Abstract

The growth of coffee consumption in Indonesia in 2025 is projected to reach an average of 7% per year with total coffee consumption reaching 450,000 tons/year. The shift in coffee consumption patterns of generation Z from tubruk coffee to various coffee brewing variants such as cold brew, filter coffee, and iced coffee is an obstacle for KTH Tani Jaya in marketing coffee products at the Kepuh Tourism Location. Based on direct observations in the field, there are problems, namely: The Forest Farmers Group "Tani Jaya" has not mastered the techniques and variations of coffee brewing. The solution offered is coffee brewing technology to overcome the problem of the coffee brew served being predominantly bitter. The Community Service method that will be used is socialization, training, and mentoring in the application of coffee brewing technology. To measure the impact of the technology transfer provided, a descriptive analysis is used based on measuring the level of knowledge, understanding and skills regarding coffee brewing. The results of the training and mentoring that have been implemented have resulted in an increase in the level of knowledge, understanding and skills of coffee brewing by 39.4%, 48.5% and 50%, respectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the policing of demonstrations in Indonesia and South Korea reflects the relationship between human security and civil liberties in the context of post-authoritarian democracy. Using a qualitative approach with a Most Similar Systems Design (MSSD), this study combines thematic analysis and narrative comparison of legal documents, human rights institution reports, and national and international media sources. The results show that although both countries have electoral democratic systems, fundamental differences arise in how the state interprets and implements public security. In Indonesia, the policing of demonstrations tends to perpetuate the authoritarian legacy through coercive legalism and digital surveillance, which suppresses public participation. In contrast, South Korea maintains a relative balance between control and the protection of citizens' rights. These findings expand our understanding of how technology, law, and political culture interact in shaping security practices in democratic countries. Theoretically, this research confirms the importance of the human security paradigm in evaluating democratic governance. Practically, the results encourage institutional reform and transparency in the use of surveillance technology, aligning with human rights principles.

Abstract

Several studies have discussed the bilateral economic impact of the Abraham Accords, but few of them have thoroughly examined how this agreement has evolved into a collective security framework amid global geopolitical changes. This study attempts to fill the existing research gap by analyzing the transformation of the Abraham Accords into the Abraham Alliance using the Balance of Power theory framework developed by Stephan M. Walt. Using a qualitative approach and case study mode, this study examines secondary data from 2020 to 2025, using academic journals, government policy documents, and reliable news media as sources. This study concludes that the alliance is more influenced by the need to balance the perceived threat from Iran, rather than solely based on economic interests. Since the conflict between Palestine and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, the countries that signed the agreement have continued to prioritize strategic security and maintain relations with Israel. The possibility of Saudi Arabia and Syria joining the alliance indicates a new direction toward more pragmatic and security-focused regional security. With this research, it is hoped that theoretically, by developing this framework, the Abraham Alliance can be understood as a new category in analyzing the region.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the human security threats experienced by Indonesian migrant children in Malaysia, as well as to examine how Muhammadiyah plays a role in building their resilience through community education. The limited access of migrant children to formal education, health services, and legal protection is a significant issue being studied. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research relies on literature studies and document analysis from international agency reports, Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral policies, and documentation of Muhammadiyah's education programs in Sabah and Sarawak. Data analysis was conducted using thematic techniques to identify vulnerability and adaptive capacity patterns at three levels: individual, community, and institutional. The results show that despite facing structural vulnerability due to their undocumented status, migrant children can develop adaptive strategies through social networks, community solidarity, and alternative schools. Muhammadiyah plays a significant role in providing community-based education that not only builds academic capacity but also strengthens the social and spiritual identity of migrant children. These findings contribute to developing the concept of resilience-based human security, broadening theoretical understanding while offering a practical model for protecting migrant children. The study recommends the need for multi-stakeholder collaboration and the strengthening of ASEAN regional policies to make the protection of migrant children more inclusive and sustainable. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of parenting on the achievement motivation of athletes. The research method in this study is ex post facto. The sample in this study was as many as 73 athletes who are members of the East Java Regional Training Center. The instrument used was developed based on theoretical references regarding parenting patterns which consist of three types of parenting, namely authoritarian, authoritative and permissive with the results of factor analysis for each dimension of parenting parenting resulting in KMO-MSA values> 0.05 with a significance value of Bartlett's Test of Sphericity < 0.05. Each item in each dimension has a loading factor value > 0.5 so that each item is valid in measuring each dimension. While the achievement motivation instrument was also developed based on theoretical references with the results of factor analysis resulting in a KMO-MSA value> 0.05 with a significance value of Bartlett's Test of Sphericity <0.05. Test analysis using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Based on these calculations and criteria, the results (Sig.) 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that there is an influence of parenting style on athletes' achievement motivation. Judging from the mean value of authoritarian parenting is 10.37, authoritative parenting is 19.89, permissive parenting is 9.89. This means that authoritative parenting has the highest influence on athletes' achievement motivation. Then followed by authoritarian parenting in the second place and permissive parenting in the third or the last

