Abstract

This research discusses the dynamics and role of Islamic higher education (IHE) until the present era. This era is distinguished by the ongoing development of science and technology, among other factors. IHE have undergone significant institutional and other developments, playing a pivotal role during the Old Order (ORLA), New Order (ORBA), and Reformation eras. Since its inception, IHE has been an integral component of the national education system, its significance further reinforced by two pivotal legislative acts: Law No. 2 of 1989 and Law No. 20 of 2003. Consequently, PTAI is obligated to contribute to the development of the nation while concurrently assuming responsibility for addressing its challenges across various domains. The nation is currently in a period of significant disruption, marked by economic challenges and a growing reliance on debt, which has now reached over 8000 trillion. This situation is further compounded by the presence of tens of millions of poor individuals and other pressing issues. In this context, PTAI is tasked with cultivating a generation of students who are not only well-versed in a broad array of disciplines, but also possess the qualities of entrepreneurship, competence, and moral integrity. This objective is to be achieved through the integration of moral and ethical principles into the educational curriculum, imparted by educators. Upon their graduation, these students will become valuable contributors to the nation's development.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Islamic culture within the school environment as a strategic effort to develop students’ religious character, focusing on a case study at MTs Darul Ihya, Ciomas, Bogor. Drawing upon Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s concept that education is the instillation of meaningful knowledge (ʿilm) leading to adab (proper behavior), the research emphasizes the balanced integration of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in Islamic education. Employing a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and data triangulation, the study investigates how Islamic Education (PAI) teachers promote Islamic values through structured habituation programs such as congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation, morning dhikr, and daily adab practices. Supervision results indicate a fairly strong implementation of Islamic cultural values, with an average score of 78%, although certain areas—such as Qur’an reading habits and student brotherhood—require further reinforcement. These findings highlight the importance of continuous supervision that is not only evaluative but also reflective and solution-oriented. With collaborative involvement from all school stakeholders, Islamic cultural values can be effectively integrated into daily school life, fostering a generation that is intellectually capable, well-mannered, and grounded in both Islamic and national values.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem that the current education system in Indonesia tends to be secular, where Islamic religious studies, including Islamic Cultural History (SKI), are taught only as knowledge without integrating aspects of Islamic culture. In the context of the Independent Curriculum, the applied learning approach does not provide sufficient space for a comprehensive understanding of Islamic history and culture, especially on the theme of Khulafaur Rasyidin, which is often discussed only from the perspective of moral examples without emphasizing the aspect of culture. The purpose of this research is to design and develop learning media that can enrich students' understanding of Islamic Cultural History on the theme of Khulafaur Rasyidin with a more integrative and holistic perspective. This research utilizes the Research and Development (R&D) method by applying the ADDIE development model which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The development stage involves validation by material experts and media experts, and linguists, as well as product trials with teachers and students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The results of this study indicate that the developed learning media not only improves students' understanding of the history and exemplary behavior of the Khulafaur Rasyidin, but also integrates Islamic tsaqofah values in a comprehensive manner. The final product is a learning media that can be used as a teaching aid in SKI subjects in MI, which is able to answer the need for a more comprehensive and integrative approach to Islamic education. The learning media for Islamic History and Culture with the theme of Khulafaur Rasyidin has been tested for its feasibility through validation by experts and users. The validation of material experts showed a score of 3.71 with a percentage of 92.8%, indicating that the content meets very good standards. The validation of media experts produced a score of 3.5 with a percentage of 87.5%, indicating a good and attractive media design. The validation of language experts with a score of 3.3 and a percentage of 82.5% indicates that the language and content delivery are good, this learning media received quite positive assessments from teachers and students.
