Abstract

Stunting is an irreversible growth disorder that can be influenced by many factors, one of which is influenced by inadequate nutritional intake. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is still quite high, so various efforts have been made by the government to tackle the stunting problem. One of the efforts made is to socialize the use of yard land as an effort to prevent and deal with stunting. This article is a literature review compiled to determine the effect of nutritional intake from the home garden on the prevalence of stunted and non-stunted toddlers. The literature sources used in this article use national and international scientific articles published in 2013-2022. Nutritional intake which is the main cause is macronutrient intake, namely carbohydrate, protein and fat intake. Intake of macronutrients provides a large energy contribution to the level of daily energy adequacy. Energy deficit that occurs in toddlers aged 1-5 years is the biggest cause of stunting. Toddlers with stunting will experience chronic growth failure, if not treated immediately it will have a long impact until puberty. Utilization of the yard will affect the amount and type of variation in nutritional intake in toddlers, the diversity of commodities from the home yard will increase the nutritional intake of toddlers so as to avoid chronic malnutrition and stunting. Keywords: Stunting, Use of yard land, Nutritional Intake

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2) is a global health problem with a significant impact on life. The prevalence of DM in the world reached 537 million people in 2021. DMT2 is a metabolic disorder caused by increased blood glucose levels. One of the risk factors DMT2 is dietary intake. Dietary intake is the main cause of the rapid increase in the incidence of DM in developing countries. Blood glucose levels are mainly influenced by dietary carbohydrates, high intake of fast food, carbonated drinks, intake of red meat, sweet foods and excessive intake of white rice are also thought to contribute to an increased risk of insulin resistance in DMT2. Based on this, the author are interested in conducting a literature study about the relationship between dietary intake and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Based on the literature study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between dietary intake and DMT2 so that food intake can affect the incidence of DMT2 in individuals. Various types of dietary components can affect the risk of developing DMT2, therefore healthy dietary intake and regular diet patterns can be done to reduce the risk of various diseases.

Abstract

Since the COVID-19 outbreak was first discovered in Wuhan City, China, Indonesia has issued a policy to maintain social distance at the community level, so that the education sector diverts online learning. Online learning is learning using the internet network and handheld cellphones and computers as learning media. There are several models of online learning applications such as classroom, zoom, as well as whatsapp group. In the case of COVID-19 in Indonesia, children aged 5-12 years have an obese nutritional status with a diet often followed by weight gain and an increase in the frequency of sitting. This is caused by children's activities to stay at home and lead to the creation of a new lifestyle for children, namely a sedentary lifestyle. Parents also experience a dilemma in teaching their children during online learning because parents are not yet popular with distance learning using handheld cellphones or computers as learning media. Therefore, the SKB 4 Ministers also stipulate face-to-face learning because the pandemic has become endemic. During face-to-face learning in Indonesia, children aged 5-12 years have good nutritional status due to the activities of children who are able to return to activities outside the home such as returning to school. If food intake is balanced according to needs accompanied by the selection of the right food ingredients will give birth to good nutritional status. Food intake that exceeds the body's needs will cause excess weight and conversely food intake that is less than needed will cause the body to become thin and susceptible to disease.

Abstract

Water is a very important nutrient and is the most constituent component of the human body. Most of the water required by the body comes from drinking. Each person's fluid needs vary depending on physical activity, age, weight, ambient temperature and humidity. Fluid water is recommended over other types of beverages. Water needs about two liters or eight glasses a day for adolescents and adults who do light activities in the office and home under daily temperature conditions. Hydration knowledge can be a factor that affects the fulfillment of a person's water intake. Good hydration knowledge will make a person choose fluid consumption based on quality and quantity so that their fluid needs are met. Unfulfilled fluid intake can lead to dehydration. Dehydration is defined as a state of the body when fluid expenditure is greater than fluid intake. Dehydration can be a risk factor for overweight. Overweight is a condition when there is an accumulation of excess fat due to an imbalance between energy intake and energy used for a long time. Dehydration can cause a decrease in cognitive function and mood that causes weakness and laziness in physical activity; dehydration also causes fluid and electrolyte imbalances that increase appetite; and dehydration can increase glycerol and free fatty acids resulting in increased triglyceride formation. Adequate water intake can lead to weight loss by slowing gastric emptying and increasing metabolism.

Abstract

In adolescence, health and nutrition have an important role in determining health and nutritional status in the next phase of the life cycle. The prevalence of abnormal nutritional status in Lampung Province is 24.91% for late adolescence aged 19 years and 35.97% for aged 20-24 years, while normal nutritional status for those aged 19 years is 75.09% and those aged 20-24 year amounted to 64.03% according to Riskesdas 2018. This occurs because there are factors that can influence nutritional status, such as body image. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and nutritional status. The research design used in this research is analytical with a cross sectional approach, with a simple random sampling technique. There were 116 respondents obtained using the unpaired comparative categorical analytical formula. In this study there were 2 variables, namely body image and nutritional status. Body image variables are measured by MBSRQ (Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire) and body image variables are measured by body mass index. The data collected was analyzed univariately and bivariately with Chi-Square. The results of the univariate test showed that abnormal nutritional status was 65.5%, while normal nutritional status was 34.5%. In terms of body image, 20.7% of respondents had a positive body image and 79.3% had a negative body image. Based on bivariate analysis, there is a relationship between body image and nutritional status (p = 0.023). From the research results, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between body image and the nutritional status of students in the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, University of Lampung.

Abstract

The body has mechanisms at the cellular level to maintain internal balance, called dynamic balance. Even though the external environment undergoes changes, the body continues to operate to prevent deviation from this balance. Environmental changes can affect internal systems, so homeostasis is needed to prevent damage to cells, tissues and organs through regulatory mechanisms. Homeostasis regulation involves local control (paracrine and autocrine responses) as well as reflex control involving the nervous and endocrine systems. Homeostasis is a basic concept of physiology that plays an important role in maintaining internal stability and adaptive responses in the body. The importance of homeostasis lies in the fact that the body's cells and tissues can only remain alive and function efficiently if their internal conditions are maintained properly. All organ systems depend on each other to maintain homeostasis, and changes in one system can affect other body systems. Homeostasis includes the body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes such as temperature, air, atmospheric oxygen, carbon dioxide levels, physical activity, exposure to toxins, disease, drug therapy, fever, and diet. Disruption of homeostasis can cause dysfunction and loss of control of organs in the body. Several physiological systems are regulated by homeostasis, such as thermoreceptors which regulate body temperature and the role of homeostasis in the endocrine system to regulate hormonal balance and hormone regulation in the body. Homeostasis is influenced by several constant conditions, including body temperature and body fluid balance, which are maintained within predetermined limits (the so-called homeostatic range). Examples of other variables are the pH of the extracellular fluid, the concentration of sodium, potassium and calcium ions, and blood sugar levels. Homeostasis is an automatic process and mechanism carried out by living creatures to maintain constant conditions so that their bodies can function normally, even though changes occur in the environment inside or outside the body.
