Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method has improved the reading comprehension of second-semester students at Politeknik Ganesha Medan. The researcher found that a lot of students at Politeknik Ganesha Medan had trouble reading the texts after talking to the English teacher and watching them. They can't figure out what the messages mean or what they mean. The researcher did this because she wanted to help the students with their reading comprehension problems. The researcher utilized the cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method to improve students' reading comprehension in response to the identified issue. The researcher utilized a pre-experimental design featuring a non-equivalent control group (Gay, 2006, p. 225). The group underwent a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The research sample consisted of fifteen students. The researcher used only one type of tool, a reading test, to get information. A score will be given to each student's answer, and a formula will be used to find the average score. The scores on the posttest are higher than the scores on the pretest. Researchers could conclude that students' reading comprehension has been enhanced by utilizing the CIRC Method. One thing that helps students understand what they read better is the CIRC Method, which involves working together in groups to comprehend the material and answer questions about the stories. Some benefits of cooperative learning include positive interdependence, face-to-face interaction, individual accountability, and development of interpersonal and small group skills.

Abstract

The role of counselors has become increasingly complex with the advancement of technology and social changes in the modern era. Researchers examine the challenges and opportunities faced by counselors in providing academic, career, and socio-emotional guidance for students. Based on a literature review, it is found that counselors need to develop adaptive skills. Counselors should understand the evolving digital technology, safeguard client data, and uphold higher ethical standards in their practice. Additionally, counselors must continuously update their knowledge through ongoing education and research to enhance the quality of counseling services. This is crucial for preparing a young generation that is mature in independence, emotional management, and decision-making.

Abstract

This study uses Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine women's language politeness in Facebook status updates. Fewer studies have looked at how politeness functions as a gendered discursive practice in digital communication, despite the fact that it has historically been studied as a pragmatic strategy for reducing face-threatening acts. Drawing on Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory and Fairclough’s three-dimensional model of CDA, this qualitative study analyzes 50 Facebook status updates posted by female users. The findings reveal that women predominantly employ positive politeness, negative politeness, and off-record strategies to maintain social harmony, manage face, and negotiate public self-presentation. At the discursive level, politeness functions as a normative expectation shaping women’s online identities, while at the socio cultural level, it operates as an ideological resource that reproduces gendered norms of emotional labor, relational responsibility, and self-regulation. This study contributes to pragmatics and critical discourse studies by reconceptualizing politeness not merely as an interpersonal strategy but as a socially embedded and ideologically loaded practice in digital discourse. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis transformasi pengelolaan lingkungan berbasis kearifan lokal melalui pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan meninjau implikasi hukum dan kesehatan masyarakat. Permasalahan utama yang diangkat adalah rendahnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga lingkungan, lemahnya implementasi hukum lingkungan, serta meningkatnya risiko kesehatan akibat degradasi lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi pada masyarakat yang masih mempertahankan nilai kearifan lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kearifan lokal berperan sebagai sistem nilai yang efektif dalam membentuk kesadaran ekologis dan kepatuhan sosial. Transformasi pengelolaan lingkungan dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan utama, yaitu internalisasi nilai kearifan lokal dan kesadaran hukum, penguatan kapasitas masyarakat berbasis kesehatan lingkungan, serta implementasi partisipatif berbasis regulasi dan praktik kesehatan masyarakat. Model ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan, memperkuat kepatuhan terhadap hukum, serta meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat melalui perbaikan sanitasi dan pengelolaan lingkungan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi kearifan lokal, hukum lingkungan, dan kesehatan masyarakat merupakan pendekatan strategis dalam mewujudkan pengelolaan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan. Abstract This study aims to analyze the transformation of environmental management through local wisdom-based community empowerment by examining its legal and public health implications. The main issues addressed include low community participation in environmental conservation, weak enforcement of environmental law, and increasing health risks due to environmental degradation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation within communities that maintain strong local wisdom values. The findings indicate that local wisdom serves as an effective value system in shaping ecological awareness and social compliance. The transformation process is carried out through three main stages: internalization of local wisdom values and legal awareness, strengthening community capacity based on environmental health, and participatory implementation based on regulations and public health practices. This model effectively enhances environmental awareness, strengthens legal compliance, and improves public health through better sanitation and environmental management. In conclusion, integrating local wisdom, environmental law, and public health is a strategic approach to achieving sustainable environmental management. Abstract

