Abstract

Under age marriage is not a new case in Indonesia. This practice has been performed by many people either in villages or big cities for a long time. Its causes are diverse from economic factors, poor education, to superficial understanding of cultural and religious values. In addition to causing social, psychological and health problems, under age marriage brings about legal problems. For example, Syekh Puji and Ulfa’s marriage opens controversy areas between traditional, Islamic, national and international laws because each has different juridical perspectives. This fact causes at least two legal problems: first, harmony between one law and another; second, challenges for marital legislation in term of under age marriage. This writing is aimed to show the urgency of marital law review to answer legislative challenges toward Islamic law harmony with globalization era today.

Abstract

Since the reformation era, the curriculum of Islamic Education in public universities has gone through such three modifications as Islamic education curriculum of 2000, 2002, and 2013. The objective of this research is to analyze the construction of the three kinds of the curriculum as well as the changing of the paradigm related to them comparatively. The paradigm of Islamic education curriculum 2000 was the continuity of the curriculum in the New Order era which was purely oriented to normative Islamic concepts (aqidah, syari’at, akhlak). In the opposite, Curriculum 2002 indicated many changes in its paradigm and material. Religion was not only a set of norms, but it also existed in reality and it was dynamic in responding the development of human being. Meanwhile, curriculum 2013 tried to emphasize the scientific learning approach by activating the students in building their knowledge. In other words, the learning activity is activity base-oriented, not content base-oriented.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper is aimed to revisit the existence terminology of Bid’ah Hasanah (Good Innovation) in the public and academic sphere as a counter discourse against the dominance of established meaning of Bid’ah which in terms of Islamic Sharia is interpreted as an act of misguidance (Bid’ah Dalalah). Counter discourse is a way of thinking that opposes an institutionalized discourse. In this context, we try to investigate the emergence of this term and describe how it is expressed as an opposing thought against the negative meaning of Bid'ah which was discursively long-established in the public and academic sphere by conducting the grounded approach. The data collected is taken from a mini survey and some specific discourses related to this topic such as the discussions in some chapters of the Islamic teaching textbook, and discourses from the online sources including social media and some websites affiliated with certain religious groups. The result shows that the terminology of Bid’ah Hasanah is emerged and echoed by traditional religious groups to label the non-exclusive worships (Ghairu Mahdhah) that originally don’t require any special rules in its implementation. According to them, this term is retrieved and interpreted from several Hadiths and the words of the Prophet’s companions. In the public and academic sphere, this term is still being roughly debated by some religious groups, mainly the Salafis and the traditionals, due to their differences in the methodology of meaning to this term. The Salafis prioritize the textual rigorous Sharia meaning contained in this term, whereas traditional parties put forward the literal and original meaning in understanding this term.

Abstract

This paper discusses about the political thought in tafsir al qadir written by al-Shawkany.It is written in the paper that in the locus of political life of the state, there is aphenomenon that muslims fell the awkwardness in solving some fundamental problems, such as how to find the right relationship between Islam and politics, how toposition of Islamic law in the context of a modern democratic state, and how Islamiclaw should be understood and practiced. The awkwardness was later implicated in thebirth of various types of political experimentation. Islamic tradition of thought inpolitical philosophy did not develop because of political thought are taught in two differentdisciplines, namely discipline of Jurisprudence and discipline of philosophy. Ironically,in the tradition of Islamic scholarship that dominates is the discipline of jurisprudence, therefore we can not get out of the paradigm of political theology (politicaltheology).

Abstract

An abbreviation is a new form of the word that combines two or more words representing the original word. In Arabic discourse, this is not new but still not familiar among Arabic learners. The primary purpose of this research is to find, understand, and analyze the phenomenon of abbreviation in Arabic in forms and processes contained in the al-Uula rubric in the online media of the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper in March 2020. This research is library research which uses a qualitative approach with documentation techniques on data collection and data analysis techniques developed by Miles and Huberman. Based on the research 31 data were obtained for Arabic abbreviations. The results showed four types of abbreviation processes; mukhtaṣar with 10 data, al-naḥt with 1 data, and ikhtizaal with 20 data. The Abbreviation in Arabic Fusha, in particular, requires a lot of further studies to become a reference and insight that are easily accessible to Arabic readers and learners.

Abstract

Radicalism is part of an ideology that can grow and develop anywhere, including in colleges or universities. The study aimed to depict the phenomenon of radicalism among students by analyzing how radical influences could infiltrate students from the Islamic education lecturers' perspective. This study also examined lecturers' efforts to prevent radicalization in the campus environment. The data were collected through in-depth interviews conducted over three months. Results showed that although the campus continued to be reported by many studies as the "origin of radicalism," the situation depicted the phenomenon of radicalization at an alarming level. The Islamic education lecturers continued to confront deradicalization on campus through revitalizing religious and nationality insights. Lecturers of Islamic religious education internalize the values of religious moderation to realize Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin and seek to restructure campus mosques so that they are not infiltrated by preachers with radical views.

Abstract

The competence of reading the holy book correctly and adequately is the obligation of every religious person. Ironically, many Muslim students do not have adequate skills in reading the Qur'an. Therefore, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) launched a campaign to be free of Qur'an illiteracy for its students. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, evaluation, and effectiveness of Qur'an learning at UM and the correlation of Arabic language skills to the ability to read the al-Qur'an. The method used is a mixed-method with an exploratory sequential design. The quantitative data analysis technique used normality test, Wilcoxon signed ranks, d-effect size, and calculation of N-gain value. The results of the study are as follows: (1) learning planning is carried out in a centralized and detailed manner; (2) the implementation of learning adapts to class groupings, and learning steps specified in the Qur'an Reading Guidance curriculum; (3) evaluation of learning is carried out using tashih techniques, post-test, and assessment of learning attitudes; (4) learning effectiveness is in the high category, which is indicated by the d-effect size value of 0.76, and (5) Arabic language ability is found to have a significant correlation with the ability to read the Qur'an. In general, UM is considered successful in reducing the level of Qur'an illiteracy among students.