Abstract

During President Trump's first term, he declared a US-China trade war, which formed numerous opportunities for developing countries. It also urges multinational corporations to relocate their manufacturing factories outside of the US-China region to prevent further increasing tariff. This study used "the dependency theory" to understand that Indonesia is the biggest economy in ASEAN, despite Nigeria and South Africa as the largest economies in Africa.  As Sierra Leone's geographical position connects South America, Africa, and Asia by Sea, but they did not have any significant advantages during the trade war, in comparison to Vietnam. Therefore, this study compares and analyzes two forms of policy competition, Incentives-Based (IBC) and Rules-Based (RBC), to solve the issue of how these Global South nations should benefit from the Trump tariff war. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, it examines the opportunities for the tariff wars ahead between developed countries, which may lead to another great recession. As the results, this study shows that policies do not accommodate to investors as those in Vietnam, whose population is smaller than Indonesia's. Obviously, Nigeria is serving as an alternative for investment, increasing its GDP and creating a favorable public perception of free trade.

Abstract

Philippines-Malaysia diplomatic relations are multifaceted, balancing cooperation and contention across security, economic collaboration, and migration management. This research fills a critical gap by linking high-level Philippines—Malaysia diplomacy with the practical realities of deportation and reintegration, bridging migration policy and human rights concerns. This study analyzes key policies on Filipino deportee management and their impact on Philippines-Malaysia diplomatic relations using Neoliberal Institutionalism and the Human Security Framework, and it aims to determine how both nations handle diplomatic and operational aspects of deportation management. This research employs a descriptive mixed-methods design, combining qualitative survey essays and quantitative data from primary sources to evaluate Malaysia-Philippines diplomatic relations and assess policies and guidelines for managing the deployment of Filipino deportees. The study reveals that while the Philippines and Malaysia benefit from diplomatic cooperation through ASEAN, there is no direct bilateral agreement specifically addressing deportation management. Malaysia’s deportation system is technologically advanced, but deportees face significant challenges, such as poor detention conditions and limited reintegration support from the Philippines. The findings, analyzed through Neoliberal Institutionalism and the Human Security Framework, highlight a disconnect between state cooperation and the human needs of deportees, with gaps in legal, social, and psychological support during the deportation and reintegration process. Strengthening bilateral agreements on deportation, ensuring comprehensive consular support, and improving reintegration programs are essential to protect Filipino deportees. Integrating human security into diplomatic and operational practices will help both the Philippines and Malaysia establish a more humane, coordinated, and rights-based approach to managing deportation and reintegration challenges effectively.

Abstract

This study examines inter-state tension between Indonesia and Malaysia on the issue of Ambalat between 2005-2009 using quantitative analysis. The analysis offers these critical and crucial lenses to reduce empirical and conceptual blind spots in international relations discourse. The issue is pivotal since the Ambalat disputes had yielded tensions between the two nations. Furthermore, the military’s involvement and provocations of mass media were arguably excessive. Previous literature merely focuses on the foreign policy tension and neglects the correlated and critical domestic factors. The purpose of this research is expected to possess a different conceptual perspective on the issue of Ambalat, which is often framed from a security perspective. The mainstream rationale captures Ambalat as an internal political maneuver deployed by President Yudhoyono while antagonizing Indonesia’s relations with the neighbor. The analysis offers these critical and crucial lenses to reduce empirical and conceptual blind spots in international relations discourse. The results showed that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) used this issue to advance specific political interests by redirecting the public’s attention from mounting petroleum costs and the president’s declining image. This also occurs against the backdrop of the presidential election of 2009 to maneuver Ambalat. However, the maneuver for the domestic audience affected Indonesia-Malaysia’s relations and the rising tension.

Abstract

Purpose – This study addresses the persistent challenge of developing Arabic speaking proficiency (maharah kalām) among junior secondary students, who often lack confidence and fluency due to limited authentic practice. The purpose was to empirically evaluate the effectiveness of realia-based instruction as a practical pedagogical intervention to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world communication, arguing that tangible, context-rich materials significantly enhance oral skills. Design/methods/approach – A quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design with pre-test and post-test measures was implemented. The study involved 55 seventh-grade students at an Indonesian state Islamic junior high school, with an experimental group (n=31) receiving realia-based instruction and a control group (n=24) receiving conventional instruction over a three-week period. Student speaking performance was quantitatively assessed using a standardized oral rubric before and after the intervention. Findings – The findings revealed a statistically significant and substantial improvement in the experimental group's speaking performance. The post-test mean score for the experimental group (M=50.32, SD=14.05) was significantly higher than that of the control group (M=29.17, SD=4.44). An independent samples t-test confirmed this advantage (t(53)=7.09,p<.001), indicating a large effect size (Hedges’ g=1.90), providing strong evidence that realia-based instruction is more effective than conventional methods. Research implications – The primary implication is pedagogical: integrating realia offers a practical, low-cost strategy for language teachers to create authentic communicative contexts, thereby enhancing student oral proficiency. However, the findings' generalizability is constrained by the study's single-site setting, non-randomized allocation of participants, and the short duration of the intervention. These limitations highlight the need for future research, such as multi-site randomized controlled trials, to validate these results across diverse contexts and assess long-term retention.
