Abstract

The vocational high school principal is a determining factor for the progress or failure of a school. Therefore, the principal's performance evaluation must be optimal. This study explores the government direction on this performance evaluation in two neighboring countries: Indonesia and Malaysia. The research method uses a qualitative approach, by interviewing both school supervisors and principals, and analyzing documents. The steps are 1) collection of resources through multi techniques; 2) reducing data with the aim of simplifying and categorizing data; 3) presenting data in the form of qualitative descriptions; 4) drawing conclusions and 5) compiling research reports and formulate comparative research findings. For Indonesia, once a year, the School Supervisor and a team from the Education Office in Indonesia are responsible for carrying out the review of the performance of the principals of vocational schools. The current evaluation of the principal of a vocational high school in Malaysia is a component of the overall review of the school's performance. Standard of Educational Quality in Malaysia is the name given to this evaluation, and it has been in effect since 2017. Standard 1 Kepemimpin is the most important benchmark to consider in relation to principal performance (Leadership). The performance evaluation in Indonesia seems still separated from school performance evaluation or accreditation. Although each evaluation scheme has its own format and purposes, the implementation could be made in such a concurrent time. Meanwhile in Malaysia, the principal performance is likely one of the evaluated aspects in the school performance evaluation (SKPM), especially Standard 1 Kepemimpinan (leadership) and Standard 2 Pengurusan Organisasi (organization management).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the business network's impact on the sales volume of rice crackers at a specific production house in Cililin. The study utilizes a qualitative research methodology with a descriptive model, including interviews, observations, and documentation as research methods. The research findings indicate that a rice cracker production facility in Cililin has established a robust production network, with several suppliers providing raw materials. Additionally, the facility has developed a marketing network by actively participating in the trader community in West Bandung. Furthermore, the facility has formed cooperative partnerships with different supplier stores to facilitate distribution. The rice cracker production plant in Cililin has effectively enhanced its annual sales volume through its established business network while selling items exclusively within the local vicinity. Hence, it is recommended that the production company in Cililin enhance its commercial network to broaden prospects, resulting in a surge in sales volume and profits. This entails expanding corporate networking to expand the market reach and optimizing management systems for a more streamlined firm operation.

Abstract

AbstractThe study examines how motivation, work environment, and discipline affect academic staff performance at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) following the COVID-19 pandemic. Using parametric statistics, it involved 191 participants in this ex-post facto quantitative research study. According to the study, motivation, work environment, and discipline all positively and significantly affect the performance of the UNY academic staff. The novelty of this study is that when employees switch from working from home to the office, it affects their motivation, the work environment, and their ability to be disciplined because of worries about the virus resurfacing. The urgency of this study is that UNY is changing from a Public Service Agency to a Legal Entity State University, so to help prepare better human resources, it needs to collect actual information. The study results are explained in more detail, along with some suggestions and implications. Keywords:Motivation, Work Environment, Discipline, Work Performance, Academic Staff

Abstract

This research analyzes theories and strategies for increasing teacher competency through academic supervision. This research used a qualitative literature review method. The collected articles were selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 120 relevant books and articles. The document findings were then analyzed and sorted into three main topics: educational supervision, teacher competency, and the era of society 5.0. After grouping the data based on the themes above, 10 articles and books were found on topics related to educational supervision, 10 articles and books on teacher competency, and 5 on the era of society 5.0. The research results show that school (madrasah) principals must have expertise and seriousness in supervising educational institutions, especially academic supervision, which aims to improve teacher competence. Academic supervision involves planning, implementation, and evaluation with the principles of objectivity and continuous improvement. With this research, it is hoped that it can be used as a model for effective academic supervision by school principals and teachers in the information technology era.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the remuneration policy and its impact on lecturer performance at State Islamic Universities in Indonesia. The policy, initiated by the central government as a form of recognition for lecturers' professionalism, is assessed using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. A qualitative approach was employed to comprehensively analyze the policy’s contextual background, resource allocation, implementation processes, and outcomes. Data was collected through document analysis and in-depth interviews with key mid-level stakeholders, including deans, members of the internal supervisory unit, the quality assurance team, the planning and finance bureau, the finance department, and the personnel bureau. The data were analyzed using a descriptive method involving data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the remuneration policy positively influences lecturers’ performance, particularly in fulfilling the three pillars of Indonesian higher education: education, research, and community service. This study provides valuable insights for university leaders and policymakers in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of remuneration policy implementation to support institutional advancement.

Abstract

This study estimates the heterogeneity of agglomeration externalities across employees' education levels in Indonesia. This study uses the 2020-2024 microdata and the Instrumental Variable (IV) Heckman model with the historical population density and the number of universities as IVs. The result indicates that social returns to education from the local high-skill labor market, which is a part of agglomeration externalities, are positively significant and higher for high- and medium-skilled employees than for low-skilled employees. This finding demonstrates the efficacy of public education investments, especially Indonesian government policy that can enhance the quantity and quality of university graduates, thereby promoting the transfer of knowledge to all employees and eventually reducing wage inequality between regions.

Abstract

Enhancing teacher competence is essential for improving educational quality. This study investigates effective planning, implementation, and evaluation patterns for teacher competency development at Sirithamwittaya School, a junior secondary school in Southern Thailand. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed to explore the experiences of principals and teachers. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis to identify key patterns in teacher development. Three major patterns emerged. Planning involves structured collaboration through meetings among principals, teachers, and education staff, fostering a shared vision. Implementation utilizes diverse professional development methods, including training seminars, workshops, material writing training, and ICT training, to enhance teachers' skills. Evaluation is systematic, incorporating activity monitoring, collaborative problem-solving, and teacher recognition to maintain motivation and commitment. Findings underscore the significance of a collaborative approach and systematic evaluation in teacher development. Effective planning ensures alignment with educational goals, diverse implementation strategies enhance professional growth, and structured evaluation reinforces continuous improvement. This study suggests that the identified patterns can serve as a model for other schools seeking to enhance teacher competence and improve educational outcomes. Further research could explore their application in different educational contexts.
