Abstract

The main goal of the study was to determine whether or not students in the second year of Boarding School Putra II Sengkang's academic year 2019–2020 can improve their speaking abilities by drawing on personal experience. It was pre-experimental research in this study. The researcher selected VIII.B with 30 students for this study using a cluster random sampling approach. The research's primary tool was a speaking exam. The speaking exam was intended to determine if the second-year students at Boarding School Putra II Sengkang had improved their speaking abilities. The findings of this study show that after treating students with personal experience, their speaking abilities significantly improved. The value (Sig. 2 tailed) was used to demonstrate the point. With a level of significance (α) of 0.05 and a degree of freedom (df) of N-1 = 30, the value (Sig. 2 tailed) is 0.000. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was approved as a result. Based on the findings, the researcher draws the conclusion that the students' speaking abilities were considerably impacted by the application of personal experience, indicating that personal experience helps students talk more clearly.

Abstract

This study investigates how the Academic Presentation Course supports EFL students in developing their speaking skills through both linguistic and non-verbal aspects. Using a narrative inquiry approach with three participants, the research explored their experiences before, during, and after the course. The findings show that students initially struggled with anxiety, fast speech, and reliance on memorized scripts. However, through guided preparation, rehearsal, and feedback, they improved in fluency, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension, while also enhancing eye contact, gesture, and intonation. Ultimately, the course fostered both technical competence and confidence, shaping them into adaptable, audience-oriented communicators.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The village of Punggur is one of the villages with a relatively low level of education, where only 5% of its population pursue higher education and only 0.15% of them manage to complete high school. In an effort to address the low education level in Punggur Village, a small Village is home to a Community Learning Center (PKBM) named "Komunitas Rumah Pintar Punggur Cerdas". This community was initiated by a young woman from the village who successfully completed her education at a college. With the existence of this learning community, residents of Punggur Village, ranging from children to adults, are allowed to participate in learning and teaching activities there. Recognizing this phenomenon, it is important for researchers to empower human resources at this PKBM in order to facilitate diverse students from different ethnicities, ages, and economic backgrounds. The empowerment activities conducted by the researchers include training in independent curriculum development for volunteer educators, upcycling used items into valuable products, and processing natural resources into appealing traditional foods. These activities are designed with a sustainability perspective aimed at creating a productive younger generation capable of developing the village by utilizing the richness of the surrounding natural resources. Keywords: Kurikulum Merdeka, Community Learning Center, Cooking Explorer, Recycling, SustainabilityABSTRAK Desa Punggur merupakan salah satu desa yang memiliki tingkat pendidikan cukup rendah dimana hanya 5% dari penduduknya menempuh perguruan tinggi dan hanya 0,15% dari mereka mampu menyelesaikan SMA.
