Abstract

Malaria remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide, underscoring the urgent need for novel antimalarial sources. Endophytic fungi associated with mangrove roots of Rhizophora mucronata represent promising candidates, as they are capable of synthesizing secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenoids with known antiplasmodial activity. This study aimed to qualitatively identify antimalarial bioactive compounds from endophytic fungal extracts previously exhibiting the highest heme polymerization–inhibition activity. Fungal isolates were fermented in liquid medium for 21 days and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts were profiled by Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) using two solvent systems: n-hexane : ethyl acetate (5:1) and dichloromethane : methanol (10:1). Band visualization was performed under UV light (254 nm and 366 nm) and with semi-specific reagents (Dragendorff and citro-boric), followed by Rf value comparison. TLC analysis revealed blue-green fluorescent bands corresponding to flavonoids and brown-orange bands indicative of alkaloids, with optimal Rf values of 0.46 (n-hexane : ethyl acetate) and 0.54 (dichloromethane : methanol). These findings confirm the presence of key antimalarial compound classes in the endophytic fungal extract, supporting its potential as a coastal bioresource for drug discovery and development.

Abstract

Abstract

Liver damage can occur due to infection, viruses, drug use, and the environment. Paracetamol is a drug that has analgesic and antipyretic effects, but on the other hand the use of paracetamol in excessive doses (15/day) can cause liver damage. This can occur because the process of paracetamol metabolism in the liver forms a reactive metabolite known as N-acetyl-pbenzoquinonemine (NAPQI). The hepatoprotective mechanism can be seen from the ability of Ichnocarpus frutescens to ward off free radicals formed from the process of lipid oxidation due to the reactive metabolite of paracetamol, namely NAPQI. The method used is a literature review which is a systematic, explicit and reproducible method for carrying out identification, evaluation and synthesis of research works and ideas that have been produced by researchers and practitioners. The data base used is National and International Journal Websites such as Google Scholar.

Abstract

Mother's milk is the best food for conceiving a baby because it is a perfect natural food, easily digested by babies and has nutrients that are in accordance with the baby's needs for growth, immunity and preventing various diseases as well as for baby's intelligence, safe and guaranteed cleanliness because it is directly given to babies to avoid digestive disorders such as diarrhea, vomiting and so on. Exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia has not reached the target of exclusive breastfeeding that has been set at 80%. The cause of low exclusive breastfeeding is a decrease in milk production caused by a lack of stimulation of the hormones oxytocin and prolactin. The type of research used is Quasy Experiment with the design used post test only design with control group. The study was conducted in Aek Haruaya village, Portibi sub-district, North Padang Lawas district in 2022. The research population was mothers who had babies 0 – 2 months. Sampling technique with non-probability sampling with 10 respondents in the treatment group and 10 respondents in the control group. The results of the study concluded that the mean volume of milk expulsion in the treatment group was >20 ml, while the mean volume of milk expulsion in the control group was >40 ml. The results of the Independent T-Test test, p-value = 0.002, which means p<0.05, which means that there is an effect of oxytocin massage on increasing breast milk production.

Abstract

The postpartum period (peueperium) is the period after childbirth is complete, up to 6 weeks or 42 days. After the postpartum period, the reproductive organs will slowly experience changes like before pregnancy. Postpartum mothers experience recovery in their physical and psychological condition. What is expected in the 6 week period after giving birth is that all of the mother's body systems will recover from the various effects of pregnancy and return to their pre-pregnancy state, one of which is changes in the uterus which gradually recovers to its pre -pregnancy state. Postpartum mothers will experience changes in uterine involution, namely the process of returning the uterus to the state it was in before pregnancy. The uterus will decrease in size in approximately 6 weeks. However, it can be faster if you balance it by doing postpartum exercises. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of postpartum exercise on uterine involution in postpartum mothers. This research is a quasi-experimental-research to test cause and effect relationships or find the effect of an intervention on the population, using the Wilcoxon signed rank test to see the effect before and after postpartum exercise on the respondent's uterine involution. This research was conducted in Aek Haruaya village, Portibi District, North Padang Lawas Regency in 2023. The results of this research show a p-value of 0.000 (α<0.05), which means that there is an influence of postpartum exercise on uterine involution in mothers in Aek Haruaya Village, Portibi District, North Padang Lawas Regency in 2023.
