Abstract

Hanif et al, 2019. Population of Pest Insects and Predatory Arthropods Inhabiting Freshwater Swamp Rice of South Sumatra Treated with Bioinsectide of Beauveria bassiana and a Synthetic Insecticide. JLSO (8)1:31-38.Entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana, could  kill various species of insect pests, but  their impact on predatory arthropods needs to be studied. The aim of this study was to compare population of pest insects and predatory arthropods inhabiting rice sprayed with bioinsecticide of B. bassiana and conventional rice field using a synthetic insecticides. Bioinsecticide was made from conidia of B. bassiana and sprayed on rice canopy. The plot of conventional farmers was sprayed with synthetic insecticides made from Abamektrin. The results showed that the application of bioinsecticide of B. bassiana was not proven to reduce the pest insect population. The abundance of natural enemies of pest insects, such as  spiders and predatory insects was also more abundant in plots sprayed with  bioinsecticide than conventional plots that used synthetic insecticide. The synthetic insecticides have been shown to reduce the abundance of predatory insects and spiders. Bioinsecticides containing carrier of  liquid compost were proven to increase the growth and development of rice, which was an increase in the number of rice tillers per clump in plots applied by bioinsecticide. Thus, B. bassiana of bioinsecticide with liquid compost carrier material was safer and could maintain the abundance of predatory arthropods and increased rice growth.

Abstract

The pests that attack each plant phase also varies. The aimed of this study was to compare the main population of rice insect pests and ratooned in lowland rice field in the vegetative, flowering and milk ripening phase. The main bioinsecticide rice sprayed on rice canopy were comes from the entomopathogenic fungal conidia Metarhizium anisopliae, the entomopathogenic bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis, and as a control area without the application of bioinsecticide or synthetic insecticide. The results showed that population of fake white pests (Cnaphalocrosis medinalis) and white leafhoppers pest (Covana spectra) were more prevalent in vegetative phase rice compared to other types of pests such as green leafhoppers (Nephotettix spp.), Brown leafhoppers (Nilaparvata lugens), zig zag leafhoppers. (Recillia dorsalis), white-back leafhoppers (Sogatella furcifera), grasshoppers, mole cricket (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa), and yellow rice stem borer (Scirpophaga incertulas). The Leptocorisa acuta and green ladybugs (Nezara viridula) began to attack the flowering and milk ripening phase, which was when the rice was aged about 54-68 days after transplanting (dat). Whereas in ratooned rice, the pest population of L. acuta has appeared on the first observation on rice aged 9 days after harvest (dah) until the ratooned rice was aged 58 days after harvesting. The population of pests was higher in land without bioinsecticide application compared to land applied of bioinsecticides. In ratooned rice, the pest population between the land applied with bioinsecticide M. anisopliae and B. thuringiensis was not significantly different from the land applied by B. thuringiensis which was sold in the market.

Abstract

Conservation education in primary schools is seen as an important strategy for developing ecological understanding and environmental awareness through contextual, applied, and experience-based learning. The purpose of this study was to determine teachers' perceptions of conservation, teachers' perceptions of conservation education, and teachers' perceptions of conservation content based on local wisdom. The research method used mixed methods with a sequential exploratory mixed method type. This study consisted of 92 primary school teachers from various schools in Banten Province. The data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The techniques used were descriptive quantitative analysis and thematic qualitative analysis. The results of this study revealed that teachers' perceptions of conservation showed a very high awareness of environmental conservation, teachers' perceptions of conservation education had been integrated into learning, but had not been implemented consistently, and teachers' perceptions of local-based conservation content were still limited and uneven. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that primary school teachers have a high awareness of environmental conservation, but the implementation of local-based conservation education in the classroom is still inconsistent and requires strengthening of competencies and support for contextual teaching materials.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and network-based learning environments has fundamentally transformed how knowledge is produced, distributed, and learned. This transformation exposes limitations in classical learning theories that were developed in relatively stable and linear educational contexts. Connectivism emerges as a theoretical response to these changes, emphasizing learning as a process of forming and maintaining connections within distributed knowledge networks. However, connectivism continues to face conceptual and practical criticism, particularly regarding its epistemological status and pedagogical applicability in formal education. This study aims to reconstruct connectivism theory within the landscape of 21st-century education by critically examining its challenges, identifying its pedagogical opportunities, and articulating its implications for contemporary teaching and learning practices. Using a critical literature review method, this article analyzes key national and international studies related to connectivism, digital pedagogy, and educational transformation. The findings indicate that connectivism remains highly relevant when reconceptualized as an integrative pedagogical framework that balances technological connectivity with cognitive, social, and ethical dimensions of learning. This reconstruction positions connectivism as a viable foundation for adaptive, reflective, and sustainable education in the digital era.

Abstract

Writing is a complex and essential skill in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning that requires not only linguistic accuracy but also cognitive engagement, interaction, and reflection. This study aims to examine the relationship between constructivist writing instructional practices implemented through Authentic Project-Based Learning (A-PBL) and students? writing performance outcomes. Employing a quantitative quasi-experimental one-group pre-test?post-test design, the study involved 35 first-semester undergraduate students enrolled in a Writing course at Universitas Islam Syekh Yusuf. Data were collected through writing performance tests assessing contextual, interactive, and reflective writing, as well as a questionnaire measuring students? engagement in constructivist practices, including brainstorming, collaborative writing, peer feedback, real-world writing tasks, and instructional scaffolding. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple regression analysis, and Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA). The findings reveal a statistically significant multivariate relationship between constructivist learning practices and writing performance outcomes, with interactive and reflective writing emerging as the most strongly influenced dimensions. Although contextual writing did not show a direct significant effect, it functioned as a foundational component supporting higher-level writing engagement. The study concludes that constructivist-oriented writing instruction, particularly through A-PBL, effectively promotes interactive and reflective writing development and provides a theoretically grounded approach for enhancing EFL writing performance in higher education contexts.

Abstract

This research discusses the conception of the philosophy of idealism and its implementation in the context of learning in elementary schools. The philosophy of idealism includes the view that world reality is formed by ideas and thoughts, placing emphasis on spiritual values and abstract concepts. The main aim of this research is to understand how the philosophical conception of idealism is reflected in learning strategies and methods in the elementary school environment. The research method used is literature study and content analysis to explore the concept of idealism in elementary school learning. The research results show that the idealistic conception is reflected in a learning approach that emphasizes the development of moral values, creativity, and understanding abstract concepts. Teachers in elementary schools are expected to be facilitators in encouraging students' critical and reflective thinking and guiding them towards a deeper understanding of life values. Apart from that, this research also highlights the challenges and opportunities in applying the concept of idealism in learning in elementary schools. This challenge involves integrating abstract concepts into a curriculum that sometimes focuses on purely cognitive aspects. However, the opportunities involve the potential to create learning environments that support students' spiritual and moral development. This research contributes to further understanding of the implementation of the philosophical conception of idealism in the context of basic education, with the hope of providing useful guidance for the development of more holistic and value-oriented learning strategies..
