Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) plays a crucial role in character development, including discipline. This research aims to explore how the application of rewards can improve discipline in children aged 5-6 years at TKQ Nurul Shobah , Tangerang. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through (1) direct observation of children's behavior during daily routine learning activities, (2) interviews with classroom teachers and the school principal to gain insights into reward strategies and their impact on children's character, and (3) documentation for supporting evidence. Data analysis was performed descriptively and qualitatively through steps including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion formation. The provision of rewards in shaping disciplined character in early childhood, particularly for Group B, involved various strategies, including the use of rewards. Teachers awarded stars to children who arrived early and provided praise to those who listened to instructions. The results indicate that the consistent use of verbal rewards (praise) and non-verbal rewards (stickers, smiles) positively affects children's disciplined behavior, such as arriving on time, following instructions, and tidying up toys. The use of praise as a reward motivates children, making them enthusiastic and feel valued.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and determine the level of Strongyloides sp. infection in buffalo (Bos javanicus javanicus) fecal samples in Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK). The research method was conducted by examining fecal samples using native, sedimentation, and flotation methods and calculating the number of eggs per gram of feces (egg per gram, EPG) to determine the level of infection. The results showed positive Strongyloides sp. infection, indicated by the discovery of oval-shaped eggs with thin walls measuring approximately 54×41 µm. The EPG calculation yielded a value of 1600, which is categorized as a moderate infection. This level of infection indicates that the parasite's life cycle is active in the host's body and has the potential to cause mild to moderate physiological disturbances. Additionally, environmental conditions can increase the risk of reinfection, especially in wildlife habitats with high humidity levels. These findings emphasize the importance of continuous monitoring, environmental management, and parasite control measures, particularly in conservation areas such as Ujung Kulon National Park.

Abstract

Bay leaf extract (Syzygiun polianthum) is one herbal elemnt that may be used to lessen liver function issues, lessen symptops of nausea, vomiting, discomfort and improve adherence and the effectiveness of tuberculossi treatment. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) extract on antioxidant activity, Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, and liver histopathology of ethambutol-induced Wistar rats. This research is a laboratory experiment. Antioxidant activity of Bay Leaf Extract was evaluated by comparing vitamin C with spectrophotometry methods. White Wistar rats were separated into 6 groups and uset to test the lebel of MDA and livers histopathology. Group 1 serves as the control group and received DMSO (placebo); Group 2 was received ethambutol 50mg/kg BW; Group 3 was received ethambutol and silymarine with dose 50mh/kg BW. Group 4-6 had been given ethambutol and extra ethanol extract of bay leaves of 75,150, dan 300mg/kg BW, respectively. The results of the spectrophotometry showed that the Bay Leaf Extract had antioxidant activity comparable to that of vitamin C, with an IC50 of 11.4 g ± (4.4%). One-Way ANOVA test results obtained p = 0.002 (p<0.05) while the Kruskal-Wallis test results obtained the Asymp. Sig value 0.105> 0.05. There was a significance difference in each group’s MDA levels (p=0.002). Although there was no significant difference in the liver histopathology of treated rats (p>0.05). While bay leaf extract significantly lowers MDA levels in ethambutol-induced Wistar rats, it has no discernible impact on the liver histopathology of ethambutol-induced Wistar rats. Bay leaf extract possesses antioxidant activity comparable to vitamin C.
