Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of the e-Pustaka Bandung application based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), focusing on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach to explore users' subjective experiences. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings indicate that the e-Pustaka Bandung application fulfills all indicators of perceived ease of use, as users found the application easy to learn, operate, and understand, as well as flexible and accessible anytime and anywhere. In terms of perceived usefulness, the application provides benefits in accelerating information access, increasing productivity, and facilitating reference search. However, limitations in the digital collection cause the application to be not yet optimal in supporting work performance and effectiveness, particularly for academic purposes. Overall, perceived ease of use is more dominant than perceived usefulness in users’ experiences. Therefore, regular expansion and updating of the digital collection is needed to optimize the application in meeting users’ information needs.

Abstract

Background: Sundanese traditional dance is an intangible cultural heritage that carries historical memory, embodied knowledge, aesthetic values, and collective identity. In the contemporary digital environment, this heritage faces intertwined challenges: declining regeneration among young people, weak documentation practices, limited digital capacity in community-based studios, and legal vulnerability caused by incomplete intellectual property protection. Purpose: This study aims to formulate and evaluate a holistic preservation strategy for Sundanese traditional dance by integrating digital archiving, community capacity building, intellectual property protection, and cultural sustainability planning. Methods: The study employed Community Action Research with Azka Studio Dance Community in Rancaekek, Bandung Regency. Data were collected through field observation, interviews with studio managers and participants, documentation studies, training records, metadata compilation, and reflective evaluation. The intervention was organized into four connected stages: diagnosing preservation gaps, planning community-based actions, implementing digitization and legal-literacy activities, and evaluating sustainability outcomes. Results: The intervention achieved the main targeted outputs: ten dance works were documented in high-definition video and described using cultural metadata; eight young digital cadres were trained to manage documentation workflows; thirty youths participated in dance regeneration activities; twenty artists received intellectual property training; five dance works were prepared for copyright registration; and digital dissemination through social media increased public visibility. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that preservation of intangible cultural heritage requires more than recording performances. A sustainable model depends on the integration of archival standards, community participation, legal awareness, and regeneration mechanisms. For Library and Information Science, the case contributes a practical model of community-based digital cultural archiving that connects documentation, metadata, access, rights management, and long-term stewardship.

Abstract

Background: This study highlights the significance of knowledge sharing in special libraries, particularly the library of the Museum Konperensi Asia-Afrika, for preserving information and enhancing service quality. Trust has been identified as a crucial factor facilitating knowledge sharing among librarians, creating an open and collaborative work environment. Purpose:  The objective of this study is to analyze the role of trust in supporting knowledge sharing among librarians at the library of the Museum Konperensi Asia-Afrika. Methods: A qualitative case study approach, involving in-depth interviews, literature review, and document analysis. Results: The findings reveal that trust among librarians fosters openness in sharing both explicit and tacit knowledge and cultivates a collaborative work climate. Moreover, strong trust enhances librarians' motivation to share knowledge, positively impacting the quality of services provided to library users. High-quality communication, solid professional experience, proven skills, and egalitarian organizational culture all contribute to strengthening this process by fostering transparency and mutual respect. Interactions, both formal and informal, play a vital role in maintaining collaboration and resolving problems. Conclusions: This study confirms that trust is an important factor in promoting effective knowledge sharing in Museum Konperensi Asia-Afrika library. Trust between librarians facilitates effective collaboration, an open work environment, and the exchange of technical and confidential knowledge. Implications: This study concludes that trust is a fundamental element in promoting effective knowledge sharing within the MKAA Library, enabling collaborative practices and the exchange of technical as well as sensitive information. The implications of this study are twofold: practically, it suggests that library management should prioritize trust-building strategies to enhance collaboration and service quality; theoretically, it contributes to knowledge management literature by emphasizing trust as a key social dimension in knowledge sharing within special library settings.

