Abstract

This research aims to determine whether learning with the peer tutor model effectively improves student learning outcomes in social studies at Adabiah Padang Junior High School. This research uses a quantitative design. The research subjects were grade VIII students at Adabiah Padang Junior High School, which had 80 students. Data were collected using direct observation methods, observation sheets, and in the form of test questions. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive analysis, and the average score and the percentage completeness of student learning outcomes were calculated. Based on the research results, the value of learning outcomes and student completeness has increased. The post-test results in the three classes show an increase in the average of the three classes and the number of students or the percentage of complete students. Only a few students did not reach the minimum completeness after implementing the peer tutor learning model. Peer tutoring on student learning outcomes is practical enough for social studies learning.

Abstract

21st-century learning emphasizes the development of collaboration and communication skills, especially in Civic Education (PPKn). This study examines the impact of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model on enhancing these skills among Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 8 Sungai Penuh. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental, posttest-only control group design was employed. A total of 64 students were selected through purposive sampling and divided evenly into an experimental group (NHT model) and a control group (conventional discussion). Collaboration skills were assessed using observation sheets, while communication skills were evaluated through a structured group presentation rubric. Independent sample t-tests were used for data analysis. The experimental group demonstrated significantly higher collaboration (82.3%) compared to the control group (76.59%). The t-test results confirmed a statistically significant difference in collaboration skills (t = 2.352, p = 0.022). Similarly, communication skills in the experimental group were significantly improved (t = 2.597, p = 0.001), indicating the effectiveness of the NHT model in fostering interpersonal competencies. These findings support constructivist and social learning theories, which emphasize active participation and peer interaction. The NHT model facilitates a collaborative learning environment that promotes student engagement and improves communication fluency and group cooperation. The NHT model is effective in improving students' collaboration and communication skills in PPKn learning. Its integration into classroom practice is recommended to support the development of essential 21st-century skills in secondary education.

Abstract

The background of this study is about monotonous history learning conducted by history teachers teaching at SMA N 1 Ulakan Tapakis. The study aims to examine the reasons behind history teachers at SMA N 1 Ulakan Tapakis continuing to teach using the old model and seemingly ignoring the 21st-century student-centered learning model. The research approach used is qualitative research. There are three stages in the research, namely: (1) Pre-field stage, (2) Fieldwork stage, (3) Data analysis stage. The results of the research can be concluded that monotonous learning is caused by several reasons that are actually not too serious. The monotonous learning that occurs at SMA N 1 Ulakan Tapakis can be changed in the right direction if teachers are more enthusiastic in applying 21st-century learning models and if students are more emphasized with their learning responsibilities.

Abstract

This research aims to develop e-modules of Pancasila Education based on Project- Based Learning (PjBL) with the help of AI-Powered Interactive Content to support the strengthening of the character of high school students. The development process follows the ADDIE model which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted through teacher interviews, student questionnaires, as well as curriculum and literature studies to identify the need for relevant teaching materials, student characteristics, and materials that support character value learning. The product was developed in the form of a flipbook-based interactive digital e-module that contains materials, collaborative project activities, QR-code learning videos, and character reflection elements. Validation was conducted by material, media, and language experts, with the results showing a very high level of validity in the aspects of content, language, and visual design. The practicality test involved three teachers and thirty students, resulting in an average score of 3.810 and 3.646 which indicated that the e-module was classified as very practical to use. The effectiveness test through pretest and posttest in the experimental class showed a significant increase in learning outcomes (p < .001), with Cohen's d of 3.393. In addition to cognitive improvement, character values such as caring, responsibility, and cooperation were also strengthened based on teacher assessment and student self-assessment. Based on these findings, the e-module is declared valid, practical, and effective as an alternative learning media that is contextual and relevant to the needs of the digital generation

Abstract

Low student engagement and suboptimal academic achievement remain persistent challenges in secondary education. In response, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Practice Rehearsal Pairs (PRP) method in simultaneously enhancing student engagement and academic performance in a physics learning context. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, the study involved 72 tenth-grade students from State Senior High School 5 Tanjung Balai, divided equally into experimental and control classes. Data on student engagement were collected through structured observation using a five-category engagement rubric, while academic achievement was assessed through pretest and posttest scores. The analysis employed descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, normalized gain (N-Gain), and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) to determine both separate and simultaneous effects of the intervention. Findings revealed that the PRP method significantly improved student engagement, with the experimental group shifting from predominantly "very less active" to 94.45% categorized as "active" or "very active." Academic performance also increased markedly, with a mean posttest gain of 17.92 points and an N-Gain score of 0.5463, categorized as medium and quite effective. MANOVA results indicated a statistically significant simultaneous effect on both engagement and achievement (Wilks’ Lambda = 0.057, p < 0.001). These results suggest that PRP is an effective pedagogical strategy for fostering meaningful participation and cognitive gains in science education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning in the Pancasila education subject at “Sekolah Penggerak” (driving schools), analyze the challenges, and identify the efforts made to optimize its implementation using the indicators of content, process, product, and learning environment differentiation, focusing on students’ learning styles. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The Informants in this study consisted of 30 individuals selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results show that the implementation of learning differentiation based on learning styles at SMAN 9 Padang and SMAN 10 Padang has been carried out, although not yet fully optimal due to shortcomings in planning and execution. In planning through teaching modules, teachers only created general guidelines. For content differentiation, teachers have provided audio-visual materials such as illustrated narrative texts, videos, and PowerPoint presentations. Teachers have applied various teaching methods, but the student worksheets (LKPD) remain uniform. Regarding product differentiation, teachers have not created varied outputs. In terms of learning environment, the arrangement of desks and chairs is sometimes inconsistent with learning activities, affecting student focus.  Pancasila Education teachers at the two “Sekolah Penggerak” have made various efforts to address these challenges. In content, teachers apply classroom differentiation strategies, use movement-themed ice breakers, and attend digital training.
