Abstract

This study aims to: 1) To determine the procedural skills of students before and after being taught the experimental method assisted by a virtual laboratory; 2) To determine the procedural skills of students before after being taught without using the experimental method assisted by a virtual laboratory; 3) To determine the improvement of students' procedural skills after being taught the virtual laboratory-assisted experimental method. This type of research is a Quasi-Experiment using Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of students in class VIII of Al-Azhar 24 Makassar Islamic Junior High School consisting of 2 classes with 19 students each, the sample was selected by purposive sampling, with 2 classes, namely class VIII B as the control class and class VIII A as the experimental class. The research instrument was in the form of Procedural Skills test questions. Data collection is done by giving Pre-test and Post-test. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of descriptive statistical analysis of experimental class procedural skills had a higher score than the control class and for the results of inferential statistical analysis found that Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. H1 states that the procedural skills of Class VIII students of Al-Azhar 24 Islamic Junior High School in Makassar who are taught using experimental methods assisted by virtual laboratories are higher than students who are taught without using experimental methods assisted by virtual laboratories. So it can be concluded that the experimental method assisted by a virtual laboratory has an effect on the procedural skills of class VIII students of Al-Azhar 24 Makassar Islamic Junior High School.

Abstract

This study aims to determine 1) the level of creative thinking ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. 2) the level of learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. 3) the relationship between the ability to think creatively and the learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. The type of research used is survey research using a correlational design. The population in this study were class VIII students at SMP Negeri 26 Makassar for the academic year 2022/2023, totaling 250 students. Samples were taken using the slovin formula with simple random sampling technique of 71 students. The instrument used in this study was a creative thinking ability test instrument in the form of an essay consisting of 10 questions, and existing learning outcome scores given by science subject educators at the school. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of descriptive statistical analysis show that the level of creative thinking ability is in the moderately creative category with a value of 41,48 and learning outcomes are in the moderate category with a value of 52,00. The results of the inferential analysis show that there is a relationship between creative thinking abilities and learning outcomes with a Pearson Correlation of 0.57 which indicates that there is a moderate relationship.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of science literacy ability in aspects of context, competence and knowledge of grade VIII students of A-accredited junior high school in Mamajang sub-district in terms of gender. The sample selected used the Slovin formula so that the sample in this study was 303 students. The research instrument consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that science literacy in the aspects of context, competence, and knowledge of grade VIII students of A-accredited junior high schools in Mamajang sub-district in terms of gender, namely in the context aspect and competency aspects of female students has a higher percentage compared to male students, but in the aspect of knowledge male students have a higher percentage compared to female students. The average score in female students is 13 with the medium category, in male students it has a score of 11 with the low category, this shows that female students have better science literacy skills than male didk participants, although in the aspect of knowledge and male students have a higher percentage.

Abstract

Evaluating learning outcomes across different class types remains a critical yet underexplored issue in Indonesian higher education, particularly in science teacher preparation programs where pedagogical equity is essential. This study evaluates student learning outcomes in the Child Development (PPD) course using the case study learning method at the Science Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Makassar, during the Even Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026. A descriptive-quantitative approach with comparative case study design was employed. Research subjects consisted of 98 students across three classes: ICP Class (n=29), Regular Class A (n=36), and Regular Class B (n=33). Analysis encompassed descriptive statistics (mean, median, SD, skewness, kurtosis, 95% CI), Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, One-Way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis as non-parametric alternative, and Mann-Whitney post-hoc tests with Bonferroni correction. Descriptive results showed mean scores of 87.79 (SD=6.59) for ICP, 87.17 (SD=4.87) for Regular A, and 88.09 (SD=3.47) for Regular B. Shapiro-Wilk test indicated non-normal distributions across all classes (p<.001), warranting Kruskal-Wallis as the primary test, which revealed no significant inter-class differences (H=1.039, p=.595). This was corroborated by One-Way ANOVA (F(2,95)=0.301, p=.741, η²=.006), indicating a trivial effect size. Mann-Whitney post-hoc comparisons with Bonferroni correction found no significant pairwise differences (all p>.017). These findings imply that case study method implementation in PPD produced equivalent and consistent learning outcomes across all three classes, with a classical completion rate of 98.0% (grade ≥B+).
