Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate an educational management model based on visionary school leadership to enhance teacher performance in public vocational high schools in Langkat Regency. Employing a Research and Development approach with a modified Borg & Gall framework, the research progressed through preliminary assessment, model design, product development, and three sequential trial phases across eight schools. Data were collected using validated performance questionnaires and leadership perception scales, analyzed through paired sample t-tests. Results demonstrated significant improvements in teacher performance, with mean scores rising from 72.8 to 86.2 in the wide-scale trial (p < 0.001). Teachers’ perceptions of principals also shifted markedly toward visionary, participatory, and inspirational leadership. The finalized model integrates reflective supervision, principal-led coaching, collaborative teacher forums, and strategic vision reinforcement. These findings confirm that embedding visionary leadership into structured management practices effectively transforms administrative routines into sustainable professional development pathways. The model offers a contextual, empirically validated framework for regional education policymakers and school administrators seeking to improve teacher quality and institutional effectiveness in vocational education. The findings imply that educational management should institutionalize visionary leadership, reflective supervision, collaborative coaching, and continuous performance evaluation to strengthen teacher effectiveness and school improvement.

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of education, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of Society 5.0, has reshaped how schools are led, yet research on electronic leadership remains fragmented between technocentric accounts of platform adoption and human-centered accounts that foreground psychological and contextual conditions, with no synthesis reading the two through an educational-psychology lens. This study aims to reconstruct how e-leadership operates in school management within the Society 5.0 era and to specify the psychological mechanisms that determine its effectiveness. Adopting a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, the study searched the Scopus database for peer-reviewed work published between 2020 and 2025 and analyzed six included studies through thematic and framework synthesis. The findings reveal three conceptualizations of e-leadership, namely technology-facilitated, hybrid, and transformative leadership, and four psychological components that underpin its effectiveness, namely self-efficacy, motivation and engagement, social influence, and adaptability. The analysis further shows that e-leadership influences outcomes indirectly, mediated by work engagement and moderated by infrastructure, culture, crisis, professional development, and organizational climate, and it integrates these patterns into a three-layer conceptual framework centered on human well-being. The principal implication for educational management is specific: leadership development and technology policy must target the cultivation of efficacy, engagement, and resilience and align digital strategy with each institution's particular configuration, rather than treating tools and training as sufficient in themselves.

Abstract

Pesantren, as Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, play a crucial role in teaching the Qur'an through tahfizh (Qur’anic memorization) programs. However, a key challenge lies in promoting these programs to the wider public, particularly in the digital era. This community engagement project aimed to provide digital marketing training through a workshop, focusing on the use of Instagram to promote tahfizh programs. The workshop was attended by pesantren administrators and covered essential topics such as digital marketing fundamentals, creative content creation, and the use of Instagram features—including photos, videos, and Instagram Stories—to attract public attention. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of Instagram as a promotional tool, with 85% reporting increased confidence in using the platform. Additionally, participants successfully created engaging and effective promotional content, leading to higher viewership and audience engagement. A short-term impact observed was the rise in registration for tahfizh programs at several pesantren. Nevertheless, ongoing monitoring and evaluation are needed to ensure the sustainability of these outcomes. Overall, the workshop made a positive contribution by enhancing the digital literacy of pesantren administrators and enabling them to leverage digital technology to promote their tahfizh programs.

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of Islamic education has accelerated the adoption of blended learning, yet its predominantly technical implementation often neglects the ethical and developmental well-being of young learners. Unregulated screen exposure and algorithm-driven content frequently induce cognitive overload, moral disorientation, and diminished social interaction in primary educational settings. Addressing this gap, this study employs qualitative library research grounded in thematic tafsir (tafsir maudhu’i) to systematically extract Qur’anic principles that inform a balanced pedagogical architecture. By analyzing classical and contemporary exegetical sources alongside empirical studies published between 2020 and 2026, the research operationalizes the Islamic concepts of wasathiyyah (moderation) and maqashid al-shariah as evaluative filters for digital instruction. The findings reveal that Qur’anic discourse establishes clear operational parameters for proportional screen-time allocation, ethically curated content delivery, multidimensional assessment, and structured home-school collaboration. These parameters are synthesized into a scalable wasathiyyah-based blended learning model that dynamically aligns technological integration with the preservation of children’s intellect, psychological health, and religious identity. The proposed framework provides educators and curriculum designers with a theologically coherent, contextually adaptive blueprint for hybrid instruction. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that classical Islamic exegesis can effectively guide contemporary educational technology, ensuring that digital transformation serves holistic child development rather than compromising foundational moral and cognitive growth.

Abstract

The research set out to determine the status of the filing system at SMPN 23 Palembang, as well as the variables that helped and hindered its introduction. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with the superintendent providing the study's key piece of information and principals and teachers providing additional context. Methods of gathering information such as conducting interviews and keeping detailed records. Methods for analyzing data include summarization, validation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this research demonstrate that SMPN 23 Palembang's file system implementation is pretty excellent in numerous respects. This is especially true in terms of Direction, which is carried out to ensure that the filing system implementation proceeds in accordance with all relevant rules and regulations. The principal provides encouragement to the office staff and instructors to get them excited about using the new file system. There is a strong correlation between the effectiveness of the file system in disseminating information and the quality of communication between the principal, administrative personnel, and teachers. Coordination, in the sense of making sure that the principals, administrators, and teachers all work together to roll out the new file system. Use of a suitable archive storage system and efficient archival communication are two of the pillars upon which the archiving system rests. The lack of skilled workers and inadequate physical space for archives are major impediments.

Abstract

Charismatic leadership has been a significant focus of research in the educational leadership literature, especially in the context of school principals. This article presents a systematic analysis of the concept of charismatic leadership, its implications, and its impact on the school environment. Through qualitative methods using literature analysis, we identify traits, impacts, and strategies of charismatic leadership. The findings show that charismatic principals have a strong vision, practical communication skills, high self-confidence, empathy, and personal influence that positively influence the attitudes and behaviours of staff and students. The impact includes increased motivation, academic performance, and a positive school culture, with strategies such as developing a solid vision, building trust, empowering staff, participation in decision-making, and being a role model. These findings provide an in-depth understanding of the role of charismatic leadership in improving the quality of education and creating supportive learning environments. Practical implications include the development of leadership training programs and a better understanding for education policymakers of the importance of charismatic characteristics in school leadership. This research fills a gap in the literature by highlighting the critical role of charismatic leadership in educational contexts, particularly in developing countries, as well as emphasizing the need for more research involving the perspectives of teachers and school staff.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and challenges of curriculum implementation in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Indonesia, as well as provide strategic recommendations for improvement. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design is used to identify factors that affect the success of curriculum implementation. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with madrasah heads and teachers, participatory observations, and analysis of related documents such as syllabi and evaluation reports. The findings show that limited teacher training, lack of learning facilities, and dominance of traditional approaches are the main obstacles to achieving curriculum goals. The results of the analysis highlight the importance of applying project-based learning methods (PBL) and character education to improve 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. However, the implementation of this method still faces technical and pedagogical obstacles. This research also found the need to strengthen teacher competence through continuous training and the provision of relevant educational resources. In conclusion, the implementation of the curriculum in MI requires synergy between education policies, teacher training, and infrastructure support. The recommendations of this research include improving training programs, procuring technology-based facilities, and collaborating with the government, madrasas, and the community. This research contributes to supporting the development of Islamic education that is more adaptive to the challenges of the globalization era.
