Abstract

Agriculture sector becomes important sector in many developing countries including in Nigeria. The contribution of agricultural sector to the development of Nigeria is considerable. This important sector was the economic backbone upon which the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria relied for its foreign exchange and revenue. A country was once a net exporter of agricultural products. However, since the discovery of oil in the early 1960, agricultural productivity has continually decreased due to many problems, especially related to financial aspect. Several programmes and policies have been adopted by various administrations to find solution to the dwindling agricultural productivity but to no avail. These solutions have mainly focused on alleviating the financial problems the farmers face. Usually financial intermediaries including banks would provide micro-financing to the farmers but with high interest rates coupled with collateral requirements. Hence, this mode of financing has not produced any significant result. This study will therefore examine problems facing agricultural sector in Nigeria with special emphasis on its financial aspect and propose a Waqf-MuzaraahSupply Chain model (WMSCM). Under this model, Waqf fund will be used for providing financial facility of the farmers. The relationship between farmers and financial institutions is based on partnership where profit and loss will be shared by both parties. This will enhance commitment by and cooperation among both parties to ensure the success of the business. Furthermore, the issues of collateral and high interest rate that constrain the financial ability of the farmers and their agricultural output are inherently solved by the model. Moreover, the model has features of investment and risk diversification for both the financial institutions and the farmers that will lead to high agricultural productivity and employment generation in the economy.

Abstract

This paper presents a sub-genomic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) replication model which incorporates the rate of influx of HCV plus-strand RNA into Huh-7 cell and monitored its effects. The schematic diagram of HCV replication has been simplified. The model exhibits three equilibrium, namely: trivial equilibrium, healthy equilibrium and endemic equilibrium. Stability analysis of the model shows that the healthy equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable under certain condition. It is shown that increase in the rate of influx, increases the steady state level of total plus strand RNA, synthesized plus strand RNA, replicated plus strand RNA and NS5B in the system. Sensitivity and uncertainty analyses of the model (using the \textit{basic replication number} (${\mathcal R}_0$) as the response function) show that the top three PRCC-ranked parameters are the rate of influx, $k_0$ of HCV plus-strand RNA, the rate of production of translation complex ($T_c$) and the rate of degradation, $\mu_{p}^{cyt}$, of plus-strand RNA $R_{P}^{cyt}$. Furthermore, the distribution of $\mathcal{R}_0$ is between $[0.9999,\, 1.0008]$ with a mean of $\mathcal{R}_{0}=1.0003$.}}

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi harga jual terhadap ukuran tubuh kambing Kacang di Kecamatan Uluwoi, Kabupaten Kolaka Timur yang dilakukan secara Purposive Sampling dimana lokasi penelitian merupakan daerah populasi kambing terbanyak kedua di Kabupaten Kolaka Timur. Materi penelitian menggunakan 83 ekor kambing jantan dan betina dengan umur 1-2 tahun dengan parameter penelitian meliputi harga jual, lingkar dada, panjang badan dan tinggi pundak yang didapat melalui observasi, survei, wawancara serta pengukuran ternak secara langsung. Selanjutnya, data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 16 for windows. Hasil analisis menunjukkan korelasi positif dan searah antara harga jual serta ukuran statistik tubuh kambing Kacang dengan nilai koefisien lingkar dada 0.52 atau 52% (sedang), panjang badan 0.63 atau 63% (kuat) serta nilai koefisien korelasi tertinggi pada tinggi pundak sebesar 0.83 atau 83% (sangat kuat).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji persentase karkas dan giblet (gizzard, hati, jantung dan limpa) ayam kampung super yang diberi pakan dengan imbangan energi metabolisme dan protein berbeda. Penelitan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret sampai dengan April 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 48 ekor ayam kampung super dengan perlakuan terdiri atas P0 = Pakan yang mengandung 19% protein dan EM 2900 kkal,P1 = Pakan yang mengandung 20% protein dan EM 3000 kkal, P2 = Pakan yang mengandung 21% protein dan EM 3100 kkal, P3 = Pakan yang mengandung 22% protein dan EM 3200 kkal. Variabel penelitian adalah persentase karkas dan persentase giblet . Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan dengan imbangan energi dan protein yang berbeda pada ayam kampung super tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase karkas, gizzard, jantung, hati, dan limpa.

