Abstract

EnglishThe level of corn productivity during the 2008-2018 period experienced sloping growth. From various previous research results, it is known that the use of corn production inputs is not optimal. This study aims to analyze changes in technical efficiency of corn farming and the factors that influence it on the dry land agroecosystem. The data used is National Farmer Panel data (Patanas) in 2008 and 2017 sourced from Indonesian Center for Agricultural Socio Economics and Policy Studies (ICASEPS), Ministry of Agriculture. The analytical method used are the stochastic frontier production function with the Time-Varying Decay (TVD) model, and the random-effects tobit model. The results of the analysis show that the average level of technical efficiency of corn farming reaches 70.27 percent. There was an increase in the score of technical efficiency in 2017 compared to 2008. Factors influencing this increase were the age and level of education of family heads, the share of corn farming income, and the status of land ownership. It is recommended to the government to increase the use of dry land for food crop businesses and ensure the availability of hybrid corn seeds at an affordable price.

Abstract

EnglishFood issue, including food security issue, is a part of agriculture concern. One way to overcome the problems of food is to diversify household food consumption. How household decide their food consumption is depending on their food share allocation pattern and food demand. Objectives of this research are (1) to analyze household food share allocation pattern in West Java Province, and (2) to analyze household food demand in West Java Province. This research used secondary data, i.e. Susenas (National Socio-Economic Survey) in 2015. The study found that household income is still low. Most urban households consume cooked food and beverages, while most rural households consume grains. Changes in income and food prices will not significantly affect the household's demand for food because almost of all variables are basic commodities (inelastic goods) for households in West Java Province.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of digital technology and a pandemic have increased online transactions on digital platforms. The most widely used digital platforms for online transactions in Indonesia are Shopee, Tokopedia, and Bukalapak. Digital platforms will become essential actors in the agribusiness system in the future. Fresh agricultural products marketed on digital platforms are included in the fruit and vegetable category. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the total sales of fruits and vegetables on the digital platforms. The method used in this research is panel data regression. The results show that the effect is positive and negative based on types of products. The number of reviews through digital platforms influences significantly on total fruit and vegetable sales. However, the price does not influence significantly on total sales. Meanwhile, other factors include rating, store type, and promotion provide results of varying significance by commodity. Because review is the most important factor that affect total sales in digital platforms, seller needs to focus on how to control reviews in each digital platform. The understanding can help the seller to increase their total sales. Keywords: digital farmer, e-commerce, marketing, marketplace, robust least squares

Abstract

Coffee is one of the plantation commodities that has an important role in Indonesia's economic activities. As one of the leading commodities in the plantation sub-sector, coffee still faces various challenges in international trade. The high level of competition between exporting countries encourages Indonesia to be able to improve the quality and productivity of coffee in order to compete in the international market, so this study was conducted to analyze the competitiveness and potential of the Indonesian coffee export market. This research was conducted on coffee commodities (HS 090111) using time series (2006 – 2020) and cross section 10 Indonesian coffee export destinations. This research uses RCA, EPD, and X-Model Potential Export. The results of the RCA analysis show that Indonesian coffee has comparative competitiveness in the export market, while the results of the EPD analysis show that Indonesian coffee is competitively competitive in all export markets, except for the Japanese market. Indonesian coffee exports in the Japanese market are in retreat. Further analysis with X-Model concludes that Indonesian coffee has the potential to develop an optimistic export market for the markets of Belgium, Italy, Malaysia, Egypt, and the Russian Federation, potentially to the United States, India, Germany, and United Kingdom markets. The Indonesian government is expected to encourage the development of coffee exports to the markets of Belgium, Italy, Malaysia, Egypt, and the Russian Federation as top priority destinations and the United States, India, Germany, and United Kingdom markets as potential export destination groups.

Abstract

The shrimp commodity greatly contributes to the total export value of the fisheries sub-sector in Indonesia. In 2021 Indonesia was ranked 4th as the world's largest frozen shrimp exporting country. However, the export value of this commodity still fluctuates every year, and there are still various obstacles to the NTM policy. This study aims to analyze the performance of Indonesian frozen shrimp trade in destination markets, the application of NTM policies to trade in Indonesian frozen shrimp commodities in destination markets, and the impact of NTM policies and other factors on Indonesian shrimp exports in destination markets. This study uses an inventory approach and a gravity model. The results of the study show that the performance of Indonesia's frozen shrimp export trade has a positive trend in the 2007-2021 period. The highest growth in Indonesia's frozen shrimp exports occurred in 2014, 29.59 per cent. China has the highest implementation of NTM policies in the form of SPS and TBT, with a total of 69 policies that have an impact on Indonesian shrimp exports. The results of the estimation of the impact of NTM and other influencing factors using the gravity model show that the exchange rate and population positively affect the export volume of Indonesian frozen shrimp. In contrast, the NTM policy imposed by the importing country does not significantly affect the export volume of Indonesian frozen shrimp.
