Sosialisasi Stop Gadget dalam Meningkatkan Kesadaran Penggunaan Gadget pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar Nur Hazizah; Mutmainnah; Nuranisa; Ainul Hayati; Harmilawati

Abstract

Penggunaan gadget pada anak usia sekolah dasar semakin meningkat seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi digital. Meskipun gadget memberikan berbagai manfaat, seperti kemudahan akses informasi dan peningkatan literasi digital, penggunaan yang tidak terkontrol dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap perkembangan kognitif, sosial, dan perilaku anak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran siswa mengenai penggunaan gadget secara bijak melalui program sosialisasi “Stop Gadget”. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari hingga Februari 2026 di tiga sekolah dasar di Desa Bua, Kecamatan Tellulimpoe, Kabupaten Sinjai, yaitu SD Negeri 37 Bua, SD Negeri 163 Lempangan, dan SD Negeri 195 Balangpangi. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi interaktif yang meliputi penyampaian materi, pemutaran video edukatif, permainan edukatif, serta simulasi aktivitas non-gadget. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa, di mana skor rata-rata pre-test sebesar 24,53 (61,32%) meningkat menjadi 32,37 (80,97%) pada post-test. Siswa mulai menyadari dampak negatif penggunaan gadget serta munculnya kesadaran untuk mengurangi penggunaan. Selain itu, siswa juga mulai mengenal alternatif kegiatan positif tanpa gadget. Program ini terbukti efektif dalam menanamkan kesadaran dini dan mengubah pola pikir siswa terhadap teknologi. Pentingnya kegiatan ini terletak pada kemampuannya membangun ekosistem digital yang sehat bagi anak melalui pendekatan edukasi yang menyenangkan, yang diharapkan dapat berkelanjutan dengan dukungan guru dan orang tua untuk mencegah ketergantungan gadget jangka panjang.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery plays a crucial role in supporting young learners’ overall English proficiency, particularly in elementary-level contexts where learning typically relies on concrete examples and active engagement. However, many students still experience difficulties in retaining and understanding new vocabulary due to teacher-centered instruction and the limited use of interactive learning methods. To address this gap, this research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method in enhancing students’ English vocabulary mastery, specifically on the topics of body parts and action commands. Employing a quantitative one-group pretest–posttest design, the research involved fifth-grade students at SDN 246 Bulu-Bulu, Tonra District, Bone Regency. Data were obtained through a vocabulary worksheet and a comprehension test designed in accordance with TPR principles, and an 80-minute TPR-based learning session served as the intervention. The results show a notable improvement in students’ vocabulary performance, with mean scores increasing from 64.29 on the pretest to 83.10 on the posttest. A paired sample t-test further confirmed a significant effect of the TPR method on vocabulary mastery, indicated by a t-value of 7.26 exceeding the critical value of 2.086. These findings suggest that TPR effectively supports students’ understanding, memory retention, and participation by integrating physical movement with verbal instruction. Therefore, TPR can be considered an engaging and suitable method for teaching vocabulary to elementary school students, particularly in rural learning environments with limited access to instructional media.
