The actors in the palm oil supply chain industry are the farmers, traders, crude palm oil (CPO) factories, frying-oil factories (refineries), distributors and the consumers. The farmers sell fresh fruit bunches (FFB) to the CPO factories through traders. FFB is converted into CPO which is later sold to the refineries. Refineries convert CPO into frying oil which is sold to the consumers through the distributors. There are risks due to product quality consistency, price fluctuation and supply chain continuity. This study has two objectives: (1) to develop a model to identify, evaluate and rank the risks, (2) to develop a model to identify and rank the strategies in improving their added value. Data for this study was obtained through direct interviews and questionnaires. The respondents were selected experts and industry players. The data were processed using Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) models. The first FAHP model showed that the two most important risks were the supply chain continuity and product quality. The second FAHP model showed that the recommended strategies to improve the added values of the actors were the improvement of the infrastructure/cluster development, followed by the usage of superior seeds and cultivation techniques.

Situational analysis is an important study to understand the root causes and solutions that are relevant to a phenomenon. The research focused on the situational analysis of the shallot supply chain which encountered problems of production and downstream instability, which affected inflation and deflation. Without a clear situational analysis, institutional intervention becomes more difficult. The aim of the study was to analyze the situation of the shallot supply chain case study in Majalengka Regency, Indonesia. Situational analysis is carried out using a soft system dynamic methodology (SSDM) approach. The research produced a picture of the real world supply chain of shallots through a rich picture chart. Relevant systems that will be built are obtained through CATWOE analysis including; support system for fulfilling irrigation production infrastructure to ensure production stability; sustainable guidance system for independent seed production; special institutional systems which function as absorbent products, guarantor of product quality standards and regulator of price stability; a system that provides training to increase product added value in a sustainable manner as well as training for institutional farming development; and a system that provides GAP training to ensure the quality and quantity of products leading to a structured market. The relationship in the pictured system is illustrated through a causal loop diagram (CLD) chart. The next step that can be done from the results of the research is analyzing the behavior of the model and developing a scenario to improve policies that can support the development of innovation systems in the shallot supply chain. The objective of this article is to analyze the existing methods and approaches for trust and trustworthiness to develop a new framework in agroindustry logistics and the supply chain from shipment planning, routing and scheduling, shipping execution and inventory control processes. The author reviewed and synthesized 84 scientific articles which were published between 2004 and 2019. The reviewed articles were categorized into contract, competencies, goodwill, and performance trust and trustworthiness. The potentials identified for future research were the importance role of management in maintaining trust and trustworthiness in the supply chain system. Most previous authors have applied an approach of interaction and impact on collaborative relationship and performance in supply chains. The dominant methods we found in literature were contractual and impact on relationship quality. Most of the literature focuses on managing trust relationships and there is a lack of discussion about the relationship of trust in shipment planning, routing and scheduling, shipping execution and inventory control. The contribution of this paper was mapping the method in relationship of trust, trustworthiness and develop new framework. This paper developed and suggested a new framework for maintaining trust and trustworthiness in the agroindustry logistic and supply chain model.

One of the agri-food characteristics is perishable product which made it has a higher chance damage risk from the farmer to the consumer. While issues around food security and associated risks are extremely important. Some methods or approaches have been used to identify and assess risks that occur in agri-food supply chain. The purpose of this paper was to identify the development of methods or approaches used to identify and assess the risks that occured in the agri-food supply chain. The articles search was undertaken through articles search on selected relevant journals of supply chain risk management for agri-food published from 2004 until 2014. A total of 77 randomly selected journal articles had been analyzed. These mapping were arranged in systematic stages, started from searches related supply chain risk management for agrifood. Furthermore, the articles identified and classified the methods or approaches for each stage of supply chain risk management, and were divided into three main stages: risk identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation. The last, the articles of risk identification are categorized into three groups : qualitative, semi-quantitative and qualitative. The mapping results showed that risk assessment supply chain for agri-food was much related to microbiology risk assessment. It related to the characteristics of agri-food products. Standard models used for risk assessment in supply chain for agri-food were based on integration of statistical analysis and simulation. The other techniques used included intelligent technique, optimization models and multi-criteria decision analysis. The literature on supply chain risk management for agri-food is so vast, complex and difficult to understand that a mapping of method and approach is needed and much value for the research community. Management of supply chain that interrelates and integrates both consumers and suppliers in a process to make a value of product or service for consumers is very importance and strategic as well. The research objective is to analyze and improve the sustainability performance of production process and distribution flow of the teak seedling production within its supply chain. This research used multiple dimensional analysis and value stream mapping to identify the sustainability performance and analytical network process to find the key factors that improve the SCM performance of superior teak production. The research found that 1) the Parameter influencing SCM is supplier and therefore it requires system improvement. The problem is that the delivery of materials purchased in Surabaya takes too long time before they are stored in the warehouse. Placing a purchase order long time beforehand may apparently solve the problem. But in fact, it creates another problem because the materials are not to be stored in the warehouse for a long time due to their short expiry date and due to the limited infrastructures like warehouse and roads. SCM values on the production system of superior teak seedling production of BPPT located in Jatisari area is 56.62 with a quite high category. Based on the leverage analysis, the most dominating SCM components are waiting factor at the value of 2.71; overproduction at 2.30 and inventory at 2.25, 2) Based on the ANP analysis, the research found a position map of SCM components at the stress value of 3.411% meaning that it is an Excellent model suitability while the index of fit (R) is at 94.673% meaning it meets the appropriateness. Transportation process consists of transportation of auxiliary material of seedling production, travel of seedlings from nurseries to adapting areas, and distribution of seedlings. Slow supply of consumables required for seedling production process due to long distance between the production areas and supplier sites will cause delayed delivery of goods particularly of those that are not scheduled because of special cases. Tuna is one of the flagship export commodity from Indonesia which has special characteristics such as high perishable food and has a complex supply chain network. According to the characteristics, the potency of deterioration and cross contamination along the chain will be a challenge for every actor in tuna supply chain, to provide tuna product with the best quality and safe to consume. One of the tool to ensure the standard safety and quality is doing traceability system along tuna supply chain. It is very crucial because every actor in chain has a responsibility to ensure food safety and quality through handling, manufacturing, packaging, and transporting the product. The critical point that should be covered by traceability system in tuna supply chain includes temperature, content of histamine, quantity of TPC, and contents of bacterial pathogens like Salmonella, and the sanitation for workers, equipment and processing room. The Information Technology (IT) based tuna traceability system is proposed and discussed in this paper to optimizing the traceability system in tuna supply chain. This paper discusses the development of a traceability system architecture and prototype for tuna supply chains. The developed system prototype shows the functional capabilities required for backward and forward tracing of tuna fish transformation and movement along the chain involving many actors (from fishing vessels to retailers). The system also permits the monitoring of processes and products based on microbiological analysis and on existing SOPs owned by some actors in a a tuna supply chain. The implementation issues are also described in this paper.
