Abstract

Background: Early of initiation breastfeeding (EIB) can reduce the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). The COVID-19 pandemic reduced early initiation of breastfeeding activities. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to essential services such as breastfeeding counseling in hospitals has been disrupted. Purpose: The purpose of this study is that researchers want to examine the implementation of the EIB by health workers in the maternity room of "Aisyiyah Ponorogo" General Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The research used was qualitative with a case study design. The social situation in this study was delivery support health workers in the Maternity Room and Perinatology Room with informants consisting of five implementing midwives and six implementing nurses. The data collection process was carried out until the data collected experienced data saturation. Data validity was tested using source triangulation, namely patients who gave birth at "Aisyiyah Ponorogo" General Hospital. Results: EIB at 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo General Hospital has always been applied to newborns since 2010 and underwent adjustments during COVID-19 pandemic. The EIB was not implemented due to several conditions which made it impossible. Supporting factors for the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding are the number and ability of health workers and the facilities available from both the hospital and the patient's family. The obstacle in this study is the perinatology room which is located far away so that the nurses in the perinatology department have difficulty carrying out several tasks at once which will cause a discrepancy in the duration of EIB implementation. Conclusion: Collaboration between the hospital, health workers, and the community is needed in an effort to increase the implementation of EIB. Starting from the existence of policies from the Hospital, the ability of health workers and the willingness of the community to improve the implementation of EIB.

Abstract

The performance of health workers reflects employees’ work outcomes in terms of both quantity and quality. A decline in health workers’ performance, or failure to meet hospital expectations, may negatively affect the quality of hospital services. Organizational culture adopted by an institution plays a crucial role in determining performance quality. In addition to organizational culture, work discipline is also a factor that influences performance. High work discipline is associated with improved performance. This study aimed to analyze the effect of organizational culture and work discipline on the performance of health workers at Muslimat Mother and Child Hospital, Jombang. This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variables were organizational culture and work discipline, while the dependent variable was the performance of health workers. The population consisted of all health workers at Muslimat Mother and Child Hospital, Jombang, totaling 132 individuals. Using proportional random sampling, a sample of 100 respondents was obtained. Data were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The results showed that organizational culture had a significant effect on the performance of health workers at Muslimat Mother and Child Hospital, Jombang (p = 0.000). Work discipline also had a significant effect on health workers’ performance (p = 0.000). Furthermore, organizational culture demonstrated a statistically significant influence on health workers’ performance (p = 0.004; OR = 0.023; 95% CI = 0.002–0.290), with a Nagelkerke’s R Square value of 0.934. Organizational culture plays an important role in influencing the quality of health workers’ performance, as it shapes values, norms, and collective behaviors, creates an environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and work comfort, and indirectly enhances discipline and motivation, leading to improved performance.

Abstract

Background: Employee job satisfaction is an important factor in maintaining service quality and the sustainability of hospital organizations. Good job satisfaction can improve performance, loyalty, and employee attachment to the organization. In a multigenerational hospital work environment, job satisfaction is influenced by various organizational factors, including generational diversity, rewards, recognition, and work loyalty. Methods: This study aims to analyze the effect of generational diversity, rewards, recognition, and work loyalty on employee job satisfaction at Gatoel Hospital in Mojokerto. This study uses a quantitative cross-sectional design. The population consists of all medical and non-medical employees at Gatoel Hospital in Mojokerto, totaling 359 people, with a sample of 186 respondents using simple random sampling. Bivariate data analysis used Pearson's correlation test. Multivariate analysis used multiple linear regression. Results: The results of the bivariate analysis showed that generational diversity influenced employee job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.512), rewards influenced employee job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.720), recognition affected employee job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.757), and work loyalty affected employee job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.759). The results of the multivariate analysis show that all variables simultaneously affect employee job satisfaction (p = 0.000), with work loyalty as the most dominant variable (β = 0.378). The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R² = 0.685) shows that generational diversity, rewards, recognition, and work loyalty explain 68.5% of the variation in employee job satisfaction. Conclusion: Generational diversity, rewards, recognition, and work loyalty significantly influence employee job satisfaction at Gatoel Hospital in Mojokerto. Among these factors, work loyalty emerged as the most dominant predictor. These findings highlight the importance of integrated human resource management strategies that strengthen organizational loyalty, ensure fair reward systems, and foster recognition across generational groups to enhance employee job satisfaction and support hospital sustainability.

Abstract

Background: The management of slow moving drugs in hospital pharmacy installations often faces problems in the form of overstock, high inventory values, increased risk of expiration, and low inventory turnover. This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of Min-Max Stock Level (MMSL) on the efficiency of slow moving drug management in the Pharmaceutical Installation of General Hospital Muslimat Ponorogo which is measured through inventory value, expiration rate, storage cost, and inventory turnover. Methods: Quantitative research design of the case control approach. MMSL implementation independent variables (before and after implementation). Dependent variables are inventory value, drug expiration value, storage cost, and turnover ratio (TOR). Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially using the Mann-Whitney U test for variables that are not normally distributed and independent t-test for the TOR variable that is normally distributed. Result: The results of the analysis showed that in the inventory value variable, Mann-Whitney U = 90,000, Z = –0.933, and p = 0.351 (>0.05), so that there was no significant effect of the application of MMSL on the inventory value. In the storage cost variable, identical results were obtained (U = 90,000; Z = –0.933; p = 0.351), which also showed no significant differences between groups. Meanwhile, the expiration value variable showed a very significant difference with U = 17,500, Z = –4,015, and p < 0.001, which means that there is a significant influence of the application of MMSL on the decrease in the value of losses due to expired drugs. For the variable turnover ratio (TOR), the results of the independent t-test showed p = 0.136 (>0.05), so there was no significant effect of the application of MMSL on TOR. Conclusion: The implementation of MMSL significantly reduces losses due to expired drugs but does not significantly affect inventory value, storage costs, or turnover ratio.
