Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a crucial stage for identity formation and social skill development, yet many adolescents struggle with emotional regulation and building healthy interpersonal relationships. Martial arts activities are known to instill discipline, respect, and cooperation, contributing to socio-emotional growth. However, empirical studies examining the direct relationship between martial arts participation and interpersonal intelligence especially in the Indonesian adolescent context remain limited. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the role of martial arts activities in supporting the development of adolescent interpersonal intelligence through the values of discipline, cooperation, and respect for others. Methods: This study used an ex post facto method with a quantitative approach. The subjects were 87 adolescents who actively participated in martial arts training in pencak silat, karate, and taekwondo in Bandung City. The instruments used included a martial arts activity questionnaire and a validated interpersonal intelligence scale. Findings/Results: The results of the compare mean analysis showed that the highest average score in interpersonal intelligence was found in the empathy indicator (M = 17.2; SD = 2.1), while in martial arts activities the highest was found in the activity type indicator (M = 13.4; SD = 2.2). In addition, the results of simple linear regression showed a 36.4% contribution of martial arts activities to interpersonal intelligence (R2 = 0.364; F = 122.77; p = 0.001). Conclusion: The findings indicate that martial arts participation contributes positively to adolescents’ socio-emotional development, particularly by strengthening interpersonal intelligence. This study provides an important contribution by offering empirical evidence for the role of sports-based character education in shaping interpersonal skills. However, the limited sample and the use of an ex post facto design reduce the generalizability and do not allow causal interpretation. Future research should involve larger and more diverse participants as well as stronger methodological designs to better understand how martial arts influence adolescents’ interpersonal development.

Abstract

High‑pressure oxygen compressors are vital assets in hospitals to ensure continuous medical oxygen supply. The gas compression process generates considerable heat, which, if not properly controlled, can reduce efficiency and damage components. This study analyzes the effect of increasing pressure on temperature across different compression stages and evaluates the cooling circulation system performance of a 2000 PSI/150 Bar oxygen compressor at Redabolo Regional Hospital, Southwest Sumba. A quantitative experimental method was applied, recording temperature and pressure data at four compression stages and two cooling circulation points (bottom and top) under pressures of 0, 1000, and 2000 PSI. The data were processed to determine temperature changes (ΔT), actual heat transfer, and cooling and heat transfer efficiencies. Thermodynamic verification of adiabatic and isothermal processes was conducted using the ideal gas law. Results indicated that temperatures rose with increasing pressure, with the most significant rise occurring in Stages 3 and 4, reaching 89–90°C at 2000 PSI. The cooling circulation system proved highly effective, achieving approximately 83.05% cooling efficiency and 98.16% heat transfer efficiency. Verification confirmed that compression was neither purely adiabatic (due to active cooling) nor isothermal (due to rising temperature). Operating temperatures near the maximum limit at high pressure highlighted the need for heat management and predictive maintenance. The absence of post‑operation cooling in the second experiment emphasized its importance for component integrity. In conclusion, the compressor operated effectively with a reliable cooling system, though high temperatures in the final stages remain a concern. Recommendations include enhanced temperature monitoring, evaluation of cooling capacity, and strict post‑operation cooling procedures to minimize risks and optimize long‑term performance.

Abstract

Dry powder sieving is a crucial process for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), where particle uniformity directly impacts product quality and production efficiency. Traditional vibrating sieving machines in local markets are typically evaluated through visual inspection, resulting in subjective assessments without quantitative evidence of energy efficiency or vibration stability. High humidity often causes powder clumping, reducing consistency and reliability. To address these limitations, this study introduces an Arduino based embedded system for quantitative performance and energy evaluation of a vibrating dry powder sieving process. System integrates an Atmega328P microcontroller (Arduino Uno) with infrared and DHT11 sensors, an L298N motor driver, a DC motor, and an LCD display. Electrical parameters (voltage and current) and vibration signals (acceleration along the X, Y, and Z axes) were acquired in real time at a sampling frequency of 10 Hz and recorded to an SD card for 60–90 seconds per cycle. Metrics included electrical power, energy consumption, vibration RMS, peak amplitude, dominant frequency, and energy efficiency expressed as the mass of powder sifted per joule of energy consumed. Experimental results, conducted using rice flour as a representative dry powder, showed that high humidity increased agglomeration, while a reciprocating motor at 210 RPM improved particle distribution across the sieve. The infrared sensor reduced energy consumption by activating the motor only when material was present. Overall, the system achieved an efficiency improvement exceeding 85% compared to manual sieving. This study demonstrates that embedded sensing and data acquisition can transform traditional sieving machines into objective, transparent, and reproducible systems for MSMEs, with potential application to various dry powders