Abstract

Training on Making "Instant Kasoami". The problems formulated were (1) the community of cassava producers in Wakatobi did not yet have the knowledge and skills to make instant cassettes which were required, which were attractive, long-lasting, and preserving product nutrition. The purpose of this training is to develop local processed food products in the framework of supporting food security and tourism in Wakatobi. The objectives of the training are to: (1) Improve the knowledge and skills of the community of kasoami makers in making attractive instant kasoami, long shelf life, and maintaining product nutrition; (2) Making local cassava food processed products as a support for food security and tourism in Wakatobi. Training participants are women who daily make and / or sell kasoami. Total participants were 20 people, consisting of 10 people from Wangi-Wangi District and 10 people from South Wangi-Wangi District. The training is carried out with adult education methods that focus on direct practice of the activity material. Some characteristics of instant Soami training results are as follows: in the processing process, steamed in a pressure cooker; the size of instant soami is smaller than that of citizens of soami; Soami instant packed aluminum foil; Instant Soami can be stored for up to 10 days without changes in structure, texture, and taste. Using the vacuum method, instant soami can be produced which can be stored for more than a month.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the reproductive characteristics of local pig herds in South Konawe Regency. The location of the study is determined by pusposive sampling with the consideration that Landono Subdistrict is a pig farming center area. Research is carried out using survey methods or in-person interviews to breeders. The study population was selected by 3 villages based on the largest number of pig herd population with the number of respondents for each village as many as 20 respondents, so that the overall number of respondents amounted to 60 respondents with the determination of respondents of each selected village conducted by Simple Random Sampling. The results showed that the average local pig was adult at 6.16 months of age and mated at 8 months of age. The number of children once born (litter size) 9.16 Tails/births with an average age of cows separated from the mother at the age of 3 months.

Abstract

Leaching at atmospheric pressure is one of the leaching methods of concern because it has several advantages, namely that it can process low-level nickel ore, can operate at temperatures >100 ⁰C at atmospheric pressure, and can be used in saprolite and limonite ores. In this research, nickel extraction from nickel laterite ore was carried out using sulfuric acid solution (H2SO4) as a leaching agent. The variables that were varied in the leaching process were temperature (30, 60, and 90 ⁰C), sulfuric acid concentration (0.2, 0.5, and 0.8 molar) and leaching time (30, 60, and 90 minutes). In this study, a 3-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to see the significance of the variable effects and the order of the most influential variables. In addition, leaching kinetics was studied by shrinking core models to determine rate determining step. The results showed that the increase in temperature, sulfuric acid and leaching time produced a higher percentage of extracted nickel. Based on the 3-factor ANOVA, the order of the most influential variables was obtained, namely temperature, acid concentration and leaching time. The kinetics analysis showed that rate determining step of leaching ore nickel laterite with H2SO4 solution on atmospheric pressure is controlled by diffusion through solid layer product.Keywords: analysis of variance; leaching; saprolit; limonitA B S T R A KLeaching pada tekanan atmosfer adalah salah satu metode pelindian yang menjadi perhatian karena memiliki beberapa keuntungan yaitu dapat mengolah bijih nikel kadar rendah, dapat beroperasi pada temperatur >100 ⁰C pada tekanan atmosfer serta dapat digunakan pada bijih saprolit dan limonit. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan ekstraksi nikel dari bijih nikel laterit menggunakan larutan asam sulfat (H2SO4) sebagai agen pelindi. Variabel yang divariasikan dalam proses pelindian yaitu temperatur (30, 60, dan 90 ⁰C), konsentrasi asam sulfat (0,2; 0,5; dan 0,8 molar) dan waktu pelindian (30, 60, dan 90 menit). Dalam penelitian ini digunakan analysis of variance (ANOVA) 3 faktor untuk melihat signifikansi variabel dan urutan variabel yang paling berpengaruh. Selain itu, dilakukan studi kinetika pelindian menggunakan shrinking core model untuk mengetahui pengendali laju reaksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan variabel temperatur, konsentrasi asam sulfat dan waktu pelindian menyebabkan meningkatnya persen ekstraksi nikel. Berdasarkan hasil ANOVA 3 faktor diperoleh urutan variabel yang paling berpengaruh yaitu temperatur, konsentrasi asam dan waktu pelindian. Hasil analisis kinetika menunjukkan bahwa pengendali laju reaksi pelindian bijih nikel laterit menggunakan larutan H2SO4 pada tekanan atmosfer yaitu difusi melalui lapisan produk padat.Kata kunci: analysis of variance; pelindian; limonit; saprolit

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of giving different probiotics to the growth rate of several body parts of broiler chickens such as chest circumference, femur length, tibia length, and body length at 2-4 weeks of age with 100 MB 202 platinum strain using BP 11 commercial feed, probiotic supplements. Liquid organics, Lacto probiotics, and local probiotics (tape yeast). The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) then the data obtained were analyzed employing variance (ANOVA) and if there was a significant effect, it was continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of the analysis showed that the administration of tape yeast in broiler drinking water showed a significant effect (p<0.05) on the increase in chest circumference, femur length, and body length which was greater than liquid organic probiotics and lacto.