Penelitian Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan limbah tiram berbasis kesehatan lingkungan di wilayah pesisir Aceh Besar. Limbah tiram yang dihasilkan dari aktivitas konsumsi dan usaha kuliner masyarakat pesisir berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik. Penumpukan limbah cangkang tiram dapat menyebabkan gangguan sanitasi, pencemaran air, serta menjadi media berkembangnya mikroorganisme yang berdampak pada kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi terhadap masyarakat pesisir, pelaku usaha, tokoh adat, dan aparatur desa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan limbah tiram diwujudkan melalui kegiatan gotong royong, pemanfaatan limbah secara sederhana, serta pengelolaan sampah berbasis komunitas. Partisipasi ini berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas kesehatan lingkungan, seperti kebersihan lingkungan, pengurangan pencemaran, dan pencegahan penyakit berbasis lingkungan. Faktor yang mempengaruhi partisipasi masyarakat meliputi kearifan lokal, kesadaran kesehatan lingkungan, pengalaman kolektif, serta dukungan kebijakan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi masyarakat berbasis kearifan lokal memiliki peran strategis dalam pengelolaan limbah tiram sekaligus meningkatkan kesehatan lingkungan masyarakat pesisir secara berkelanjutan. Abstract This This study aims to analyze community participation in environmental health-based oyster shell waste management in the coastal areas of Aceh Besar. Oyster shell waste generated from consumption and culinary activities in coastal communities has the potential to cause environmental pollution if not properly managed. The accumulation of oyster shell waste may lead to sanitation problems, water contamination, and the growth of harmful microorganisms that affect public health. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation involving coastal communities, business actors, traditional leaders, and village officials. The findings indicate that community participation is manifested through collective activities, simple waste utilization practices, and community-based waste management systems. This participation contributes to improving environmental health, including environmental cleanliness, pollution reduction, and prevention of environment-related diseases. Factors influencing community participation include local wisdom, environmental health awareness, collective experiences, and policy support. In conclusion, community participation based on local wisdom plays a strategic role in managing oyster shell waste while improving environmental health sustainability in coastal communities. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pengasuhan islami berbasis sekolah dasar yang berorientasi pada integrasi peran ayah dan ibu secara kolaboratif dalam mendidik anak. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada fenomena melemahnya keterlibatan peran ayah dalam pendidikan anak usia sekolah dasar, khususnya di era digital. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan dalam pengasuhan Islami memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap perkembangan spiritual, sosial-emosional, dan akademik anak. Model pengasuhan yang dirumuskan menekankan kolaborasi antara keluarga, sekolah, dan komunitas berbasis nilai al-Qur’an dan hadits. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengembangan program sekolah ramah ayah. Kata kunci: Pengasuhan Islami, Peran Ayah, Anak Sekolah Dasar, Parenting, Sekolah Ramah Ayah. A COLLABORATIVE ISLAMIC PARENTING MODEL IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS: INTEGRATING THE ROLES OF FATHERS AND MOTHERS IN CHILD REARING Abstract This study aims to develop a school-based Islamic parenting model at the elementary level that focuses on the collaborative integration of fathers’ and mothers’ roles in child upbringing. The study is motivated by the phenomenon of declining father involvement in the education of elementary school children, particularly in the digital era. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design using interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that involvement in Islamic parenting has a significant impact on children’s spiritual, socio-emotional, and academic development. The proposed parenting model emphasizes collaboration among families, schools, and communities based on the values of the Qur’an and Hadith. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing father-friendly school programs. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan permasalahan konflik sosial di sekolah dasar serta mengkaji kerangka teoritik school-based mediation (SBM) melalui pendekatan systematic literature review (SLR). Penelitian menggunakan metode PRISMA dengan sumber data dari Scopus, Web of Science, dan Google Scholar pada rentang tahun 2015–2025. Sebanyak 30 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konflik di sekolah dasar didominasi oleh konflik interpersonal, bullying, dan kesalahpahaman komunikasi yang berdampak pada kesehatan mental siswa. Pendekatan manajemen konflik yang berkembang meliputi pendekatan disipliner, restoratif, dan mediasi. School-based mediation terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan sosial-emosional, empati, dan resolusi konflik secara damai. Namun, sebagian besar penelitian masih berfokus pada konteks Barat dan belum terintegrasi dengan nilai sosial budaya lokal. