Abstract

Abstract

This proposal examines the impact of domestic investment and other factors such as open unemployment rates and school enrollment rates on multidimensional poverty in the Southern Sumatra (Sumbagsel) region. Furthermore, this study integrates an Islamic economic perspective in poverty alleviation, emphasizing the role of zakat, infaq, and waqf as effective instruments of social and economic empowerment. The quantitative approach uses panel data and statistical analysis to measure the influence of independent variables on multidimensional poverty levels, and discusses the theoretical and practical benefits of this research for the development of sustainable and inclusive economic policies. Thus, the results of this study are expected to provide strategic recommendations in order to reduce poverty structurally and multidimensionally, and support equitable and competitive economic development in Indonesia, especially in the Sumbagsel region.

Abstract

The integration of Islamic finance into Indonesia's national economic strategy is seen as a key driver of sustainable economic growth. However, the Islamic banking sector, despite its potential, continues to face structural and market-related limitations. This study investigates the contribution of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) to Indonesia’s economic growth following the merger of three state-owned Islamic banks Bank Syariah Mandiri, BRI Syariah, and BNI Syariah by focusing on the post-merger opportunities and challenges. The research aims to answer two central questions: (1) What opportunities does BSI hold for contributing to economic development in Indonesia? and (2) What are the major internal and external challenges it must overcome to achieve these goals? Using a qualitative research design, the study gathers primary data through interviews with key informants from BSI branch offices in Aceh, Manado, and West Java, and analyzes secondary data from BSI’s official financial documentation. The results indicate that BSI has consolidated a robust capital base of over Rp239.56 trillion and improved its capacity for financial intermediation, making it a strategic institution aligned with the endogenous growth theory. Nonetheless, BSI’s potential is constrained by issues including underdeveloped governance integration, technological lags, limited regulatory autonomy, and low financial literacy. These findings suggest that while BSI holds strong prospects for supporting inclusive national development, realizing its full potential requires overcoming institutional, technological, and educational gaps. Strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing literacy programs, and harmonizing regulatory policies are essential to maximize BSI’s contribution to Islamic financial and economic advancement in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the combined effect of steel fibers and silica fume on the workability, compressive strength, and flexural strength of concrete. Steel fiber content was fixed at 2% by weight of cement, while silica fume was incorporated at varying replacement levels of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% of cement weight. Workability was assessed using the slump test, while compressive and flexural strengths were measured at 28 days in accordance with Indonesian National Standards (SNI). The results indicate that silica fume content up to 15% has no significant adverse effect on workability, with all mixtures achieving slump values within the range of 8"“12 cm, classified as good workability. The highest compressive strength was recorded for the 10% silica fume variation at 36.27 MPa, representing a 50.2% increase compared to the control. Flexural strength also peaked at 10% silica fume with a value of 3.97 MPa, corresponding to a 5.2% increase. The improvement in mechanical properties is attributed to the synergistic effect of silica fume"™s pozzolanic reaction and matrix densification combined with the crack-bridging capacity of steel fibers. However, silica fume content above the optimum level resulted in a reduction of mechanical performance, likely due to increased viscosity and microcracking from autogenous shrinkage. The study concludes that a combination of 2% steel fibers and 10% silica fume provides the most balanced enhancement of mechanical performance without compromising workability.

Abstract

The state budget deficit is a condition where expenditures exceed revenues. In Indonesia, there has been a deficit almost every year. If this condition continues, the main risks are an increase in national debt and economic instability, which will have an impact on the welfare of the people. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the state budget deficit. The variables studied are Government Securities, Tax Revenue, and Interest Rates. The data used is time series data from 2007 to 2024. The approach applied is the Error Correction Model (ECM), which aims to examine long-term and short-term effects. According to this study, government securities do not have a significant short-term effect but have a considerable positive long-term impact. The long-term and short-term effects of the tax revenue variable are significantly negative. Meanwhile, the interest rate variable has no significant effect on either time period. The government is expected to utilize this research as a guide in formulating policies. This research helps academics expand their knowledge and serves as a source of literacy and information for the general public.
