Abstract

Abstract This study stems from the rise of online gambling promotion through social media and digital platforms as a means of disseminating gambling-related content. Abstract

Abstract This study examines identity fraud using a romance scam modus operandi on social media from the perspectives of criminal law and Islamic criminal law. The phenomenon is increasingly prevalent alongside digital technological advances that enable perpetrators to manipulate identities for emotional or financial gain. The research aims to analyze Indonesia’s positive law regulations regarding identity fraud through online romance scams, explore the Islamic criminal law perspective on such acts, and evaluate the effectiveness of law enforcement within the jurisdiction of the Jambi Regional Police. A qualitative method was employed using normative and empirical juridical approaches through literature studies, interviews with the Special Crime Directorate officers (Ditreskrimsus Polda Jambi), and a comparative analysis between positive law and Islamic criminal law. The findings reveal that identity fraud through romance scams is regulated under Article 378 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and Article 28 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph (1) of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law as an electronic-based fraud offense. However, its legal enforcement faces challenges such as digital evidence verification, tracking limitations, and cross-border jurisdiction issues. In Islamic criminal law, this act is classified as jarīmah ta‘zīr, a reprehensible act subject to discretionary punishment by the judge to uphold public welfare. Keywords: Identity Fraud, Romance Scam, Social Media, Criminal Law, Islamic Criminal Law.

Abstract

Athletics education, especially in relay running at Santa Theresia Junior High School, faces problems of low student interest and technical mastery. This condition is caused by monotonous teaching methods that lack interaction and cooperation among students. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model in improving the relay running skills of eighth-grade students. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 46 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through relay running skill tests in the pretest and posttest phases, then analyzed using a paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS version 27 software. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in the average score, from 47.61 to 81.74, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings indicate that the application of the TGT model effectively improves mastery of basic techniques, speed, and coordination in relay running. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the TGT type of cooperative learning model has a positive and significant effect on students' relay running abilities, while also increasing active involvement, teamwork, and learning motivation in the Physical Education, Sports, and Health learning process.

Abstract

Abstract

From the perspective of criminal liability theory, criminal policy, and Islamic law, sexual gratification is a form of corruption. According to positive criminal law, a person can only be held liable when three essential elements are fulfilled: an unlawful act, culpability (dolus or culpa), and the capacity for responsibility. However, in the context of public office, sexual gratification constitutes an unlawful act because it involves the acceptance of non-fina. Since the acceptance of sexual services within a power relationship usually indicates awareness of reciprocal policy gains, purpose (dolus) is frequently dominating. From the perspective of criminal policy, the restriction of sexual gratification reflects the growth of corruption as a white collar crime—a term coined by Edwin H. Sutherland—where abuse of power encompasses intangible rewards in addition to monetary transfers. According to Islamic law, sexual enjoyment constitutes two violations: it may be considered risywah (bribery) because of its transactional motive, and it may also be considered jarimah zina if it takes place outside of a legally recognized marriage. Such behaviors compromise the protection of property, ancestry, and religion through the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah developed by Abu Ishaq al-Shatibi in Al-Muwafaqat. The study comes to the conclusion that in order to guarantee accountability, protect public integrity, and promote social welfare, it is imperative to develop legal interpretation and evidential procedures.

Abstract

Illegal street racing is a persistent issue in Indonesia, including Bungo Regency, endangering road users and violating traffic laws. This study, based on a case study at the Traffic Unit of Bungo Police Resort, aims to explore the police's role in addressing illegal street racing from an Islamic criminal law perspective. Using a qualitative juridical-empirical approach, the study examines legal regulations, institutional practices, and Islamic jurisprudence. Data was gathered from legal sources and literature related to law enforcement and Islamic criminal law. The results reveal that the police play a strategic role in combating street racing through preventative, preemptive, and repressive tactics. Repressive measures include law enforcement based on the Indonesian Traffic and Road Transportation Law, while preventive actions involve community outreach, traffic education, and regular patrols. From an Islamic criminal law viewpoint, illegal street racing is categorized as jarimah ta‘zīr, where authorities impose sanctions to maintain public order and prevent harm (mafsadah), aligning with the maqasid al-shariah goals of preserving property and life. The study concludes that effective and sustainable action against street racing requires collaboration between law enforcement, communities, and religious perspectives.

Abstract

Background: The use of smartphone applications (SA) before deep learning (DL) is currently showing an increase in popularity in the context of physical education (PE) teaching, but the effects smartphone applications within deep learning (SADL) on physical activity enjoyment (PAE) and physical fitness (PF) are still unclear. Objectives: Our current study aims to analyse the effects of SADL on PAE and PF among students with disabilities. Methods: This study adopted an experimental design with a 10-week pretest-posttest design. We involved 40 participants with disabilities from two schools in Karawang (Indonesia). They were allocated to the SADL (n = 20) and control group (CG, n = 20). PAE and PF assessments were conducted twice, at the pretest and posttest stages. Results: Our main findings prove that there was no difference in PAE and PF scores between the SADL and CG at the pretest stage, but we found different results at the posttest stage, which showed that there was a difference in PAE and PF scores between the SADL and CG. Conclusion: The findings suggest that integrating smartphone applications within a deep learning framework may enhance physical activity enjoyment and selected components of physical fitness among students with disabilities.

Abstract

This study explores the rising trend of instant gratification among children and emphasizes the importance of strengthening character education grounded in local wisdom values to enhance self-control. Using a quantitative survey approach, data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires and subsequently analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach via the SmartPLS software 4. The research findings indicated that the internalization of character education grounded in local wisdom had a positive and significant effect on children’s self-control, while self-control negatively impacts instant gratification behavior. However, no direct significant relationship was found between character education and instant gratification. Mediation analysis confirms that self-control significantly mediates this relationship. These findings suggest that enhancing local wisdom–based character education can improve children’s self-control and reduce the tendency toward instant gratification, promoting more adaptive, long-term–oriented behaviors.