Abstract

Using six months of participant observation (2024) and in-depth interviews with 15 community members, this research reveals three key findings. First, manuscripts are understood as animate entities with ancestral agency, requiring ritual care rather than technical conservation alone. Second, preservation activities—including transliteration workshops and ritual readings—function as cultural performances where community members actively negotiate contested meanings of "tradition," "authenticity," and "modernity." Third, significant power asymmetries based on gender and generation shape access to manuscript knowledge, with elder men monopolizing textual expertise while women and youth employ subtle forms of resistance. The study demonstrates how manuscripts function as "living archives"—sites of active cultural production rather than passive storage. In post-Suharto Indonesia, manuscript preservation serves as regional identity politics, as the sanggar uses Javanese-script texts to assert Javanese identity against Sundanese cultural hegemony. However, the sanggar faces severe structural constraints—financial precarity, institutional marginalization, and succession crisis—that threaten long-term sustainability. This study contributes to Indonesian anthropology by theorizing community heritage practices as dynamic identity formation processes embedded in power relations and neoliberal governance, where communities bear preservation responsibility without corresponding state support.

Abstract

The Balai Besar Perpustakaan dan Literasi Pertanian (BB Pustaka) holds more than 11,000 antiquarian collection titles with high historical and scientific value, making preservation policy implementation a critical institutional responsibility. This study aims to analyze the implementation of preservation policies for ancient and rare collections at BB Pustaka, examine the effectiveness of operational guidelines used, and identify managerial constraints in preservation activities based on IFLA preservation principles. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. Informants were selected using purposive sampling consisting of senior librarians, unit heads, and technical preservation staff. Data validity was tested through source triangulation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that preservation policy at BB Pustaka has a normative basis derived from Ministry of Agriculture regulations, with preservation activities prioritized on Indonesiana collections. However, the existing SOP has not been optimally utilized as a work guideline due to inadequate socialization. Preservation practices largely rely on tacit knowledge transmitted informally among librarians. A digital flipbook containing detailed technical procedures was found, but it has not been formally institutionalized as an official policy document. BB Pustaka has sufficient institutional foundations and technical capacity for preservation, but requires strengthening in procedure standardization, policy documentation, and institutionalization of preservation knowledge to ensure more consistent and sustainable collection conservation.

Abstract

This study examines the potential of ethnomedicine as cultural heritage and its contribution to sustainable tourism development in Sebelat Village, Midai Island. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved eight participants consisting of traditional healers, patients, community members, and local stakeholders selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review, and analyzed descriptively using SWOT analysis supported by IFAS and EFAS matrices. The findings reveal that the Midai community continues to practice various forms of ethnomedicine, including betetas, betangas, traditional massage, luluran, bekasai, param, bajong, kecundoi, jamu, sekapur sirih, and aek tawa, reflecting local knowledge related to health, spirituality, and the relationship between humans and the environment. These practices possess cultural, symbolic, and experiential values that support their potential development as cultural, educational, and wellness tourism attractions. The recommended development strategies include strengthening community participation, establishing healer communities, developing ethnomedicine-based tourism packages, and integrating cultural values into village tourism planning. This study concludes that ethnomedicine represents an important cultural resource that may support sustainable tourism development while contributing to cultural preservation and local economic diversification. Future research is recommended to adopt broader interdisciplinary approaches to further examine ethnomedicine within tourism and cultural heritage contexts.

Abstract

Jangjawokan is an oral literature that is still alive in the community. However, its existence is currently facing serious challenges from both internal and external factors. Although a number of studies have discussed jangjawokan as a cultural practice or ritual function, studies that comprehensively integrate aspects of linguistic form, social function, and preservation challenges are still limited. This study aims to describe the form, function, and challenges of preserving jangjawokan in Pasirbiru Village. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with an ethnolinguistic approach. In-depth interviews with informants and literature studies were the data collection techniques chosen. The results of the study show that jangjawokan can be considered oral literature because it has an unstandardized structure, word repetition, and word flexibility that is adapted to the expected benefits. The function of jangjawokan in community life is as a ritual language used in the context of daily activities, medicine, and traditional ceremonies that reflect the Sundanese community's way of life. However, the preservation of jangjawokan faces serious challenges, starting from its limited inheritance, dependence on the memories of elders, and declining interest and dominance of formal prayers among the younger generation, which could potentially lead to its disappearance. Therefore, it is important to carry out systematic inventorying (documentation, determination, data updating) as part of the preservation of jangjawokan, which is an intangible cultural heritage. AbstrakJangjawokan merupakan sastra lisan yang masih hidup dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Akan tetapi, keberadaannya saat ini mengalami tantangan serius baik dari faktor internal maupun eksternal. Meskipun sejumlah penelitian telah mengkaji jangjawokan sebagai praktik buday atau fungsi ritual, kajian yang menghubungkan aspek linguistik, fungsi sosial, dan tantangan pelestariannya secara komprehensif masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk, fungsi, dan tantangan pelestarian jangjawokan di Desa Pasirbiru. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif dengan pendekatan etnolinguistik. Wawancara mendalam dengan informan dan studi pustaka menjadi teknik pengumpulan data yang dipilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jangjawokan dapat dikatakan sebagai sastra lisan karena memiliki struktur yang tidak baku, adanya repetisi kata, serta terdapat modifikasi makna yang disesuaikan dengan manfaat yang diharapkan. Fungsi jangjawokan di kehidupan masyarakat sebagai bahasa ritual yang digunakan dalam konteks aktivitas sehari-hari, pengobatan, dan upacara adat yang merefleksikan cara pandang hidup masyarakat Sunda. Namun, pelestarian jangjawokan mengalami tantangan yang serius dimulai dari pewarisannya yang terbatas, bergantung pada ingatan sepuh, serta penurunan minat dan dominasi doa-doa formal dalam generasi muda sehingga berpotensi hilang. Oleh karena itu, penting dilakukannya inventarisasi (dokumentasi, penetapan, pemutakhiran data) secara sistematis sebagai bagian pelestarian jangjawokan yang merupakan warisan budaya takbenda.

