Abstract

This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group involving 56 fifth-grade students from two public elementary schools in Blitar Regency, Indonesia. The experimental group (n = 28) learned through a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based e-module developed with the Heyzine Flipbook platform, while the control group (n = 28) used government textbooks. Cluster sampling selected intact classes. The intervention lasted eight meetings on magnetic force and motion. Pre- and post-tests measured critical thinking skills. The e-module followed six PjBL stages and integrated multimedia elements (animations, videos, simulations, quizzes). Instruments included a critical thinking test, a 25-item motivation questionnaire, and observation sheets. All instruments were expert-validated with strong reliability (Cronbach’s α > 0.80). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, and two-way ANOVA at a 0.05 significance level.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate an interactive local wisdom based e-book integrated with the Environment Augmented Reality Learning System (EARLS) to support tolerance-oriented learning among elementary school students. EARLS is conceptualized as a pedagogical framework combining contextual cultural narratives, augmented reality based visualizations, reflective tasks, and collaborative learning activities to foster respect for diversity and cooperative behavior. A research and development approach based on the Lee and Owens model was employed, involving 17 fifth-grade students in a public elementary school in Indonesia during the field implementation phase. Tolerance was assessed through structured classroom observations, students’ performance on learning tasks, and pretest–posttest outcomes related to tolerance concepts. The findings indicate that the e-book demonstrates high feasibility and practicality, with moderate effectiveness reflected in improved student engagement and tolerance-related understanding. Beyond product validation, this study contributes theoretically by operationalizing EARLS as a culturally grounded augmented reality framework for character education, providing empirical insight into how local wisdom–based digital media can support tolerance development in primary education. However, results should be interpreted cautiously due to the small sample size and the one-group pretest–posttest design, which may limit generalizability. Future research involving larger samples and comparative designs is recommended to examine the broader applicability of EARLS-based local wisdom digital learning.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has driven the adoption of innovative learning media in elementary education, including Augmented Reality (AR). Although AR has been widely recognized for enhancing learning engagement and conceptual understanding, its integration with local wisdom and character education particularly tolerance remains limited in the Indonesian elementary school context. This study aims to systematically map research trends on the use of AR in elementary education that integrates local wisdom and tolerance values, as well as to identify existing research gaps that may inform future learning media development, especially those grounded in Panji Malang local wisdom. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol. Through four stages of elimination, 32 empirical research articles published between 2016 and 2025 were selected. Data were analyzed using content analysis and bibliometric mapping with VOSviewer to identify publication trends, research methods, and thematic clusters. The findings indicate a growing interest in AR-based learning since 2022, with most studies focusing on technological development and learning effectiveness. However, the explicit integration of tolerance as an affective learning objective remains limited. Bibliometric analysis reveals three dominant clusters: technology-based learning, local wisdom and cultural values, and elementary school learning contexts. Overall, AR demonstrates strong potential as a medium for integrating local wisdom and tolerance values, though challenges related to teacher readiness, infrastructure, and long-term impact evaluation persist.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this review article was to understand the application of metacognitive strategies in science education as well as identify the syntax of these strategies and their impact on the studied variable. The method used was called a systematic literature review (SLR), and it consisted of three steps: planning, carrying out, and reporting. The process of searching and filtering articles was carried out using the PRISMA method in electronic journals. Sixteen articles were relevant to the research goal and were published in twelve journals (Scopus). The results of the study indicated that students were most often used as research subjects in metacognitive strategy research. Most articles on metacognitive strategy in science learning were published in 2019, and quasi-experimental research designs were most frequently used. Chemistry is the scientific discipline that uses this strategy the most. The main metacognitive strategy syntax had three stages: planning, implementing learning, monitoring, and evaluating. The most researched metacognitive strategy has an influence on improving student learning outcomes. Therefore, metacognitive strategies could be a choice for teachers in schools to improve student learning outcomes in science. Metacognitive strategies still have great opportunities to be developed and applied in science learning in the future.

Abstract

This study airms to examine differences in understunding the concept of magnets and arguments about magnets at different grade levels. This type of research is survey research. The research subjects consisted of 188 students spread across different grade levels and school in the city of Kupang, namely class VI of elementary school, class VII of junior high school and class IX of junior high school. The method used is the ex post facto method using test instrumens and interview. The data analysis used is the difference test and correlation test. The conclusion obtained after carrying out the research proces and data testing is that there are differences in understanding of the concept of magnets between class VI students who are currently learning about magnets in class VI, class IX students who are currently studying magnets and have studeied magnets in class VI. There are differences in the level of magneic argumentation between class VI students who are currently learning about magnets, class VII students who have studied magnets in class VI and grade IX students who are currently studying magnets and have stidied magnets in grade VI.  There is no correlation between understunding of the concept and level of argumentation of magnetic material in class VI elementary school students and class VII students of junior high school.
