Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Breast milk is the primary source of essential nutrients for infant growth and development, while also functioning as a natural antibody that strengthens the immune system. The World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. However, breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia remains below the national target of 80%, with Kaliwungu Subdistrict, Kudus Regency, reporting a low coverage of only 34.9%. One factor influencing breastfeeding behavior is maternal self-efficacy, which refers to a mother’s confidence in her ability to breastfeed. Self-efficacy may be affected by employment status, as working mothers often face challenges such as limited time, insufficient lactation facilities, and lack of workplace support, all of which may reduce confidence in exclusive breastfeeding. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal employment and self-efficacy in breastfeeding among mothers in Kedungdowo Village, Kaliwungu Subdistrict, Kudus Regency. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 46 breastfeeding mothers with children aged 0–2 years, selected through stratified random sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale–Short Form (BSES-SF). Statistical analysis was performed using the Pearson Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The bivariate analysis showed a p-value of 0.223, which was higher than the significance level (α < 0.05), indicating no significant relationship between maternal employment and breastfeeding self-efficacy. The findings suggest that both formally and informally employed mothers have comparable levels of breastfeeding self-efficacy. Conclusion: Maternal employment is not the sole factor determining self-efficacy in breastfeeding. Other factors such as knowledge, social support, and prior breastfeeding experience may play more significant roles in influencing mothers’ confidence in breastfeeding.

Abstract

Pineapple peels are a potential food waste capable of being repurposed as a substrate for producing high-antioxidant probiotic beverages. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the feasibility of using pineapple peels as a substrate for producing high-antioxidant probiotic beverages through fermentation by Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus casei. Pineapple peels juice was fermented for 48 hours and the growth of microorganisms, reducing sugars, pH, titratable acid, polyphenol compounds, and antioxidant activity were periodically analyzed. The results showed that after 24 hours, the growth of L. plantarum and L. casei gradually slowed down. As fermentation time increased, the levels of reducing sugars and the pH decreased. L. casei reached the highest titratable acidity of 0.90% equivalent to lactic acid after 48 hours of fermentation, while L. plantarum reached 1.21%. The percentage of radical inhibition and phenolic compound increased between 9 and 30 hours of fermentation. The highest inhibition activity of 39% was achieved after 30 hours of fermentation for L. casei, while for L. plantarum, it reached 55% after 9 hours. This study showed that pineapple peels could produce probiotic beverages with high antioxidant. It was a suitable alternative for vegetarians or individuals who were allergic to dairy products.

Abstract

Toxic friendships need to be addressed to prevent them from harming students. Therefore, students need to develop self-love to survive toxic friendships. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Socratic dialogue technique in improving self-love as an effort to address toxic friendships in eighth-grade junior high school students. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method, a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data processing was performed using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 27.0 for Windows. The sample consisted of six eighth-grade students in junior high schools in Yogyakarta, selected using purposive sampling, who were provided during group counseling services. Group counseling services utilized group dynamics to improve junior high school students' self-love so that they have awareness of toxic friendships. Data collection in this study used a psychological scale and analyzed by paired sample t-test. The results of the paired sample t-test, with a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest. The average scores before and after treatment showed an increase from 38 in the pretest to 79 in the posttest. This improvement demonstrates that group counseling using the Socratic dialogue technique has a significant impact, with students becoming more able to understand and appreciate themselves, as well as being more discerning in their relationships. The results of this study indicate that group counseling using the Socratic dialogue technique is effective in improving students' self-love.

Abstract

Dye waste, whether derived from synthetic or natural substances, can pollute the environment if not properly managed. This pollution can degrade the quality of water, soil, and nearby ecosystems. In Kampung Batik Laweyan, one of the well-known batik centers in the Surakarta area, improper waste management poses a serious threat to the sustainability of the batik industry and the health of the surrounding community. A major issue lies in the lack of awareness and understanding about the ecotoxicological effects of dye waste, particularly synthetic dyes, which often contain heavy metals and harmful chemicals. This community service activity was initiated to address this issue through education and empowerment. The main objective was to increase knowledge about the environmental and health hazards posed by dye waste. Activities included health check-ups, questionnaire distribution to assess baseline understanding, educational sessions on ecotoxicology, and practical training on the use of batik brushes. This training aimed to reduce direct skin exposure to harmful substances and minimize the overuse of dyes during the batik-making process. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ awareness of the risks associated with synthetic dyes, including heavy metal exposure and their long-term effects on aquatic life and soil organisms. Participants also gained better insight into sustainable waste management practices. In conclusion, the program successfully raised awareness and encouraged more responsible behavior among batik artisans. It is hoped that such initiatives can continue to promote environmentally friendly practices in the traditional batik industry, contributing to a healthier ecosystem and safer working conditions.

Abstract

Load Oriented Manufacturing Control (LOMC) is an input-output control system development thatconsidered work load in every work center. Production planning starts with determining production leadtime, then work load control (WLC). WLC consist of defining criteria and determining release procedure tothe shop floor for items that will be processed. This research tried to implement LOMC concept in afurniture company called PT.X. The result of the research showed that LOMC could improve throughputand minimize work in process (WIP).

Abstract

This study examines the effect of work-life balance and job satisfaction on turnover intention among employees of Hospital X. The background of this research is based on the increasing phenomenon of employee turnover intention in healthcare organizations, which may disrupt service continuity and organizational performance. The objective of this study is to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of work-life balance and job satisfaction on turnover intention. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 75 employees from both medical and non-medical units, using total sampling technique. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 25. The results show that work-life balance and job satisfaction simultaneously have a significant effect on turnover intention (F = 70.525; p < 0.05), with an Adjusted R Square of 0.653, indicating that 65.3% of turnover intention variance is explained by the model. Partially, both work-life balance and job satisfaction significantly influence turnover intention, with job satisfaction as the most dominant variable. In conclusion, turnover intention is influenced by both psychological and work-related factors in an integrated manner. It is recommended that hospital management improve employee job satisfaction and maintain work-life balance to reduce turnover intention. The implication of this study is that human resource management strategies in healthcare institutions should focus on improving working conditions and employee well-being to enhance retention and organizational stability.