Abstract

Pangan yang berupa produk peternakan terutama daging dan telur merupakan komoditas pangan hewani yang sangat dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan kualitas konsumsi pangan di Kota Kendari. Komoditas unggas khususnya ayam kampung mempunyai prospek pasar yang sangat baik karena didukung oleh karakteristik produk unggas berupa daging dan telur yang disukai oleh masyarakat Kota Kendari. Komoditas ini merupakan pendorong utama penyediaan protein hewani nasional maupun Kota Kendari, sehingga prospek yang cukup baik ini harus dimanfaatkan peternak melalui pemanfaatan sumberdaya secara lebih optimal melalui model pemberdayaan.Pengaruh Covid-19 menyebabkan hilangnya pendapatan secara luas, kemampuan dan daya beli masyarakat menurun dan lebih sedikit konsumen yang mampu membeli produk bernilai tinggi, termasuk produk ayam kampung. Menyikapi terjadinya wabah virus Corona, terjadi pembatasan interaksi dan pergerakan masyarakat khususnya peternak dan konsumen ayam kampung, memberikan peluang sekaligus tantangan pentingnya bertransformasi memperkuat modernisasi peternakan ayam kampung secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan.Dalam rangka mempertahankan dan meningkatkan pendapatan peternak ayam kampung di Kelurahan Lalodati Kecamatan Puuwatu Kota Kendari ditengah pandemi Covid-19, diperlukan langkah-langkah dan strategi baik jangka panjang maupun jangka pendek dengan memberdayakan kelompok peternak ayam kampung, maka target yang dicapai setelah pelaksanaan program PKMI adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak tentang: (1) konsep seleksi ternak ayam kampung, (2)  pembuatan dan penggunaan mesin tetas, (3) metode Inseminasi Buatan (IB), (4) formulasi pakan ayam kampung. Pelaksanaan program PKM-I ini dibagi dalam 2 tahap, yaitu: (1) Kegiatan non fisik meliputi: penyuluhan, pelatihan dan bimbingan teknis (pendampingan) sebagai media transfer informasi pengetahuan dan teknologi; (2) Kegiatan fisik melalui: pengadaan alat/bahan, demontrasi pembuatan dan penggunaan mesin tetas, Inseminasi Buatan (IB), dan formulasi ransum.Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat melalui Skim Program Kemitraan Masyarakat Internal (PKM-I) UHO dengan pendekatan penyuluhan dan bimbingan teknis pada kelompok peternak pembudidaya ayam kampung di Kelurahan Lalodati Kecamatan Puwaatu Kota Kendari dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa penyuluhan tentang manajemen pemeliharaan, manajemen sanitasi dan kesehatan ternak serta sistem pemuliaan ternak ayam kampung dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan motivasi peternak pembudidaya ayam kampung dan Bimbingan teknis penyusunan pakan fermentasi, manajemen penetasan, pembuatan mesin tetas dan inseminasi buatan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan peternak pembudidaya ayam kampung di Kelurahan Lalodati Kecamatan Puwaatu Kota KendariKata kunci: Ayam Kampung, Covid-19, Pemberdayaan Peternak

Abstract

Kecamatan Mowila dan Wolasi menjadi dua kecamatan di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan yang memiliki posisi strategis, sebagai penyangga kebutuhan Kota Kendari, karena memiliki potensi peternakan dan pertanian yang dapat diandalkan. Kedua kecamatan ini memiliki keunikan dalam hal produktivitas sebagai lumbung pangan yang baik di Kabupaten Konawe Selatan.  Sistem pemeliharaan ternak di Kecamatan Mowila dan Wolasi masih intensif terbatas, sudah banyak peternak yang menggunakan kandang tetapi masih ada yang hanya menggunakan sistem ditambatkan. Dalam hal pemberian pakan, peternak umumnya mengandalkan bahan pakan berupa rumput alam yang melimpah pada musim hujan dan sedikit pada musim kemarau yang mengakibatkan ternak mengalami kekurangan pakan pada musim kemarau.  Penerapan teknologi pengawetan pakan merupakan salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk menyediakan pakan ternak pada musim kering.  Selain itu, para petani umumnya hanya memanfaatkan produk utama pertanian tetapi belum memanfaatkan sisa hasil pertanian seperti jerami (batang dan daun) dari sisa  pertanian mereka, umumnya jerami dibiarkan menumpuk kemudian dibakar. Padahal, limbah pertanian dapat digunakan sebagai pakan ternak tetapi hanya sedikit dari petani yang memanfaakan limbah pertaniaannya sebagai pakan ternak dengan alasan kurang disukai oleh ternak.  Pelaksanaan kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata-Tematik (KKN-TEMATIK) di dua kecamatan ini dilaksanakan sebagai implementasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat oleh dosen dan civitas akademika Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Halu Oleo yang bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan dan pengetahuan baru bagi masyarakat dalam hal mengembangkan kegiatan pertanian dan peternakan yang sedang dijalankan.  Pengenalan beberapa teknologi sederhana seperti metode pengawetan pakan hijauan dan pengolahan limbah pertanian menjadi fokus kegiatan pengabdian ini dalam rangka meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan peternak dalam memanfaatkan sumber-sumber bahan pakan local yang potensial untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan ternak yang optimal.
