Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in Islamic schools (madrasahs), faces significant challenges in improving the quality of learning and strengthening the character of students in the era of globalization. One innovation emerging to address this challenge is the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi (Information and Learning) program implemented at the Islamic Senior High School (Islamic Boarding School) PPMI Assalaam. This program combines traditional Islamic boarding school methods with digital technology to improve educational quality. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi program among female students in the top class at the Islamic Senior High School (Islamic Boarding School) PPMI Assalaam in an effort to improve the quality of madrasah education. The method used in this study was a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, and analyzed descriptively. The main findings of this study indicate that the Setoran Mutun Thalabil 'Ilmi program has a positive impact on educational quality, both in terms of process and outcomes. The learning process, which combines online and face-to-face methods, improves the discipline, motivation, and independence of female students, while the results are seen in improved Arabic language skills and a deeper understanding of Islam. Significant supporting factors include institutional support, madrasah policies, and the competence of the supervising teachers. The conclusion of this study is that the program successfully integrated Islamic boarding school traditions with modern technology, contributing to improving the quality of madrasah education. This study also suggests that other madrasahs can adopt a similar approach to improve the quality of learning in the digital age. Future research is recommended to examine the program's impact on academic achievement in greater depth quantitatively.

Abstract

This study examines the gap between the normative purpose of Islamic Religious Education and its empirical reality in educational practice. Although Islamic Religious Education is intended to shape students’ character and encourage the practice of religious values in daily life, moral degradation, violence, and weak value internalization are still found in educational settings, including Islamic-based schools. This study focuses on understanding the process of value internalization in the experiential learning cycle at Sanggar Anak Alam (SALAM) Yogyakarta and its relevance to the reconstruction of Islamic Religious Education methods. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research combines field research and library research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two senior SALAM facilitators, direct observation, and document analysis. The findings show that SALAM offers important pedagogical insights through experiential and dialogical learning, reflective and process-based evaluation, and the facilitator’s role in guiding students’ learning process. Through these aspects, value internalization takes place not only at the level of understanding, but also through experience, reflection, dialogue, and real action in everyday life. This study contributes a pedagogical reflection on how Islamic Religious Education may incorporate more reflective, participatory, and experience-based approaches in supporting value internalization, moving beyond cognitive and one-way learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies excuted by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling character in students at SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. This is useful to determine the extent of teacher success in realizing graduates with character through the values of integrity, independence, caring, and responsibility in academic and non-academic activities. The background of the study is based on the importance of character in the vocational school environment, where students need to be equipped with good religious, moral, and ethical values. The research method uses a qualitative approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews with one of the PAI teachers, and analysis of documents related to the PAI curriculum. The results of the study indicate that the main strategies of PAI teachers which include habituation, role models, intensive guidance, and the role as a motivator provide quite effective results in instilling character such as discipline, empathy, independence, responsibility that can be applied through their daily activities. However, there are several challenges and obstacles experienced by teachers in carrying out this task such as limited facilities, integration of the religious curriculum with vocational subjects, differences in backgrounds between students, and low interest of some students in PAI subjects also require further innovation. The study concluded that a structured and adaptive Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher strategy can increase the effectiveness of character education at SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. The implementation of this strategy demonstrates that character education is not merely theoretical but also integrated into the learning process and social interactions at school. This investigation contributes to the development of Islamic education in vocational schools, with suggestions for extended investigation into the long-term implications of student behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic Education teachers in instilling morals in students in order to form affective values. This study aims to identify the strategies implemented by Islamic Education teachers in instilling morals in students to develop affective values. The main focus of this study is to understand the extent to which the implemented strategies are able to foster noble character in students through the process of internalizing Islamic values. The research uses a qualitative case study approach, data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis used is Miles and Huberman’s model: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the strategies used included habituation, role modelling, advice, and discipline. The habituation strategy was carried out through routine religious activities such as joint prayer and congregational prayer. The role model strategy was implemented by providing examples of good behaviour from teachers to students. The advice and discipline strategies were implemented through educational motivation and reprimands. The four strategies complement each other in shaping students' affective aspects, such as attitudes, interests, assessments, and character. The instillation of morals in this context aims for students not only to know the value of goodness cognitively but also to internalize and believe in it in everyday life. Teachers and school administrators need to design and implement strategies that are not only theoretical but also practical in students’ daily lives. Habituation through religious activities and teacher role-modeling can create a conducive learning environment for instilling values.
