Abstract

COVID-19 has emerged as the global challenge confronting the community. The Indonesian government and Muhammadiyah have been engaged in efforts to mitigate the ongoing transmission of COVID-19. Diverse strategies have been employed to combat this disease and prevent its spread and fatalities. This study aims to examine and explain Muhammadiyah’s preventive efforts in Indonesia to combat COVID-19, drawing upon an interpretation of hadiths from the Prophet. A qualitative method was employed to address this issue with a historical, sociological approach to investigate the social conditions during the time of the Prophet and their prevention in relation to contemporary times performed by Muhammadiyah. The study revealed that Muhammadiyah has addressed community and humanitarian issues by implementing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One such effort was restricting worship activities in mosques and encouraging people to perform them at home until the situation returned to normal. However, in areas deemed safe from COVID-19, worship could still be conducted in mosques while adhering to health protocols such as maintaining social distance, wearing masks, and practicing proper hand hygiene. Furthermore, learning in large group settings has been limited, leading to a shift toward remote online learning from home. Engaging in outdoor muamalah activities, such as working, meetings, religious studies, shopping, and other activities that attract and result in big gatherings, has also been restricted. These efforts aim to disrupt the transmission of COVID-19 as a manifestation of societal care, guided by the teachings of the Prophet as recorded in the hadiths.

Abstract

Epistemology in Islam and its relation to the content and process of Muslim education is the subject of study in this article. Perceptions related to Islamic revivalism that spread in several regions of the world demand an integrated education system based on Islam. Spiritual education provides religious and academic currents with various implications for forming mental health. This article examines the reorientation of spiritual education thought in Islam. This study is interesting to do considering the thought of spiritual education from the point of view of the Al-Quran and Sunnah does not appear as a disconnected educational thought but a living and dynamic thought construction. This study is a literature study with a qualitative approach, while the theory used was the theory of Islamic education initiated by educational thinkers. Hence, spiritual education’s ultimate goal is identical to creating servants in realizing servitude, giving rise to mental health as a parameter of happiness in life.

Abstract

The demand for clean water in Pekalongan City is rising due to population growth, urbanization, and industrial and hotel development. The scarcity of surface water and contamination of water sources are prompting residents to turn to groundwater. However, excessive groundwater use for domestic and industrial needs could potentially lead to problems like tidal waves and floods. Despite these risks, groundwater remains a crucial source of clean water for many. This study assesses community awareness and perceptions regarding the use and conservation of groundwater. The research, conducted from July to August 2023, involved a survey, comprehensive interviews, and field observations with 200 participants. A quantitative descriptive analysis and the Chi-Square test were applied to the data. Findings reveal that while most people recognize the adverse environmental impacts of groundwater exploitation and the necessity for its conservation, insufficient government outreach has led to poor conservation practices. The study also found a positive community perception towards groundwater use and its conservation. Although only a few respondents had low awareness, their attitudes could potentially affect overall community consciousness. A significant correlation between knowledge and public perception of groundwater use and its preservation was identified, suggesting that better understanding could bolster conservation efforts. Nonetheless, enhancements in various programs, particularly those related to groundwater conservation techniques like rainwater harvesting and public water utility (PDAM) initiatives, are essential.. Keywords: Groundwater, knowledge, perception, conservation, flood

Abstract

Maintaining scientific traditions is part of civilization that must be maintained for generations. The relationship between religion and science is very close. Interestingly, Ahmad Baiquni was able to integrate and interconnect religion (Islam) with science. The purpose of this study is to critically analyze Ahmad Baiquni's views on the integration-interconnection of religion with science. The research method used is library research. The results showed that the integration and interaction of religion with science known as Islamic science is by linking the verses of the Qur'an to science and technology, especially science with the pattern of Islamization of science, the pattern of justification and sacralization. Ahmad Baiquni certainly views the relationship between religion and science as an Islamization that must always be massive. This is viewed as the thought of Islamization of knowledge that he synthesized is the Islamization of knowledge into two variants, namely the justification variant and the sacralization variant. Although the above-mentioned integrations have been completed, the facts on the ground are still needed and in reality, there are only a few who apply interconnections in various aspects. The interconnections of religion and science are part of the complex of educational problem solvers of yesterday, today, and the future.

Abstract

Landuse changes without soil and water conservation-based, especially in the upstream watershed, can drive erosion and degraded land. It affects watershed management. Flood, sedimentation, and discharge fluctuation downstream of Ciujung Watershed are the effect of the degraded land upstream. It affects biophysical carrying capacity. The carrying capacity of the watershed becomes the basis for consideration in the watershed management plan. The purpose of this research is to study the biophysical carrying capacity of the upstream Ciujung Sub-basin. Biophysical aspects of watershed include percentage of degraded land, percentage of vegetation, erosion index, runoff regime coefficient, annual runoff coefficient, sedimentation, flood events, and water use index. It was scored based on Indonesia Forestry Minister Regulation No. P.61/Menhut-II/2014. The result showed that degraded land percentage, erosion index, yearly runoff coefficient, sedimentation, and flood event were severe, vegetation belongs to the very bad category, and water use index were in a medium stage. The carrying capacity in Ciujung Hulu Watershed was in poor condition with a score total of 140,5.

Abstract

The development of organic rice has long been echoed in Indonesia as a sustainable agriculture system to produce healthy food and be environmentally friendly. The lower productivity of organic rice compared to conventional rice, less competitive marketing of organic rice, and limited availability of organic fertilizers in the field are the main reasons for the low adoption and development of organic rice by farmers, such as in the upland organic rice development area in Cipatujah, Tasikmalaya Regency. Socialization of organic rice cultivation techniques through organic fertilizer field schools and organic rice technical culture demonstration plots are efforts to increase farmers' adoption of organic rice. The field school is focused on making good quality organic fertilizer formulations in solid and liquid forms. In contrast, the organic rice cultivation demonstration plot aims to determine the dose of organic fertilizer to support optimal growth and productivity of organic rice plants. The solid organic fertilizer formulation produces good quality organic fertilizer with a pH of 8,54-8,71, C-organic content of 27,87-28,63%, C/N ratio of 18,96 – 21,60, and macronutrient contents (N+P2O5+K2O) of 4,67 – 5,13%. Liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) formulations have not produced excellent quality LOF, primarily related to the low pH (pH <4) and low macronutrient contents (N+P2O5+K2O) of 0,49-2,16%. The growth of organic rice plants with a dose of 3 tons/ha (organic rice I) and 6 tons/ha (organic rice II) is slower than conventional rice (chemical fertilizer). At the same time, plant growth of organic rice III (dose 9 tons/ha) was better than conventional rice in terms of number of tillers and plant height.
