path diagrams, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal a unique configuration of Job Embeddedness that is transformed into religious values: Fit becomes spiritual harmony, Links becomes an Islamic ukhuwah network, and Sacrifice as a moral responsibility. Religious values act as a critical mediator that transforms work attachment from mere psychological retention to spiritual-collective commitment. Implicitly, such teacher attachment significantly shapes the holistic learning quality of students, including the formation of character and spiritual values, in addition to contributing to cognitive aspects.

Abstract

ANALYSIS OF THE QUALITY OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION THROUGH THE LENS OF THE TRANSCENDENCE THEORY OF VIKTOR FRANKL: SEARCHING FOR THE MEANING OF QUALITY BEYOND ACCREDITATION STANDARDSThe quality of Islamic education has tended to be understood narrowly through administrative indicators and formal accreditation achievements, while the dimensions of meaning, values, and transcendental goals of education have not been a primary concern. The dominance of the managerial-technocratic paradigm has resulted in quality assessments being more oriented towards documents, standards, and academic achievements, resulting in a lack of systematic measurement of meaningful learning experiences and the internalization of students' spiritual values. This study aims to analyze the quality of Islamic education through the perspective of Viktor Frankl's transcendence theory, emphasizing the meaning of life, moral responsibility, and spiritual awareness as the core of educational quality. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method at SMK Darussalam Blokagung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The results indicate a gap between administrative quality and substantive quality of education. Although the school has met formal accreditation standards, learning is still oriented towards academic and administrative targets, with minimal integration of transcendental values into learning practices. This study finds that Viktor Frankl's theory of transcendence has strategic potential for reconstructing a more holistic concept of Islamic education quality, by integrating formal standards and meaningful learning experiences. Thus, the quality of Islamic education is measured not only by compliance with accreditation standards but also by the success of education in shaping spiritually and morally meaningful individuals.

Abstract

A PHILOSOPHICAL HERMENEUTIC APPROACH TO UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF THE RELIGIOUS TEACHER PROFESSION IN THE DYNAMICS OF GLOBAL QUALITY DEMANDSThis research is based on the reality of the changing meaning of the profession of religious teachers amidst the increasingly complex dynamics of global demands for quality education. The purpose of this research is to deeply understand the meaning of the profession of religious teachers using a philosophical hermeneutic approach, particularly in responding to the tension between the demands of global quality that are technocratic in nature and transcendental religious values. This research uses a qualitative interpretative method with the research location at MTs Darul Ulum Tirta Kencana Unit 6. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies with religious teachers, madrasah principals, deputy heads of curriculum, and students as supporting informants. Data analysis was carried out hermeneutically by following the principle of the hermeneutic circle, namely a continuous dialogue between empirical data, subjective experiences of informants, and the surrounding socio-historical context, accompanied by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the meaning of the profession of religious teachers has shifted from a normative role to a reflective-contextual role, influenced by the historical experiences of teachers and the social context of the madrasah. Furthermore, the professionalism of religious teachers is understood holistically as an integration of pedagogical competence and morality. This research confirms that global quality demands can provide a reflective space to enrich the meaning of the religious teaching profession in a humanistic, contextual way, and oriented toward developing student character without losing its spiritual values.

Abstract

GREEN EDUCATION-BASED QUALITY: INTEGRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION PRINCIPLES IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION QUALITY STANDARDS This study aims to analyze the implementation of Green Education in improving the quality of Islamic education and examine the integration of religio-ecological values, such as amanah (trust), khalifah fil-ardh (vicegerent), and hifzh al-bi'ah (property), into educational quality standards. The study was conducted at Darussalam High School, which has a strong commitment to implementing a structured environmentally friendly program. A qualitative case study approach was used, with informants selected purposively, including the principal, teachers, environmental program coordinator, students, and school support staff. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive data analysis model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results indicate that the consistent implementation of a Green Education-based curriculum is able to foster an environmentally friendly school culture, increase student discipline, awareness, and responsibility, and strengthen the integration of religious values into environmental conservation practices. In the long term, Green Education shapes the ecological character of students with Islamic morals and a commitment to environmental sustainability. This research provides theoretical and practical contributions to the development of sustainability-based Islamic education quality standards.

Abstract

THE GREAT RESIGNATION PHENOMENON IN THE ISLAMIC EDUCATION SECTOR: ITS IMPACT ON THE QUALITY OF TEACHERS AND QUALITY-BASED TALENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES This study examines the phenomenon of the great resignation in the Islamic education sector as a structural problem that affects the quality of educators and the sustainability of institutional quality. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors driving educator resignations, their impact on the stability and quality of learning, and to emphasize the urgency of implementing quality-based talent management strategies in Islamic educational institutions. The study adopts a qualitative approach using a case study design conducted at MTs Darul Jannah Muara Burnai 2. Data collection techniques include semi-structured in-depth interviews with the principal, permanent teachers, honorary teachers, former teacher and administrative staff, complemented by non-participant observation and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of data reduction, categorization, data display, and interpretative conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that educator resignations are triggered by structural weaknesses in human resource management, such as imbalances between workload and welfare, the absence of clear career pathways, and weak systems of reward and professional development. These conditions lead to declining staff stability and educator quality, weakening motivation and organizational commitment, and hindering the development of a quality culture. This study underscores the importance of transforming human resource management toward quality-based talent management that emphasizes welfare, organizational justice, and the long-term professional sustainability of educators.
