Abstract

This article examines the management of the Islamic education curriculum in madrasahs and its alignment with the demands of the labor market. It highlights the challenges faced by madrasahs in Indonesia, including resource limitations, insufficient teacher training, and inadequate infrastructure, which hinder the development of curricula that meet workforce needs. While national educational policies like the Merdeka Curriculum provide flexibility, madrasahs must make significant adjustments to enhance the relevance of their offerings. This study recommends the regular updating of teaching materials, the enhancement of teacher skills through professional development, and the creation of partnerships with industries to ensure curricula remain aligned with labor market demands. The paper further advocates for competency-based education, stakeholder collaboration, and the integration of lifelong learning principles to prepare students for an evolving job market. Additionally, the study proposes future research directions, including longitudinal studies tracking the career trajectories of madrasah graduates, implementation studies on curriculum management, and comparative studies across different regions. Ultimately, this research provides actionable recommendations to improve the alignment of Islamic education curricula in madrasahs with labor market needs.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) play a pivotal role in Islamic education, requiring sound and Sharia-compliant financial management to ensure institutional sustainability. Nevertheless, prior studies on pesantren financial governance remain fragmented and largely descriptive, providing limited integrative insight into Sharia-oriented managerial frameworks. This study aims to systematically review and synthesize existing literature on Sharia-based financial management in pesantren by identifying dominant principles, management components, implementation models, and governance challenges. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), peer-reviewed articles were retrieved from reputable academic databases using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and analyzed through thematic synthesis. The results indicate that Sharia-oriented financial management in pesantren is consistently grounded in the principles of amanah (accountability), shafafiyyah (transparency), ‘adl (justice), and Islamic ethical compliance. Core components include financial planning and budgeting, fund mobilization, Sharia-based financial reporting, and internal control mechanisms. However, recurring challenges persist, notably limited managerial competence, weak financial standardization, and insufficient integration of Sharia accounting frameworks. This study contributes theoretically by developing an integrative conceptual map of Sharia-oriented financial governance in pesantren, addressing gaps in prior isolated studies. Practically, the findings inform pesantren leaders and policymakers in designing standardized financial systems, capacity-building programs, and regulatory frameworks to strengthen Sharia-compliant financial governance.

Abstract

Education is the key to progress and a challenge for every country, especially for developing countries like Indonesia. The problem of education quality in Indonesia can be seen from the low achievement of madrasahs and the results of the 2022 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluation. This research aims to explore the variables that influence the performance of educators in Bandar Lampung, with a focus on the leadership of madrasah heads, cooperation, welfare, motivation, personality competence, and work ethic of educators. This research uses a qualitative approach with exploratory and causal methods to identify and analyze the relationship between these variables. Data was collected through surveys and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of the research show that partially and simultaneously, the leadership of the madrasa head, cooperation, welfare, motivation, personality competence and work ethic have a significant effect on the performance of educators. Educator competency is the most dominant variable influencing educator performance. This research underlines the importance of good management of human resources in education to improve the quality of education. Recommendations are given to improve the performance of educators through improving leadership management, collaboration between educators, increasing welfare, motivation, as well as developing the competence and work ethic of educators.

Abstract

Inclusive education management aims to ensure equitable access to learning for all students, including those with special needs. Despite broad policy support, implementation remains uneven across contexts, including Indonesia. Common barriers include constrained resources, insufficient teacher preparation, cultural resistance, and high teacher workloads. This study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) to synthesize recent evidence on practices, challenges, and solutions. The analysis identifies effective practices such as comprehensive teacher professional development, provision of disability-friendly facilities, and sustained collaboration among schools, families, and communities. Persistent constraints include budget limitations, inadequate psychosocial support, and social stigma that hinders the inclusion of students with special needs in mainstream classrooms. To organize actionable responses, the review integrates management perspectives from Total Quality Management, distributed leadership, and change theory, providing a structured pathway for improvement. Based on these insights, the paper recommends strengthening inclusive education policies, leveraging educational technologies, and implementing public awareness initiatives to build acceptance. Overall, the findings highlight the need for coordinated, long-term commitments by governments, schools, and communities to achieve a fair and inclusive education system.

Abstract

Islamic school financial management plays a crucial role in ensuring the achievement of educational goals through effective, transparent, and sharia-compliant resource management. This article aims to review the application of a systems approach to Islamic school financial management using a literature review. Data were obtained through analysis of various sources, such as books, scientific journals, research reports, and official documents related to Islamic educational financial management. The study results indicate that implementing a systems approach helps schools develop integrated financial planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, thereby increasing accountability and efficiency. However, the study also identified several challenges, such as limited human resources, suboptimal technology utilization, and low transparency in financial reporting. Therefore, strategies are needed to increase effectiveness through management digitization, human resource capacity building, and strengthening sharia-based governance. Abstract

Effective school leadership is central to the development of teacher professionalism and organizational discipline, yet qualitative evidence from Islamic secondary schools remains limited. This study investigated how school leadership strengthened teacher work discipline at MTs Negeri 2 Pesawaran, Indonesia. The study used a qualitative descriptive field design and drew on semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. The revised manuscript reports a purposive sample consisting of the madrasah head, the vice principal for curriculum, and teachers who were directly involved in daily instructional management. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with credibility supported by source and technique triangulation. The findings converged on three interrelated leadership pathways. First, the madrasah head directed teachers through clear attendance regulations, supervisory routines, duty allocation, and regular coordination meetings. Second, leadership was enacted through mentoring practices, including evaluation meetings, performance agreements, professional guidance, and collaborative problem solving. Third, the madrasah head functioned as an exemplary role model by demonstrating punctuality, open communication, recognition of teacher achievements, and active participation in school programs. Collectively, these practices strengthened punctuality, accountability, professional commitment, and a collaborative school culture. The study suggests that leadership in madrasah settings is most effective when administrative control is combined with ethical example, participatory communication, and sustained professional support. These findings contribute context-specific insight into how leadership mechanisms shape work discipline in Islamic educational institutions and provide practical direction for school leaders seeking to reinforce teacher accountability in comparable settings.
