Abstract

Nestled in the heart of nature, Bumi Perkemahan Guak Lago holds extraordinary tourism potential, yet remains trapped in the shadow of obscurity. The subject of this community service is a hidden gem awaiting its moment in the spotlight, where promotion still relies on conventional methods with limited reach. The prevailing phenomenon is a paradox: a captivating landscape enjoyed only by a handful of local visitors, while a vast wave of digital tourists actively seeks new destinations that go viral on their screens. This Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) initiative acts as a bridge, shifting the paradigm by bringing the winds of digital change directly to the managing community. The applied method was a series of transformative interactions, beginning with intensive socialization on the importance of digital media, followed by practical training and direct mentoring in visual content production. This process went beyond mere theory, immersing participants in every stage—from capturing images with smartphones and basic editing to distribution strategies on social platforms. The overall outcome of this activity is commendable: the birth of a professional promotional video entirely crafted by the local community, which now serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a new symbol of pride and self-reliance. The activity successfully ignited the spark of digital literacy, transforming passivity into activity, turning mere site caretakers into confident content creators. Its impact flows like the waters of Guak Lago refreshing, bringing new life, and opening a stronger current of economic opportunities for sustainable village tourism. This empowerment is not an end but the first step on a long journey toward promotional self-sufficiency in the digital era.

Abstract

Character development in higher education faces increasing challenges due to rapid social change, digitalization, and growing expectations for graduates to demonstrate not only religious integrity but also social responsibility and leadership competencies. In Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions, Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) values serve as the core foundation of character education. However, existing learning approaches and measurement instruments tend to emphasize religiosity and have not yet adequately captured the multidimensional nature of student character development. In response to this issue, this study aims to develop a conceptual basis for AIK-based character education instruments through a systematic literature review. A total of 23 relevant studies were analyzed to synthesize AIK learning strategies, character dimensions and indicators, and methodological challenges in measuring AIK-based character development in higher education contexts. The synthesis reveals that effective AIK learning strategies such as direct instruction, habituation, role modeling, and value reflection contribute to multiple character dimensions, including religious spiritual, moral social, social engagement, leadership, and Muhammadiyah identity. The findings also highlight the importance of character indicators that integrate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains and are responsive to digital, multicultural, and prophetic values. This review identifies a significant gap in the availability of comprehensive, valid, and contextually grounded psychometric instruments for assessing AIK-based character development in higher education. By proposing an integrated conceptual framework, this study contributes theoretically to clarifying AIK-based character development and provides direction for future instrument development, assessment, and evaluation practices within Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions.

Abstract

Character education plays a strategic role in shaping the work culture of Vocational High School (SMK) students, but its integration with work culture based on the needs of the industrial world is still not optimal. This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education, the implementation of work culture, the effectiveness of strengthening character education on work culture, and the factors that influence the optimization of students' work culture in the Industrial Chemical Engineering major at SMK Negeri 2 Depok. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with students, homeroom teachers, and the vice principal for student affairs during the period April–July 2025. Data were analyzed using thematic coding and validated through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results indicate that character education is implemented systematically through values-based, habituation-based, collaborative, and exemplary approaches. The 5R work culture (ringkas, rapih, resik, rajin, and rawat) is consistently applied in intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, thus forming characters of discipline, honesty, resilience, and responsibility. The novelty of this study lies in the discovery of an integrated model for strengthening character education based on the 5R work culture, which has proven effective in improving the work readiness of vocational high school students in accordance with the demands of the industrial world.

Abstract

Ecoprint as a Basis for Elderly Empowerment: A Multidimensional Study of Ecological, Aesthetic, Social, Economic, and Sustainability Perceptions Abstract The elderly population in Indonesia continues to increase, reaching 10.48% of the total population (BPS, 2022). This demographic shift indicates the need for empowerment strategies that enable the elderly to become active and productive contributors to sustainable development. One promising approach is ecoprint, an environmentally friendly creative industry that utilizes natural materials such as leaves and flowers to produce artistic textile patterns. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of elderly individuals toward ecoprint from five dimensions: ecological, aesthetic, social, economic, and sustainability perspectives. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with 14 respondents selected through purposive sampling in Argosari, Sedayu. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings show that the ecological dimension scored the highest (90.4%), followed by social (89.3%), aesthetic (88.1%), sustainability (85.7%), and knowledge (85.7%), while the economic dimension received the lowest score (59.5%). These results indicate that elderly participants appreciate ecoprint as an environmentally sustainable and culturally valuable craft but remain uncertain about its economic potential. The study concludes that ecoprint holds significant promise as a medium for ecological education, social cohesion, and creative economic empowerment for the elderly. Strengthening institutional support, marketing networks, and entrepreneurship training is essential to enhance its sustainability.
