Abstract

This study aims to determine the need to develop an e-Worksheet based on the SSCS model to stimulate critical thinking skills. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to provide an overview of the implementation of critical thinking skills in high school during learning that implements the independent curriculum. This research was conducted in March 2023. The data source was obtained using the non-test technique in the form of an open questionnaire. The subjects in this study were 15 physics teachers spread across 3 provinces in Indonesia, including Lampung, Central Java and South Sumatra. The data analysis technique is the Miles & Huberman (2018) analysis technique which is carried out continuously until the data is saturated. Data analysis involves three steps, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of the study show that critical thinking skills have not been fully implemented in physics learning in senior high schools in the independent curriculum. Therefore, the development of an e-Worksheet based on the SSCS model is needed to stimulate students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research constitutes a preliminary study aimed at determining the needs of teachers and students in the learning process, particularly in the context of physics subjects related to renewable energy. The chosen research method is a survey, conducted among 27 physics teachers and 59 high school students in MIPA field in Lampung Province using Google Forms. The collected data is then curated and analyzed to identify and address these educational needs. The results of the data analysis reveal a demand for learning programs that can enhance students' numeracy and literacy skills during the learning process. According to the survey, only 43% of teachers and 24% of high school students majoring in Mathematics and Natural Sciences are aware of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This aligns with the finding that only 40% of teachers have integrated PjBL-STEM into their learning programs. The worksheets lack activities that can stimulate students' numeracy and literacy skills, thereby impeding their active engagement in renewable energy learning. These findings are further corroborated by student questionnaires, which indicate that 55% of students feel they face limitations in understanding materials related to renewable energy. Additionally, 85% of physics teachers express concerns about students' difficulties in grasping the concept of renewable energy. Consequently, the development of an integrated renewable energy learning program incorporating PjBL-STEM becomes imperative.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of physics teachers towards the four-tier diagnostic test instrument equipped with self-diagnosis sheet to identify students' misconceptions on linear motion material. The research method used in this study is a mixed method with Sequential Explanatory Design.  Data were collected first using a questionnaire and then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The questionnaire was distributed to 14 physics teachers and 96 high school students in Lampung Province. The results showed that teachers have a positive perception of the use of a four-tier diagnostic test instrument equipped with a self-diagnosis sheet feature to identify students' misconceptions on straight motion material.  The results showed that 87% of teachers had never identified students' misconceptions on straight motion material. The results also show that 90% of teachers only use the results of daily tests as a benchmark to determine the misconceptions experienced by students. Misconceptions in this straight motion material certainly affect the learning outcomes of students, it is known that only 46% of students reach the KKM on straight motion material. And the results of the questionnaire show that 95% of teachers have never identified the misconceptions of students on linear motion material to make and use any type of multilevel diagnostic test instrument because the teacher has no difficulty in making it. So an effort is needed to overcome these problems, namely by making valid, practical, and effective multilevel diagnostic test instruments.  Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that a four-tier diagnostic test instrument equipped with a self-diagnosis sheet is needed to identify students' misconceptions on linear motion material.

Abstract

This research is a preliminary study that aims to determine the needs of teachers and students in the learning process, especially in the material of particle motion dynamics. The research method chosen was a survey, which was conducted on 20 physics teachers and 30 high school students in the MIPA field in Lampung Province using Google Form. The collected data were then curated and analyzed to identify and address educational needs. The results of the data analysis showed a demand for assessment instruments that can measure critical thinking skills and self-efficacy in physics learning. According to the survey, 45% of teachers never assess critical thinking skills and 60% of teachers never assess self-efficacy. Teachers do not apply because of the lack of examples or instruments owned to assess critical thinking skills and self-efficacy. Teachers also do not have assessment instruments that are easy, practical, and appropriate during the learning process. Physics learning assessment at school has not optimized critical thinking skills well, so critical thinking skills are still low, and self-efficacy is still an obstacle. Therefore, the development of assessment instruments to measure critical thinking skills and student self-efficacy in physics learning is very important.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of integrating Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to improve high school students' argumentation skills on the topic of the human respiratory system. This study was conducted at MTs Negeri 2 North Lampung, using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent group design. The population consisted of 166 students spread across five different classes. From this population, samples were taken, namely students in class VIII 1 as the experimental group and students in class VIII 3 as the control group, through a cluster random sampling technique. The research instrument was a 10-question essay test that had been validated to assess students' argumentation skills. The N-Gain data of the argumentation skills of both classes were shown to be normally distributed. Based on the homogeneity of the data obtained, both had homogeneous variances. Data were analyzed using an Independent Samples t-test and effect size calculation. The results showed that the experimental class achieved a significantly higher increase in argumentation skills compared to the control class (0.46 vs. 0.29, p < 0.05). The large effect size (1.26) confirmed the model's substantial impact. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive (82.50%). Based on the evidence, it can be concluded that the ADI-STEM learning model effectively improves students' argumentation skills and fosters 21st-century skills by aligning scientific practices with interdisciplinary learning.
