Abstract

Indigenous bacteria found in natural environments, such as tofu waste, are strongly influenced by environmental factors and environmental nutrients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of tofu waste nutrients on the number of indigenous bacteria in tofu waste. The parameters observed were the characteristics of tofu waste, such as color, aroma, acidity level (pH), and analysis of nutrient content through proximate tests, as well as the calculation of the number of indigenous bacteria using the Total Plate Count method. The results showed that tofu waste was yellowish in color and had a soy aroma, but there was a slight sour aroma in tofu liquid waste. Tofu solid waste had a pH of 6, while tofu liquid waste had a pH of 5. The levels of nutrients, namely protein, fat, ash, and carbohydrates, were higher in tofu solid waste, while the water content was higher in tofu liquid waste. The total indigenous bacteria in tofu solid waste were higher (3.78 × 106 CFU/mL) than in tofu liquid waste (5.55 × 105 CFU/mL). This study concluded that high nutrient content correlated with an increase in the number of indigenous bacteria in tofu waste.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a core competency in physics learning, yet measuring it is constrained by a lack of psychometrically validated instruments. This study aims to develop and analyze a critical thinking assessment instrument on "Work and Simple Machines" for junior high school students. Using a Research and Development (R and D) approach, a 10-item essay instrument was trialed with 175 eighth-grade students and analyzed using the Rasch Model via WINSTEPS. Results indicate construct validity through unidimensionality (variance explained = 39.3%), item fit, and effective rating scale functioning. Reliability was good (student = 0.79; item = 0.84), with adequate separation values. The instrument is considered feasible, valid, and reliable as a diagnostic tool. This research provides educators with an objective tool to map students' weaknesses, enabling targeted pedagogical interventions and effective physics learning strategies.

Abstract

The monoterpene compound has been reported to have antiviral activities . This study aimed to test the monoterpene compound in Melaleuca leucadendra to inhibit the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The monoterpenes tested were α-Pinene, β-Pinene, Linalool, α-Terpineol, and Terpinene-4-Ol. The method used was computational through pharmacophore analysis. The indicator for the quality of the compound was the fit score. A fit score of more than 50% indicates a good-quality compound, while a fit score of less than that indicates a  poor-quality compound. Based on the analysis results, the monoterpene compound in Melaleuca leucadendra can potentially inhibit the SARS-CoV-2 virus directly through the inhibition of 3C-like protease. The linalool showed a fit score of 55% with interactions of hydrophobic, electrostatic, and hydrogen bonds. All the compounds did not inhibit the metabolic process and were safe, possibly having no side effects based on ADMET analysis.

Abstract

Currently, Covid-19 has become endemic. However, the development of Covid-19 drugs continues to be carried out to suppress the growth of the Sars-Cov-2 virus. Some compounds with antiviral activity are catechin, galangin, and hesperidin. Angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE-2) is a protein that enters viruses into the cell. Based on that, ACE-2 can be used as a primary target to suppress the development of the Sars-Cov-2 virus. This study aimed to test the catechin, galangin, and hesperidin compounds in inhibiting the SARS CoV-2 virus from attaching to ACE-2 by trying the interactions of catechin, galangin, and hesperidin compounds with ACE-2 using the in-silico method. The material used was the three-dimensional structure of the compounds catechin, galangin hesperidin, and ACE-2. The tools used were FAF-Drugs4, Discovery Studio, and Pyrex software. Low-affinity energy values (kcal/mol) indicate promising results. The results showed that the energy affinity value of catechin was -6.2 kcal/mol, galangin was -6.3 kcal/mol, and hesperidin was -8.3 kcal/mol. This value is lower than the control affinity energy (chloroquine and favipiravir), which is  -5.2 kcal/mol and -4.8 kcal/mol, respectively. Based on this, catechin, galangin, and hesperidin can be used as inhibitors/competitors for the Sars-Cov-2 to attach to ACE-2.

Abstract

The problem of stunting in Indonesia is still a national concern, stunted children are at higher risk of developing degenerative diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, obesity and cognitive impairment. Analyzing the Effectiveness of Audio Visual Media and Flip Sheets in increasing the Knowledge, Attitudes and Skills of cadres in conducting child growth and development screening in the Cianjur Regency City Health Center area. Research design with a Quasi Experimental approach. The total sample size was 84, divided into 2 groups with a ratio of 1:1. The statistical analysis used is univariate, bivariate using the paired sample T test and Wilcoxon test, Multivariate using the multiple logistic regression test. The results showed significant difference in knowledge (p-value=0.001), attitude (p-value = 0,001) and skills (p-value = 0,001) before and after being given audiovisual media in the intervention group. And there is a significant difference in knowledge (p-value = 0.013); attitude (p-value = 0.026); and skills (p-value =0.001) in the intervention group and control group. The results of research using the multiple logistic regression test showed that there were confounding variables, namely age and education on attitudes and skills, while there were no confounding variables on knowledge. So it can be concluded that audiovisual media is effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of cadres. Therefore, audiovisual media can be used to increase cadres' knowledge and skills in screening children's growth and development.

Abstract

The ability to collaborate and solve problems is essential for students facing 21st-century learning challenges. However, these skills are often underdeveloped in conventional classroom settings. This study aims to investigate the effect of blended project-based learning (BPjBL) on students’ collaboration and problem-solving skills. A quasi-experimental method was used. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sungkai Utara, North Lampung Regency, during the 2023/2024 academic year. The population comprised five science classes (XI IPA 1–XI IPA 5), with a total sample of 55 students selected through cluster random sampling. Class XI IPA 2 (28 students) served as the experimental group, while class XI IPA 3 (27 students) served as the control group. Data were collected using a problem-solving ability test, collaboration skill observation sheets, and learning implementation instruments. The results showed that the BPjBL model had a significant effect on students’ collaboration skills (p = 0.005 < 0.05) and problem-solving abilities (p = 0.007 < 0.05). These findings indicate that integrating blended and project-based approaches can meaningfully enhance key 21st-century competencies. This study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting active learning models and suggests that BPjBL can be effectively implemented in senior high school. These results suggest that BPjBL can be a useful teaching method for promoting critical 21st-century skills and should be considered in curriculum development for science education.