Abstract

Museums have an important role in safeguarding cultural heritage while making cultural knowledge accessible to the public. Their contribution is not limited to caring for collections, but also includes using collections as learning resources and media for introducing cultural values. This article reviews the role of museums in cultural preservation and education based on previous studies. A qualitative literature review was conducted following Snyder’s stages, covering review planning, literature searching and selection, evaluation, and synthesis. Literature was identified through Google Scholar using the keywords “museum,” “cultural education,” and “cultural preservation,” with publications from 2016–2026 considered. The review indicates that museums support cultural preservation through collection care, management, documentation, and digitization. They also provide educational experiences through exhibitions, learning programs, workshops, and digital technologies. Nevertheless, limitations in human resources, funding, facilities, and technological capacity remain challenges. Sustainable collection management and innovation in information delivery are therefore needed to strengthen museums’ educational and preservation functions.

Abstract

Research on local wisdom in tourism has expanded rapidly, yet its global publication dynamics, intellectual structure, and thematic evolution remain insufficiently mapped. This study provides a bibliometric analysis of 673 English-language journal articles indexed in Scopus and published between 1980 and 2026. Using Bibliometrix R-Package for performance analysis and VOSviewer for keyword co-occurrence and thematic evolution mapping, the study examines publication and citation trends, leading countries, institutions, authors, and journals, as well as the conceptual structure of the field. The findings identify three phases of development: an initiation phase (1980–1999), an expansion phase (2000–2014), and a rapid growth phase (2015–2026). Research output is concentrated in a limited number of countries, particularly Indonesia, China, the United States, Australia, and Thailand, while the conceptual structure reveals five major thematic clusters linking tourism with local culture, Indigenous knowledge, sustainability, community-based tourism, and traditional ecological knowledge. Thematic evolution shows a shift from geographically grounded case studies and social change toward stronger emphasis on local wisdom, tourism villages, cultural heritage, ecosystem services, regenerative tourism, and circular economy. These trends suggest that local wisdom is increasingly positioned not merely as a cultural attribute, but as a knowledge-based foundation for sustainability-oriented, community-based, and socio-ecological tourism development. This study is limited to English-language journal articles indexed in Scopus, which may under represent relevant publications from other databases, languages, and regional publication outlets. Nonetheless, it offers a global overview of how local wisdom has been conceptualised and developed within tourism scholarship.

Abstract

Pengembangan pariwisata di Kabupaten Bandung Barat penting untuk dilakukan agar dapat bersaing dengan daerah destinasi wisata lainnya. Destinasi wisata juga memiliki dampak positif terhadap perkembangan ekonomi lingkungan sekitarnya. Gua Pawon merupakan salah satu kawasan wisata yang potensial di Bandung Barat karena memiliki atraksi alam dan nilai sejarah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang model diseminasi informasi pada kawasan Gua Pawon sebagai bentuk promosi dan pelestarian nilai sejarah. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode action research dengan pendekatan Kurt Lewin. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa media informasi yang sudah tersedia di kawasan Gua Pawon tidak dirawat dengan baik dan memiliki tingkat efektivitas yang rendah.