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi berupa pemetaan isu konflik sekolah dasar dan sintesis kerangka teoritik SBM sebagai dasar pengembangan model manajemen konflik berbasis konteks. CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW ON PROBLEM MAPPING AND THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK OF SCHOOL-BASED MEDIATION Abstract This study aims to map social conflict issues in primary schools and examine the theoretical framework of school-based mediation (SBM) through a systematic literature review (SLR). The study employs the PRISMA method using data sources from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar within the 2015–2025 period. A total of 30 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that conflicts in primary schools are predominantly characterized by interpersonal conflicts, bullying, and communication misunderstandings, which impact students’ mental health. Conflict management approaches identified in the literature include disciplinary, restorative, and mediation-based approaches. School-based mediation has been shown to be effective in enhancing social-emotional skills, empathy, and peaceful conflict resolution. However, most existing studies are still focused on Western contexts and lack integration with local socio-cultural values. This study contributes by providing a comprehensive mapping of conflict issues in primary schools and a synthesis of the theoretical framework of SBM as a foundation for developing context-based conflict management models. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan merumuskan model literasi anti-bullying berbasis bahasa dan kearifan lokal dalam meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi siswa sekolah dasar. Permasalahan bullying yang masih marak terjadi di lingkungan sekolah dasar tidak hanya berdampak pada kondisi psikologis siswa, tetapi juga menghambat perkembangan kemampuan komunikasi dan interaksi sosial. Pendekatan yang selama ini digunakan cenderung bersifat parsial dan belum terintegrasi dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia serta nilai-nilai budaya lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur sistematis terhadap berbagai artikel ilmiah bereputasi yang relevan dengan topik bullying, literasi bahasa, dan pendidikan berbasis kearifan lokal. Data dikumpulkan dari database Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, dan SINTA dengan rentang tahun 2015–2025. Analisis data dilakukan melalui teknik thematic synthesis untuk mengidentifikasi pola, konsep, dan kesenjangan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencegahan bullying yang efektif memerlukan integrasi antara penguatan literasi bahasa, internalisasi nilai-nilai kearifan lokal, dan pendekatan sistem berbasis sekolah. Model literasi anti-bullying yang dihasilkan menekankan pada penggunaan bahasa yang santun, empatik, serta penguatan interaksi sosial melalui media budaya lokal seperti permainan tradisional. Model ini berpotensi meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi siswa sekaligus menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang aman dan inklusif. A LANGUAGE- AND LOCAL WISDOM-BASED ANTI-BULLYING LITERACY MODEL IN IMPROVING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ COMMUNICATION SKILLS Abstract This study aims to examine and formulate a language-based anti-bullying literacy model integrated with local wisdom to improve elementary school students’ communication skills. Bullying remains a significant issue in primary education, affecting not only students’ psychological well-being but also hindering their communication and social interaction development. Existing approaches tend to be partial and lack integration with language learning and local cultural values. This research employed a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review method on relevant scholarly articles related to bullying, language literacy, and local wisdom-based education. Data were collected from Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and SINTA databases within the 2015–2025 range. The data were analyzed using thematic synthesis to identify patterns, concepts, and research gaps. The findings indicate that effective bullying prevention requires the integration of language literacy, local wisdom values, and a school-based systemic approach. The proposed anti-bullying literacy model emphasizes polite and empathetic language use, as well as strengthening social interaction through local cultural media such as traditional games. This model has the potential to enhance students’ communication skills while fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
