Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate strategies for the utilisation of nano technology-based ablution water waste in integrated farming systems comprising catfish, tilapia, gourami, iridescent shark, and water spinach. Utilising an interdisciplinary approach, this study not only examines the effectiveness of water treatment technology, but also seeks to empower pesantren human resources to achieve technical and economic independence. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of nanotechnology-based water treatment technology, the utilisation of the results for productive cultivation, and the empowerment of human resources in the Islamic boarding school community. This research was conducted at the As-Salafiyyah Asy-Syafi'iyyah Tambakberas Barat Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, from August to October 2025. The findings of the study demonstrate that the integration of electrocoagulation, zeolite-based nanofiltration, and ozonation technologies is efficacious in enhancing the quality of ablution wastewater. This assertion is substantiated by a substantial decline in pollutant parameters, specifically: The BOD decreased from 78 mg/L to 24 mg/L, with an efficiency of 69.2%, the COD decreased from 39 mg/L to 17 mg/L, with an efficiency of 56.4%, and the TSS decreased from 76 mg/L to 25 mg/L, with an efficiency of 67.1%. The utilisation of treated water as a cultivation medium yielded favourable outcomes, manifesting in the accelerated growth of water spinach plants. A notable augmentation in plant length was observed, escalating from 10.2 centimetres at seven days post-planting to 39.8 centimetres at 28 days after planting. Concurrently, the number of leaves increased from 9 at 7 days after planting to 38 leaves at 28 days after planting. Furthermore, the fresh weight of the plants exhibited a substantial increase, rising from 3 grams at seven days after planting to 37 grams at 28 days after planting. Furthermore, treated water has been demonstrated to support the growth of various fish species, including patin, tilapia, gurami, and catfish. The fastest growth was exhibited by tilapia and catfish, reaching 27 g and 18 g at 28 days after planting, respectively, with a final length of 14.83 cm and 13.25 cm, respectively. The present study will examine the level of technology acceptance among Islamic boarding schools. Keywords: Nanotechnology, Ablution Wastewater, Aquaculture, Hydroponics, Islamic Boarding School

Abstract

Water clover (Marsilea crenata) is one of the herbal plants that has been using in alternative medicine. It possesses pharmacologically active compounds like flavonoid, which has cellular activities such as antioxidant and estrogenic activity. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of water clover ethanol extract (WCE) at different concentrations on the growth of follicles and oocytes based on follicles and oocytes diameter, respectively, after six days of culture. This experimental study used 24 isolated antral follicles (2.5-3.2 mm), which were randomly divided into four groups including control (without supplemented WCE) and experimental groups that supplemented with different concentrations of WCE (21.6, 43.2, and 86.4 µg ml-1) in culture medium for six days culture. The diameter of follicles was measured on days 0, 3, and 6. Additionally, oocytes diameter was also measured on day 6. The results indicate that the mean diameter of antral follicles and oocyte diameter of WCE 43.2 µg ml-1 was significantly increase compared to the other groups (P≤0.05). According to our results, WCE exerts its effect on the growth of the antral follicle and oocyte based on follicles and oocytes diameter respectively in a dose-dependent manner after six days of the antral follicle cultured.  Keywords: antral follicle, flavonoid, in vitro, oocyte, water clover.

Abstract

The Porong River is one of the rivers that faces high anthropogenic impacts, such as surfactant waste from detergents. The hematology of Javanese carp (Barbonymus gonionotus) serves as a sentinel organism that can be used as a biomarker for the waters of the Porong River. The aim of this study is to analyze the water quality status of the Porong River polluted with surfactants using the STORET method, as well as its impact on the hematology of Javanese carp using regression and correlation analysis. The research employed a descriptive survey method. The results of the study indicated that the Porong River was categorized as moderately polluted. The average highest surfactant concentration reached 7.2 mg/L, leading to an increase in TSS to 107.95 mg/L and a decrease in DO to 1.80 mg/L. Surfactants exhibited a negative correlation with erythrocytes (91.2%), hematocrit (47.7%), and hemoglobin (60.6%), indicating that the higher the surfactant concentration, the lower the number of erythrocytes, hematocrit levels, and hemoglobin levels in Javanese carp. Conversely, there was a positive correlation between surfactants and leukocytes (56.7%) and blood glucose (66.7%), suggesting that the higher the surfactant concentration, the higher the number of leukocytes and blood glucose levels in Javanese carp.

Abstract

Marine conservation areas in small island environments require compatibility between management zoning and local physical oceanographic conditions to function effectively and sustainably. Gili Ketapang, located in the Madura Strait, has been designated as a Marine Conservation Area under the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries No. 64/KEPMEN-KP/2020. However, evaluations of zoning suitability based on physical oceanographic characteristics remain limited. This study aims to assess the suitability of zoning within the Gili Ketapang Marine Conservation Area using key physical oceanographic parameters, including currents, waves, tides, and wind. Tidal analysis was conducted using the Admiralty method to determine tidal type and sea level characteristics. Wave and current data were obtained from Copernicus Marine Reanalysis with a 3-hour temporal resolution over a ten-year period, while wind data were used to support seasonal analysis. Zoning suitability was evaluated by comparing the analyzed oceanographic conditions with relevant criteria for coastal and marine utilization. The results indicate that the waters of Gili Ketapang are characterized by a mixed, mainly semidiurnal tidal regime, with a Formzahl value of 1.3. Seasonal variability in currents and wave conditions reveals periods that are less favorable for utilization activities in certain sub-zones, particularly within the Aquaculture Sub-Zone. These findings suggest that zoning suitability is dynamic and strongly influenced by seasonal oceanographic variability. This study highlights the importance of integrating long-term physical oceanographic analysis into the evaluation and management of marine conservation zoning, especially in small island environments with high hydrodynamic dynamics.

Abstract

The waste production is expected to continue to increase every year in proportion to the increasing population of Manado City. The influential role of women when combined with waste problems ranging from preventing waste generation to processing it is considered capable of realizing the SDGs points mentioned above. The purpose of this study is to analyze the leadership style of female culinary entrepreneurs in Manado City, to analyze waste management regulations, especially culinary waste in Manado City, and to formulate a food waste management model through the leadership of female culinary entrepreneurs in Manado City . The results of the study show that the leadership style of women in some female entrepreneurs is responsible, always directing, thinking with a cool head, fair, always discussing problems faced by employees, wise, firm, trying to give employees motivation and examples (becoming a role model). Progress in waste management is in the form of decentralized waste management, in which waste management is separated for each sub-district, so there are 11 sub-districts. In its management, it still prioritizes the 3R principles (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle). Strategies that can be carried out to make residents participate in waste management are forced waste sorting programs, improving quality or increasing the number of 3R TPSTs with good management, simple composting programs at business locations or household locations and realizing socialization programs to culinary entrepreneurs that in order to be able to run a business, if it violates it, sanctions can be given or its business license revoked.
