Abstract

Kemampuan guru junior dikategorikan menjadi 3 level, yaitu 4 guru berpengetahuan matematika tingkat lanjut, 8 guru berpengetahuan matematika sangat memadai, dan 3 guru berpengetahuan matematika cukup memadai.

Abstract

Curricula where inclusiveness towards all students is a priority, the most useful ability to tackle problems in the twenty-first century. This research aims to present primary school education applied by primary school teachers for the teaching and evaluation of critical and inclusive thinking. Using a qualitative method, the authors looked for candidates who have a real commitment to improving the profession of primary school teachers in the elementary school age range (about 7-12 years). Then, the author conducted in-depth interviews in September and October 2022 with ten elementary school teachers, of which 5 were from public schools and 5 were from private schools in Surabaya, Indonesia. Research shows that primary school teachers will recognize the need to develop students' critical thinking skills but are not adequately equipped to meet this demand. Elementary school teachers choose deliberation and cross-group interaction as key methods for developing critical thinking. These primary school teachers link the relationship between critical thinking and fair and high-quality schools. Critical thinking is very important if want to change society in a way that can assess reason, values, pluralism, and diversity.

Abstract

Elementary school students tend to experience boredom when studying mathematics, because teachers have not used interesting learning media so that student learning outcomes decrease. This research aims to determine the effect of using Powtoon media on mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of time measurement for fifth grade elementary school students. This type of quantitative research uses the Pre-Experiment Design method with One Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design. The data collection technique was a written test with a saturated sample in class V, totaling 15 students. Data analysis uses Non-Parametric Inferential Statistics with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Descriptive Statistics. This research uses a data normality test with the Shapiro Wilk Test. Before being given treatment, the average pre-test score for students was 58.66% and after being treated with Powtoon media there was a significant increase with the average post-test score increasing to 76.00%. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test show the value of Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.002. Because this value is less than <0.05, Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of Powtoon media has an influence on mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of measuring time for class V students. This research includes increasing the use of interactive learning media in the educational process, provides empirical evidence about the effectiveness of Powtoon media in improving student learning outcomes, which can be used as a reference for teachers and curriculum developers to improve the quality of mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using WordWall media in improving the understanding of mathematical concepts at the elementary school level. The research method involves a literature review that includes a critical evaluation of literature related to mathematical concepts and WordWall media. Data analysis was conducted thematically with a qualitative synthesis approach, resulting in four main themes and twelve sub-themes. The study's findings indicate a positive impact of using WordWall on students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The average learning outcome scores increased significantly, and there was an improvement in students' mastery of learning through WordWall Gameshow. This medium also proved effective in enhancing students' learning motivation, creating an interactive learning environment, and boosting active participation and collaborative skills among students. WordWall was found to be more effective compared to some other learning media, contributing positively to learning outcomes and student motivation. WordWall also helps overcome students' difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts by providing visual representations and vocabulary support. Thus, WordWall is considered an effective learning tool for improving the understanding of mathematical concepts among elementary school students. The study's conclusion confirms that WordWall successfully achieved its objectives with high significance. However, the study has limitations such as sample size and relatively short research duration. Recommendations for future research include conducting comparative studies with other mathematical learning media, examining the influence of the social environment, developing more specific WordWall learning models, and exploring long-term effects and the correlation between student learning motivation and mathematical learning outcomes. Research on the effectiveness of WordWall in virtual mathematics learning environments is also an interesting area for further study.

Abstract

Abstract: A student's ability to develop essential competencies and attitudes will not be fostered by the use of the traditional educational techniques now used. As a result, teaching methods that engage students in the learning process and encourage them to address real-world issues should be employed in the teaching of Social Science Learning. Teaching social science may benefit from the use of social science authentic learning in this setting. Because students actively participate in the educational process, they encounter real-world challenges and may develop higher-order thinking abilities while addressing difficulties in social science authentic learning, this has been shown to be true. In addition, students are delighted with their education in this manner. We are thus interested in hearing from both students and teachers about their experiences with social science authentic learning in Social Science. The study's sample was created via the use of criteria sampling, which was based on a qualitative research methodology. There are 35 4th grade children, 20 girls and 15 boys, from a private school in Surabaya, Indonesia who participate in the research, as well as the teacher of the class. Focus groups and an open-ended questionnaire were used to gather the data for this study. Using the content analysis method, the data were examined. Authentic social science learning was seen favorably by both students and instructors, according to the findings. Social science authentic learning, according to students, also helped them develop a variety of other characteristics and talents.
