Abstract

This article examines the educational leadership of Rahmah El Yunusiyah in colonial Indonesia, with particular attention to her contribution to Muslim women’s education in Southeast Asia. Using a historical qualitative method based on published historical studies, documentary sources, and interpretive analysis, the study explores how Rahmah El Yunusiyah developed Diniyah Puteri as an alternative educational institution for girls under colonial rule. The findings show that her leadership was expressed through three main strategies: building an institution outside colonial educational priorities, legitimizing women’s education through Islamic values, and combining religious instruction with modern pedagogical practices. These strategies enabled Rahmah not only to challenge colonial and patriarchal restrictions at the local level, but also to offer a model of Muslim women’s education that gained wider recognition in the Malay-Indonesian world. Her contribution to Southeast Asia lies in demonstrating that Islamic schooling for girls could become a legitimate space for women’s intellectual formation, social participation, and leadership development. The study argues that Rahmah El Yunusiyah represents a non-Western model of educational leadership rooted in faith, social reform, and women’s empowerment. This case contributes to broader discussions on women’s leadership, Islamic education, and the history of education in colonial Asia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of an integrative curriculum at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Bandar Lampung, which combines the Salafiyyah Curriculum, KMI Gontor Curriculum, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs Curriculum into a unified educational system. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, where data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and then analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that at the planning stage, curriculum integration remains partial and is not yet supported by a comprehensive conceptual design. At the implementation stage, the curriculum has been applied simultaneously within a boarding school system; however, it results in a high learning burden and suboptimal synchronization of learning materials. Meanwhile, at the evaluation stage, assessment systems are still conducted separately, thus failing to measure learning outcomes holistically. These findings highlight that the success of an integrative curriculum is strongly determined by the systemic coherence of curriculum management functions, including planning, implementation, and evaluation. The implications of this study suggest the need to develop a structured integrative curriculum management model through strengthening coordination among stakeholders, organizing a proportional learning load, and developing an integrated evaluation system to enhance the quality of Islamic boarding school education sustainably.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged educational institutions to utilize online-based systems in the student admission process. The implementation of online recruitment is expected to improve the effectiveness of student admissions through easier access, wider dissemination of information, and more efficient administrative management. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of online recruitment in attracting qualified student candidates at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Hikmah Bandar Lampung. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the admission committee, new students, and parents. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The results indicate that online recruitment increases the number of applicants, accelerates administrative processes, and improves cost efficiency through the use of digital media. However, the quality of applicants is still determined through a selection process based on the academic and religious standards established by the madrasah.

Abstract

Inclusive education in Indonesia continues to face implementation gaps, especially in teacher capacity, accessibility, and stakeholder participation. This study evaluated the management of an inclusive education program in an anonymized elementary school in Metro City, Lampung Province, using the Context–Input–Process–Product (CIPP) model. A qualitative evaluative case study was conducted over approximately four weeks, drawing on classroom and school observations (around six sessions across three grade levels), semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders (n≈12), and document analysis (planning, budgeting, curriculum, supervision, and student learning records). Contextual conditions were supportive, reflected in community demand for non-discriminatory access, policy alignment, and a peer-supportive school culture. Inputs were partly adequate: teachers showed strong commitment and used the flexibility of the Merdeka Curriculum, but technical capacity for adaptive assessment and individualized planning varied, while accessibility features and specialized learning supports remained limited. Implementation was generally consistent through differentiated, child-friendly instruction, peer-support routines, and reflective supervision, although time constraints and uneven family engagement reduced the consistency of individualized support. Outcomes were most evident in socio-emotional development and participation; academic progress was reported but not consistently documented across classes. Strengthening routine individualized planning and progress monitoring, focused technical development for teachers, and more stable resourcing and partnerships are needed to sustain improvements.

Abstract

Managing educational financing in private schools is a strategic aspect of ensuring institutional sustainability and the quality of educational services. The complexity of relatively autonomous funding structures requires financial governance that is transparent, accountable, and sustainability-oriented. This article analyzes concepts, models, and practices of financing management in private Junior High Schools using a Systematic Literature Review approach. The reviewed literature is limited to publications from the last ten years and is analyzed through content analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and research gaps. The review indicates a shift from an administrative approach toward a strategic, school-governance-based approach that integrates program planning with budgeting, internal oversight, and stakeholder participation. The effectiveness of financing management is influenced by needs-based planning, diversification of funding sources, digitization of reporting systems, and the principal’s managerial capacity. The main challenges include dependence on student fees and limited human resources for financial administrative management. Therefore, financing management in private junior high schools should be positioned as a strategic instrument to support organizational stability and the continuous improvement of educational quality.

Abstract

School leadership plays a crucial role in determining policy direction, organizational culture, and the quality of education in schools. In the context of educational organizations, transformational leadership is seen as capable of enhancing work motivation and strengthening teachers' organizational commitment, thereby improving their performance in carrying out their professional duties. This study aims to synthesize various research findings regarding the impact of transformational leadership on teacher performance through work motivation and organizational commitment. The review was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with Barbara Kitchenham's model, which includes three stages: planning, conducting, and reporting. A total of 10 research articles were analyzed using a descriptive-thematic approach to identify patterns, relationships between variables, and the theoretical and practical contributions of previous studies. The synthesis results show that transformational leadership plays an important role in improving teacher performance both directly and through the enhancement of work motivation and organizational commitment. The effectiveness of transformational leadership is also influenced by a supportive work environment and organizational support in developing teachers' professionalism. Thus, school leaders need to apply transformational leadership styles that can foster teachers' motivation and commitment, creating a productive, professional, and quality-oriented work environment.

Abstract

Educational quality in Islamic schools is profoundly shaped by teacher professionalism, where discipline and loyalty serve as critical human resource drivers. Despite their theoretical linkage, empirical gaps persist regarding how these constructs interact to sustain instructional excellence. This study employs a qualitative thematic systematic literature review to synthesize peer-reviewed publications (2015–2024) examining teacher discipline, loyalty, and educational quality in Islamic contexts. Thematic synthesis reveals that discipline functions as a structural prerequisite for organizational stability, while loyalty operates as a psychological and professional commitment that sustains instructional continuity. The analysis demonstrates a synergistic relationship: internalized discipline fosters role clarity and procedural consistency, which, when mediated by fair leadership and value alignment, cultivates productive loyalty. This loyalty subsequently drives teacher retention, collaborative innovation, and student learning outcomes. The review underscores that disciplinary mechanisms rooted solely in administrative compliance are insufficient; sustainable educational quality requires integrating internalized professionalism, participatory governance, and Islamic ethical values into school management. These findings offer theoretical clarification on the discipline, loyalty, quality nexus and provide actionable insights for administrators designing policies that balance accountability, professional autonomy, and institutional commitment.
