Abstract

Abstract

Hair issues, such as hair loss and dandruff, pose significant challenges in hair care. Patchouli oil, rich in bioactive components, has emerged as a promising candidate for addressing these concerns. The aim of this study was to investigate the hybrid functionality of fractionated patchouli oil in hair care formulations designed to promote hair growth and control dandruff caused by Malassezia globosa. Crude patchouli oil (CPO) was fractionated to enhance its efficacy, producing light fraction patchouli oil (LFPO), which was then characterized using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Hair tonic formulations containing three different LFPO concentrations (0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5%) were developed and evaluated for stability, pH, viscosity, and antifungal activity against M. globosa. The results showed that LFPO contained 2.51% acid number, 0.70% ester number, 0.71 mg/kg iron content, and 25.88% patchoulol. The formulations exhibited stable physicochemical properties, with pH levels of 5.36–5.51 and viscosity ranging from 3.94 to 4.08 centipoise (cP), suitable for hair tonic applications. Formulation of 1.5% LFPO demonstrated the strongest antifungal activity, producing a 31.18±1.37 mm inhibition zone against M. globosa, surpassing ketoconazole (21.72±0.28 mm), suggesting potential as a natural antifungal agent. Histological analysis in rabbits revealed that 1.5% LFPO formulation reduced epidermal cell shedding, increased hair length by 41.6±0.35 mm after six weeks, and promoted dense hair follicle growth. This research provides a foundation for developing natural, effective, and stable hair care formulations. Despite these promising results, the efficacy and safety of LFPO formulations in humans remain unexplored. Therefore, a clinical human trial is necessary to assess skin tolerance, irritation risks, and long-term effects under real-world conditions.

Abstract

Web-based platform security is an important aspect that developers must consider. However, numerous developer still exhibit insufficient attention to enhancing the security level of their websites, thereby increasing the likelihood of these platforms becoming targets of cyber attacks. To address this challenge, the utilization of tools such as Nuclei Vulnerability Scnner and Owasp Zap presents an effective solution for the rapid detection of potential vulnerabilities  in web-based platforms. This research involved testing a locally developed dummy web application , with scanning processes conducted using the Nuclei Vulnerability Scanner and Owasp Zap tools. The findings reveal that Nuclei Vulnerability Scanner proves effective in identifying vulnerabilities at the network layer, particularly in relation to SSL/TLS protocols and proxy configurations. In contrast, Owasp Zap is more focused on detecting vulnerabilities  within the web application layer, especially concerning security header configurations  that may be exploited through browser-based attacks such as XSS and clickjacking. Mitigation of the identified  vulnerabilities resulted in a substantial reduction in their severity, with a 90% decrease in Nuclei and an 80% reduction in Owasp Zap. Both tools demonstrated high accuracy and efficient scanning times, establishing them as effective solutions for enhancing security across both network and application layers. This study recommends the integration of these tools into a comprehensive cyber security strategy  to safeguard system integrity and availability while addressing the continuously  evolving threat landscape, in alignment with the layered security principle advocated in contemporary literature.

Abstract

Islamic Microfinance Institutions (IMFIs) play a crucial role in delivering financial services to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), thereby advancing financial inclusion and fostering economic empowerment. Despite their significance, IMFIs frequently encounter major constraints, particularly limited access to capital. In contrast, technological advancements have introduced innovative and efficient financing alternatives, most notably in the form of financial technology (fintech). This study investigates the potential for collaboration between IMFIs and fintech, with a particular emphasis on crowdfunding as a financing mechanism. It seeks to identify the benefits and opportunities, alongside the costs and risks, associated with the implementation of fintech-based crowdfunding as an alternative financing source for IMFIs. Adopting a critical review research paradigm and a mixed-method epistemological approach, the study employs two key methodologies: (1) the development of a typology outlining the benefits, opportunities, costs, and risks of collaboration; and (2) the application of the Analytic Network Process (ANP), using the typology as the foundation for model construction. Findings indicate that experts generally perceive the benefits and opportunities of such collaboration to outweigh the associated costs and risks. Notable advantages include enhanced access to capital and the cultivation of a more robust investment culture within IMFIs. On the other hand, key concerns include infrastructural limitations and the potential for capital loss. To mitigate these risks and maximize collaborative benefits, the study highlights the importance of strengthening institutional management across both IMFIs and fintech platforms.

Abstract

Understanding consumer behaviour is crucial for assessing the economic well-being of individuals or households. However, with the advancement and modernization of society, individuals tend to impose their desires on consumption, leading to a consumeristic. This study investigates the impact of fashion trends and social media on consumption behavior among Generation Z and Millennials in West Java Province using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Primary data collected through surveys were analyzed. The results reveal that fashion trends significantly influence consumption behavior, while social media has a minimal impact. This suggests that efforts to reduce consumerism's impact should focus on addressing the influence of fashion trends. However, leveraging social media for educational campaigns promoting responsible consumption remains crucial.

Abstract

At present, there are two trending topic studies in the world of education that are hotly discussed, namely character education and local wisdom (indigenization). "Urang Gayo" is one of the ethnic groups in Indonesia that is rich in the noble values of Adat and its culture, until now they are still holding fast to defend it, because they believe that the customs and culture of Gayo can guide them in creating harmonization in the community, forming or fostering character, and does not conflict with the values of Islamic teachings. The internalization of Peri Mestike in education is part of efforts to foster character and as an effort to preserve the values of indigenous wisdom and culture of Gayo. The purpose of this study is to determine the importance of the internalization of the "Peri Mestike" (PM) Gayo philosophy in fostering the character of students, as well as the internalization process. The method used is a qualitative method with the ethnopedagogic approach, the data conclusions using the interview method with the strategy of "Swelling Gengku", (the method of imagery and class). This study shows that education must synergize with local wisdom in fostering the character of students because the culture is their identity. The results showed the importance of PM in internalizing and integrating with education as local wisdom and in schools, as for the process found first; through understanding PM by presenting qualified figures, second; with integration in learning material, third; through extracurricular activities, photos or posters that read PM sentences. Furthermore, the school through the principal's policy will continue to try to formulate with the teachers so that the PM can be a subject of local content.

Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive multimodal analysis of Thai Life Insurance’s renowned YouTube advertisement titled “The Gift.” The study aims to explore the intricate ways in which visual communication, through semiotic and emotional frameworks, constructs meaning and evokes affective responses in viewers. By employing semiotic theory alongside emotional response analysis, this paper investigates how the advertisement’s visual and narrative elements function synergistically to convey cultural values, social messages, and emotional resonance. Central to this analysis are the advertisement’s use of color symbolism, narrative structure, and emotional triggers, which are examined to understand their role in shaping audience interpretation and engagement. The methodology integrates qualitative content analysis and multimodal discourse analysis, focusing on the advertisement’s visual signs, symbolic codes, and emotional cues. The semiotic analysis deciphers the layers of meaning embedded in imagery, color palettes, and symbolic motifs, while the emotional analysis assesses how these elements stimulate affective reactions, fostering empathy and connection with the brand’s message. Key findings reveal that “The Gift” effectively employs culturally significant colors and a compelling narrative arc to elicit profound emotional responses, reinforcing Thai Life Insurance’s brand identity and social commitment. This study contributes to the broader field of visual communication by demonstrating the power of multimodal strategies in advertising to engage audiences both cognitively and emotionally, offering insights for scholars and practitioners interested in the intersection of semiotics, emotion, and marketing communication. The inclusion of diagrams illustrating semiotic models and emotional response charts further enriches the analytical depth of this research.
