Abstract

Baramundi (Lates calcarifer) is a leading commodity in Indonesia, but it faces challenges in terms of feed efficiency. Feed is a key factor in determining production costs. Feed efficiency in fish will increase if the feed provided can be well-digested by the fish, allowing the energy obtained from the feed to be optimization. One effort to achieve this is by using pineapple peel waste as a source of the enzyme bromelain. The objective was to analyze the effect of adding pineapple peel extract on growth, feed utilization efficiency, digestion time, and the optimal dosage given to white snapper (Lates calcarifer). This research used an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The aspects studied were the effectiveness of adding pineapple peel extract at different dosages to the feed with four treatments and four repetitions, resulting in 16 experimental units. P1 was without the addition of pineapple peel extract (control), P2 with the addition of 25 ml of pineapple peel extract per kg of feed, P3 with the addition of 50 ml of pineapple peel extract per kg of feed, and P4 with the addition of 75 ml of pineapple peel extract per kg of feed. Based on the results of the research concluded that adding pineapple peel extract at different dosages to the feed had a significantly different effect on absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, feed conversion, feed utilization efficiency, and stomach emptying time in white snapper. However, the addition of pineapple peel extract at different dosages to the feed did not have a significantly different effect on the survival rate of common carp. The best values in each test parameter were found in the treatment with adding 50 ml of pineapple peel extract per kg of feed

Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is a fishery commodity that is the largest contributor to exports compared to other commodities. The success of shrimp survival and growth cannot be separated from the molting process, which requires calcium. The calcium that absorbed from the cultivation media can play a greater role in the process of exoskeleton formation. Dolomite lime (CaMg(CO3)) and tohor (CaO) can be sources of calcium that can be added to cultivation media. The research method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 different treatments (A: without additional lime, B: 0.8 gr dolomite, C: 0.8 gr tohor, D: 0.3 gr dolomite + 0.5 gr of tohor, E: 0.5 gr of dolomite + 0.3 gr of tohor) with 3 repetitions. The results showed that the addition of lime at different doses provided a molting frequency ranging from 2.07 – 3.23 times during the 60 days rearing period, where treatment E was the optimum treatment. The absolute weight growth obtained ranged from 2.52 gr – 5.03 gr, with an absolute length of 5.25 cm – 9.11 cm. The highest survival rate during maintenance in treatment E reached 72%. The water quality conditions measured during the activity were alkalinity 135 – 146 ppm, Ca hardness 132.74 – 172.39 ppm, temperature 29.9 – 30.3°C, DO 6.3 – 6.5 mg/l, pH 7 .9 – 8.3 and salinity 32 -34 ppt.

Abstract

Eel seeds for aquaculture are primarily sourced from the wild. These seeds respond poorly to feed during the initial rearing phase. Therefore, this study aimed to provide feed that eels can consume in the early stages of culture. This study used an experimental method by testing the level of eel acceptance for natural feed, namely worms (Lumbricus sp.), golden snails (Pomacea sp.), chicken intestines, and maggots (black soldier flies), which will then be used as attractants mixed with pellet flour. Based on the order of feed selection and the time duration of eel response to the feed, eels preferred earthworms and snails as feed compared to maggots and chicken intestines. However, the four tested feed types can be consumed by eels. Mixing earthworms with pellet meal in the form of paste feed was responded well by eels. Eels consumed more (p <0.05) pellet meal mixed with earthworms than feed that did not have earthworms added to it. The incorporation of earthworms as an attractant in paste feed, as much as 50%, produced the same eel growth (P> 0.05) as eels given 100% worms. It indicated that a combination of artificial feed and earthworms could facilitate the consumption of artificial feed by eels in the initial phases of culture.

Abstract

Pecaron Hamlet, Klatakan Village, is located in Kendit District, Situbondo Regency, East Java, and is one of the areas rich in natural resource potential, including the fisheries and agricultural sectors. The capture fisheries and aquaculture sectors are advantages, however, there are still shortcomings in utilizing existing potential, then there is still a lack of interest from the community, especially children, to consume processed fish which is feared to have an impact on the fulfillment of children's nutrition which is less than optimal. Therefore, in an effort to increase the existing fisheries potential and the interest of the community in all circles, especially early childhood, adolescents to adults to start liking or being fond of consuming fish, especially in the Pecaron hamlet environment, Situbondo, East Java, with the KKN Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Universitas Mataram activity, it is hoped that it will be able to achieve this through the implementation of the Fish Eating Movement Socialization program and other programs that have been agreed upon with the village. The interest in eating fish of children at SDN 4 Klatakan is quite high, but there are indeed some students who do not like it because of the lack of creative processed fishery products consumed, this can be seen based on the enthusiasm shown when given nuggets made from 100% fish from participants who like it, so in increasing GEMARIKAN this can be done by all parties by continuing to develop creative processed fish that are attractive to children, one of which is fish nuggets.
